5/28/25 reply sent to Pat, not Christina

“I’m sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We wanted to give this sweet girl the consideration that she deserves. We love everything about her personality, but we wanted an airedale that looked more like Woodford (he is not a redline). We do hope that she finds the perfect home for her sweet disposition.”

            Hey Pat,

We named him Reginald and calling him Reggie. The said his name was Spike but it is pretty clear he had no idea he was named that.

We got him scheduled for the vet for a check up and to schedule neuter. He has the groomer Friday. We gave him a bath but he needs a proper spa day.

              5/18: From Connie
We all slept well last night. Ariel was crated in an adjacent bedroom with a nightlight and her own white noise machine. She didn’t have any accidents overnight.
This morning, she had a few bites of dogfood, but drank water.

I took her for a walk. She was all over the place. We worked on her walking to the left. We walked about 1.5 miles. She wasn’t afraid of any vehicle noise or other fenced barking dogs.

When I walked Arlo after Ariel’s, we went on a different route because she had marked many times on her walk.

Connie sent another message. Ariel weighs 57 lbs and appears to have gone into heat.

I was made aware of the beagle on Friday but really nothing ARG can do.

                    5/18/25: from Connie and Erick:

When we pulled up to the shelter, Ariel was the only dog that didn’t bark at us. She was kenneled with another dog that had also been surrendered by Ariel’s previous owner.

Ariel met Arlo and tails were wagging from both Airedales!

She wanted to ride shot gun, attempting to jump from the backseat. We secured her in the back of my car in a dog seat belt. She loved riding in the car. We stopped on the way home to give her a bath. She reeked and was matted. She did okay with the bath. She marked in the Petfood Center and private bathing room. She has been marking all over our yard.

She and Arlo reunited again in our yard. She and I stayed outside for a grooming session. She let me brush her, cut out her matted hair, and just love on her a little bit. She has a grooming appointment next Saturday.

When I asked the shelter if she had a shot record or kennel cough, the worker told me she would text me her shots. She said she only worked weekends.

Ariel doesn’t seem to know basic commands, so we will start working on those.

Ariel is a sweet girl. She seems to like people and other dogs. It appears that she was a little overfed and under exercised. It doesn’t seem like she has had much leash control experiences. We will walk her in the morning and begin working on the basic commands. It doesn’t appear that she knows her name because she doesn’t respond.

hi – Carol called and the breeder called her and he wants to place Turbo in a family that he knows. They recently lost a ‘dale, died. I assume when she says ‘he’ the breeder is Bruce from Singing HIlls. I saw that David Risk who has a lot of Singing Hills dogs and who runs the Triangle Airedale meet up group was trying to place some of the Singing Hills ‘dales to the Triangle playgroup this weekend.

I am ok with this – we should be ok with this. The criteria that carol was implementing was becoming too much.
She said she has other ‘dales to place and I told her to let me know.

5/7/25: The owner met Craig Lincon who texted Pat and sent the owner the surrender form. Adam Rutledge works FT + goes to school, and the dogs are alone 12+ hours. He has done day care and his parents help but he feels they need more than he can give them. The dogs are bonded littermates. Both intact not microchipped. Apollo is a resource guarder and needs to be fed separate.

Pat has emailed the vet practice for records. Need ASAP

5/2 on FB messenger: Hey Pat, how aggressive is he with other Males? Also, I didn’t see how old he is? Thanks Gregg Wilson

Hi Gregg- we think he is leash reactive not aggressive. I will know more once he is with the foster.

I will tell you they may fall for him as they lost their male this past February and are dog less right now. They would have first right of refusal to adopt.

I have 2 other males. One is 5 years old with Cindy Green in Florence. He needs a companion. A little shy and needs a calmer home.

We also have 4 yr old Turbo in NC. The surrender wants him placed where there is another dog. He has been offered to someone but we have not heard back yet. Turbo needs to be neutered and right now not a fan of male dogs.

Sent photos. Have not heard back

Pat spoke with Nadine from the shelter. Seven was running at large with 2 standard poodles, 1 doodle, and 2 doodle puppies. Puppies not in good condition. When the shelter was capturing them, Seven jumped on another one of the dogs aggressively. Then at the shelter, he jumped another unaltered male. He is sweet with people. He will play fetch but only gives the ball back on his terms. Very stressed in shelter. They have him in the quieter yard as much as they can.

He is microchipped, and the owner said he had returned him to the breeder (Tabitha). The shelter contacted the breeder. She would take him back but Nadine did not like what she heard. Shelter is opting to transfer Seven to rescue.

The vet is one hour away, and it is not easy for the shelter to vaccinate the dogs.

Nadine will meet someone to pick up Seven at even on Sunday. Shleter is open 9-5 Friday and Saturday.
