I am involved in a huge task at work this week and won’t be able to come up for air until Friday. If that is an issue and you have other potential fosters, please do what is best for the dog.
But I will talk to my wife and family over the weekend. Thanks!

Good Morning John!ARG has a 4 yr old male Airedale, Bear, that is surrendered. His person died and the wife is looking to rehome him. She has her hands full with their other dogs. Bear is estimated to be about 60 lbs, he will be updated with vaccines, he will need to be neutered, microchipped and heartworm tested. ARG will pay for those items. Also if he were to be heartworm positive ARG would pay for treatment.
He does not get along with male dogs but it could be because of being intact. He does well with female dogs. He does well on leash and takes correction well. He likes grooming and car rides. Bear recently was groomed and shaved down for the summer. He has been living in a double enclosure with 1/2 being indoor space. It is unknown if he is housetrained.
Please let me know if you are interested. ARG would do a foster to adopt agreement and finalize that once he is neutered. His adoption fee will be $400.

ARG7/11/2022 I spoke with Jyll Downey. Bear was purchased from a breeder; not specified, to be breeding stock to start breeding Airedales. She and her husband had acquired 2 females from Judy Beitzel. Both Jyll and her husband got covid and her husband died in December 2021 from complications from treatment. IT was his dream to breed Airedales. She has since spayed the females and has decided to relinquish Bear on the recommendation of Judy Beitzel.
Bear has not lived in a house. She does not know if he is house trained. He will be brought up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies before placement. She wanted to get him neutered but the low-cost facility is months out for appoitments. She wants a good home for him where he will be loved. Does well in car, does well at groomer. Not good with other male dogs likely due to being intact.
6/30/2022: From Foster: Carol this AM:Just wanted to give you an update on Murphy. After spending 2 nights outside, I finally got him back inside the house and he seems to have settled down. I’ve left a harness on him so it’s easier to grab him and get him back in the house. He doesn’t come back in willingly, especially if my husband is home! He’s a very sweet boy but needs a lot of patience and training. I’m working on it
April-June 2022: Legal counsel had to be engaged by ARG to get River back to ARG after 1 month of boarding paid by ARG. ARG also paid for the boarding and vetting of Jayne, an Irish Terrier, before she was transported back to the breeder.
Georgia was surrendered and rehomed. She has had food issues, counter surfing, was underweight, and is fearful of loud voices and hands clapped together. She is not potty trained.
River has been renamed Murphy: The foster reports: We’re having some behavioral issues with Murphy. He seems to be scared of people in general and really only comes to me when Daisy is with me. He won’t go anywhere near my husband. Last night we had my son and his fiancé over for swimming and dinner and he wasn’t happy about that. I stayed up until 1:00 this morning trying to coax him back into the house but he ended up sleeping outside overnight. These things need to be factored into who you select as an adopter. I strongly recommend someone who has another dog because he takes a long time to warm up to people–

Thank you for applying to adopt an Airedale Terrier. After reviewing your application, our board has determined that your situation is not ideal for a rescued Airedale for the following reasons:
1) Fencing: f. If “Other” please describe your fencing: All property 1.75 acres enclosed in fence – Goat wire strung between metal fence posts.
B 2. What is the height of your fencing?: b. 4-5ft Goat wire is not sufficient to contain an Airedale nor is the height of the fence.
2) This question and your response: “Describe how the dog would spend a typical workday or weekend at your home. Where will the dog stay when you are at work or out of the house?” : I don’t work so everyday will be the same. The dog can be inside if he is housebroken. Or outside. I have several dog beds on my porch outside. Plus I have 2 large chain linked kennels with igloo doghouses in them. Airedale Rescue Group does not support dogs being left in outdoor runs with doghouses. The Airedale must be housed indoors.You state you are interested in Tucker; he requires an experienced Airedale owner.

Hello Charleigh, I am following up on how things are going with Hugo. Have you decided to keep him and engage a trainer? Please let us know. We do have an interested adopter if you do want to rehome him. We do know how difficult the decision is to rehome a dog, but sometimes it is better for you and the dog.
