          Hi Ladies,
Loved this guy. He says he (77) and wife (Peggy 70) are in very good shape, walk daily, she runs alittle, people think they are in their 50’s. I discussed with him about what would happen to the dog if something happened to them. Peggy’s daughter, who lives in Pittsburgh would take the dog, or his son who lives 5 minutes away would take the dog. The GKids have boston terriers so they are comfortable with Airedales and dogs and they are tweens, not young babies.
Has 4.3 acres, an e-fence that is surrounded by an inter-fence too so the dog can’t get loose. Also has a 1 acre forested lot area. They garden, veggies/Flowers and love being outside.
When traveling they have a woman from church stay in their home.
They are currently having reconstruction of their deck, fence and pool – advised for home visit.

VET: Duke n/m seen yearly from 2014-2021, Took Heartworm meds, well taken care of. Euthanized 2/3/21 for abdominal cancer.

Would like a young dog up to about 5 years old. I guess we have a young dog, and the house passes, maybe should confirm with Peggy’s daughter or Gary’s son that they would take the dog if needed. Peggy lives in Pittsburgh with a dog, when they visited Duke went and got along with Peggy’s dog. So Peggy knows Airedales too.

He said he lives closer to Arkansas and may check in with them, because we don’t have any dogs.
          Nice guy. Recommend.

She is interested in Daisy but I don’t think she is the dog for a first time Airedale owner. She has a 9 yr old son and I also would prefer to see Daisy in an adult only home.

              Martha –

Here is info about Daisy. She sounds super stressed with a toddler and a young Welsh terrier. She has gotten aggressive to the young terrier and the family can no longer risk her behavior with the young child. Daisy was an ARG rescue several years ago before the family had the baby and got the Welsh.

She is spayed, HW negative, vaccines good due in June 2022.

Please think about adding Daisy to your home and let me know.

              thank you!

              Name of dog: Daisy
              Male or Female?: Female
Have you had the Airedale since it was a puppy?: No
If not, how did you acquire the Airedale?: ARG
              Neutered/ Spayed?: Yes
              Age/ Birthday: 1/7/2014
              AKC papers?: No
              Weight: 52
Reason for giving up Airedale. Please be specific.: We love Daisy and have really struggled with this giving her up. We feel we have no choice. She is unpredictable in her interactions with our other dog. She has attacked Duggy four times, causing stitches twice. Each time one of my children were right next to her. Duggy does not fight back and still Daisy attacks him to the point of blood or stitches. She will growl at our toddler but this is mostly requesting space. Otherwise she is so happy and has so much energy! She hates cats and all little moving things (squirrels, cats, ground hogs, etc). She is a very good hunter which is part of the reason she takes out her pray instinct out of Duggy. She is a runner so she needs a fenced yard. She is not a digger unless she is chasing a creature. She is highly reactive on a leash. We tried a lot of training and found a pinch collar works best. She loves hiking. She loves riding in the car. She’s a great lake house dog. Since she is very strong and very enthusiastic she may need a new family that can handle her strength. She loves to lean and has nearly pushed us over from it. I work from home and she loves laying next to me all day but she is fine if left alone for long periods of time. she has free run of our home but will be fine in a crate as she has been trained to use one. She is so eager to please (I have never seen a dog so I tune to pleasing humans) but she cannot control her pray instinct. We think she would be best for a home with no cats or other dogs and older children.

              d) other important living conditions:
Airedale is (check all that apply to your Airedale): Living in a home (Inside dog; lives inside except to potty or play outside), Fenced yard
Airedale Crate Training & Hours Alone (check all that apply to your Airedale): Crate trained – uses it occasionally, Crate not used; dog has free run of home, Used to being alone 4-6 hours

Airedale behaviors (check all that apply to your Airedale): Housebroken, Barks when someone new enters our home, Leash: Reactive to other dogs when on leash can be controlled or redirected (barks, lunges), Grooming: Tolerates it (fussy about paws, face, behind or other part of body), Car: Good in car – loves it, Food: Good eater

Airedale Interactions (check all that apply to your Airedale): Sweet dog, loves to cuddle, Afraid of thunderstorms, Afraid of loud noises, Children: Does best with older children 10 yrs to teenagers, Cats: Hates cats – wants to chase or eat them, Dogs: NOT good with small dogs, Dominant to other household animal(s), Aggressive to other dogs (hostile, injurious, or destructive behavior toward another dog)

Dog’s best qualities are:: Eager to please, cuddling, love her adult people so much, listens well when not hunting, eats well, grooms easily (at groomer or being brushed at home), healthy

Dog’s worst qualities are:: Won’t listen if reacting to another dog (on leash or in person), highly attentive to prey, unpredictable. Will love and play with her brother dog happily and then something will set her off and she will attack him.

Has Airedale received any obedience training? If yes, please describe.: Yes, manners training when we first got her. Reactive leash training later. Consult with prey instinct.

2/14/2022: Received a call from Marissa. They need to rehome Gus due to their health issues and Gus’s energy level. Gus needs more than they can give him. He needs a fenced yard to play in and more than a few walks per day. He does well at day-care and plays well with other dogs. On walks he is overzealous and has pulled both Ed and Marissa down.

2/12/2022 – Picked up “Muppet” from Zach. Naming him Cato.

Doing OK; he is consuming a lot of water, skin is not good and he is stinky. He is overwhelming their dog when in the house because of his size.

Vetted on 2/14 and awaiting blood work and HW results.

2/14/2022: Palmer would like to foster to adopt Luke to make sure he is a good fit for him and his female jack russell. Palmer is having elective surgery on 2/18 and needs 2 weeks before he can take him. Sheila was good with that. So approximately 3/4/2022 to 4/4/2022 Palmer with foster with the intention of finalizing the adoption in April. A foster to adopt agreement was sent.

Very nice talk with Shelia tonight. Going to stop by Sunday and meet her and Luke. Am optimistic this might be a match. He sounds like a great dog that has just been neglected.

Thx again! Will keep you posted.

                                Good afternoon Pat,

Thank you for thinking of use! We are very interested in foster to adopt. Would we receive him on Monday? How does that process usually work?

Also, do you have a general weight/size on him?

                                Best,

                                  Hello Sabrina,

We will be taking responsibility for a male, neutered Airedale about 1-2 yrs of age found in Cummings GA on 2/6. The people who found him have posted him on many (many) FB sites, local shelters in and around the area and several veterinary practices, and I reached out and talked with the person on 2/9. The dog is not microchipped. So far and the owner has not come forward.

The people who have the dog would like us to take him this coming Monday and we wanted to see if you would consider fostering for an additional time period to meet stray hold until 2/20 after which he can be adopted.

This is what the posting stated:

“Male Airedale Terrier: FOUND on February 6, 2022 in Cumming, GA 30041 near Cambridge Hills neighborhood
                                  off Highway 20, Cumming, Ga

Message from Finder: He is a very sweet boy, manages well on a leash, no collar, tags or chip. We found him sitting on our deck in the cold this morning, he was very hungry and thirsty so we have been babying him.

Description: Adult male Airedale terrier, very well-behaved and sweet dog!”

He is good with their dog (a cattle dog) and toddler but chases their cat.

ARG will cover vetting including vaccines and microchip.

Would you be interested in short-term (to meet stray hold foster) to adopt? Please let me know after you and your husband chat.

                                  Most Grateful,
