        Pat thank you so much for your understanding. I hope that the couple that wanted to meet Rex find a new Airedale friend. Rex is a good pet and is starting to understand about his behavior towards Cooper.

                Ladies,
                Aujanae is a determined young woman, has an 2 year old, is currently pregnant and lives in a condo with partner. Mentioned protection (of family) several times. Works as clothing store manager for 2 years, lives in condo for 2 years.
                VET: Emerald Coast Mobile (850-630-0643) one visit 3/29/20 S/F (Jixxer) for annual declined Heartworm and flea and tick.
                Carmel Animal Hospital (704-448-2256) One visit for physical, BW, suspected Pancreatitis, no meds, declined HW, thyroid testing and xray.
                She had Jixxer for several years more than 3 years.
                Definitely decline. I’m pretty sure she will argue about it.

                  HI Cindy –

                  Lori Kane who adopted Hughie (Chewy) this past August needs to surrender him back.

                  Last night she has her son and his family over. They were all sitting on the floor, her son stood up and Hughie lunged at him grabbing his arm and sweatshirt sleeve and biting down. He did bruise skin but he was not bleeding.

                  Lori has observed over the last months that Hughie gets anxious when more than one or two people are around. On walks, he has lunged at people when there are multiple people around. He has been great at meeting other dogs and done well in dog daycare playing with groups of dogs. It is just multiple people he having problems with. She has also learned he does not like anyone putting their hand over his head to pet him as it makes him anxious.

                  Are you in a situation to take him and work with him again until we can find him a suitable adoptive home?

                  Please let us know and perhaps you and Lori can connect to figure out how to get him to you.

                    Thank you! I’m not sure what has been going on with him lately! I have been working with him and he had been so good with his walking! I don’t know why he has suddenly taken to growling when people pet him… I don’t think it’s aggressive, but I don’t want to take that chance! As far as the bark and jumping at the boy on the sidewalk, I’m hoping it’s an insolated occurrence but again, I don’t want to not be able to trust him. Thank you for the advice and recommendation!

                      I reached out to Cindy Green for recommendations. She highly recommends getting one-on-one training immediately to “nip” this behavior in the bud. Hughie is a smart dog and is figuring out he can get away with this with you.

                      Rachel Williams at Keen dog in Indian Land, SC (just next door to Matthews). is her recommendation. She is experienced with leash reactivity. Contact Keendogtraining.com, 803 228-4232.

                      Cindy would be happy to do lessons as well if you would like to drive to Florence.

                      ARG will offer reimbursement of $250 towards training with a paid invoice for training.

                        Hi Cindy-

                        It looks like Lori is having issues with Hughie (Chewy).

                        Lori is in Matthews NC. We need to locate a trainer for her to work with to see if they can work through it.

                        I emailed and talked with her a while ago because Hughie was acting starved. She had him on weight maintenance food that had only 22% protein. I suggested she switch to a different food in the same brand that had more protein (25%) and that seemed to make a difference. At that time she talked about engaging a trainer but I do not know if she did.

                        Any suggestions for a trainer would be great.

                          Did you engage a trainer near you other than speaking to Cindy?

                          I am thinking we need to have a professional trainer working with you and Hughie.

                          Let ARG do some research and recommend someone. We can assist with some funding to help with the training.

                            I also wanted to add that when he is riding in the car and sees a dog walking, he takes a fit barking and scratching at the door.

                              Pat,
                              I need your advice… Hughie has become very unpredictable in his reactiveness towards people and dogs. He had been doing really well with walking past dogs without barking or being reactive. Recently, he is growling at people when they pet him, he lunged and barked at a boy as we passed him on the sidewalk for no reason. I already talked with Cindy Green about his jumping and barking at a couple that was walking by and wanted to say hi. I don’t want an unpredictable dog. I don’t know what to do. Please advise.

                                I want to THANK YOU for your advice to increase Hughie’s protein content of his food! Because I had him on “diet” food his protein intake was low! I changed his food and increased his protein and the results were incredible!! Now, yes, he still demands to eat and is always looking for food or treats or anything to eat, he is NOT ravenous and acting like he is STARVING! He also has not been interested in his poop any longer!! His weight is maintaining and his exercise levels are still high!

                                  Most days we are home or only gone a few hours, or one of us is here.

                                  They are out playing on and off during the day – the 2 young Airedale boys. After dinner, they settle down in chairs or dog beds and usually go out once or twice. The dale boys are nearby but usually don’t cuddle. The labs are our cuddlers. We have had Elliott for over 1.5 yrs and he is just now starting to come up for cuddles. So, don’t be discouraged, Hughie is still adjusting to his new life and it can take them months. I will text you some photos….

                                  If Hughie has had a full day of walks and play it would not be uncommon for him to just settle in if you and your husband are. Perhaps move his dog bed closer to where you sit or if allowed, invite him onto the chair with you.
