to Airedale, Christina, MRhyne01Good evening.
We wanted to update everyone. Raphael’s appointment at our veterinarian went very well. Our veterinarian has three locations throughout the Knoxville area. The groomer that rotates between all three clinics was there and she recognized him immediately. Apparently the previous owners used to board him a lot at their downtown location and she used to groom him. That said, they already had a file on him and we were able to find out a little more information on him. He was born September 17, 2018 and is 3 1/2 years old.
All of us have fallen in love with him and he is such a good and happy boy. We would like to officially make him a member and proceed with the adoption.

January 26, 2022 at 1:53 am in reply to: 2021 Birdie,Female spayed, 4 yrs old Anderson Cty PAWS, SC-Adopted Valerie Perry #28557Christina and Jackie,
Talked to Valerie Perry tonight about Birdie. Her stitches were to be taken out yesterday, but the vet wanted them in a few days longer.
Pathology is back and we have good news and not-so-good news. The mass on her face was cystic – no issue. One of the mammary masses was pre-cancerous, benign with clear margins. The other mammary mass was cancerous, level 2, margins clear and there is a 30% chance of a reoccurrence. Dr. Matthews feels Birdie has been through a lot and the surgery and sutures were extensive. He wants Birdie to just be a dog for now and continue to heal. Valerie is to check her every week to see if there are any physical changes and then a check-up every 3-4 months to see if there is any new growth.
Valerie remains unsure if she is ready to commit to adopting Birdie and I told her that there was no rush. She feels she is harmonious with her and she loves her size, but is unsure after the sudden loss of Cedric. Birdie goes for 4 walks a day with Valerie on a short lead (4 ft). Once her stitches are out she wants to get to know Birdie better and get her playing. Valerie says she is a smart girl but she has started to nip at Valerie’s heels and behind when Birdie is excited to go for her walk. Valerie will be working on correcting this behavior!!
I think Valerie and Birdie are in a good place for each other and we should just let things take their course. My heart tells me Valerie is falling in love with her but she is guarding her heart.
That’s it from here.

to SheilaSheila,
Airedale Rescue Group would like to thank you both for your interest in and love of Airedales.
After reviewing your application and your preferences, we have come to the unfortunate conclusion that we don’t have any Airedales that would be a good fit for you. As you are most likely aware, Airedales and most dogs for that matter, come to the rescue because of troublesome issues. These issues are exacerbated through the surrender and re-homing/adoption process. We see a regression in training/learning, an escalation in aggression issues if present, and acting out just to name a few. We rarely have a perfect Airedale…something we’d all like!!
Stability and consistency are just a couple of ingredients in a successful rescue recipe. Our goal at ARG is to find the best, most nurturing, and permanent home for our Airedales.
We wish you well in your search for an addition to your family. We are just unable to help.

Most Grateful,
Pat Hairston
