Hi Pat! Thank you so much for your quick and kind email. My husband and I will fill out this application sometime in the next few days and get it in. Looking forward to chatting more as we move through the process.

      Hello Kimberly,

Thanks for your thoughtful email and your research about the bred. Airedales are not for everyone and are very different than a lab or other breeds.

Airedale Rescue Group never knows when or if we will have a young pup. It is rare for an entire litter of very young dogs to come into rescue; it does happen but not often. It is more common for a dog within a year of age to become available.

Either way, the best thing to do is submit an application and get approved to adopt. Then, when a dog becomes available you will be on the waiting list. We can mark your application for a later adoption and reach out when it is closer to your planned time. Here is the link to apply when you are ready:

Hello! My husband and I are hoping to add a puppy to our family this year, thinking an airedale terrier would be a great fit for us.

I recently learned about the Airedale rescue and adoption group and found your contact info through the national contact list. We are hoping to add a puppy to our family this fall (ideally in October) and starting to look around at groups we can consider when the time comes. We are specifically looking to adopt a female Airedale who will come home with us as a few week old puppy. I have done some breeder research but would prefer to adopt/rescue if that’s possible.

I know October is months away, but I’d love to know more about how the adoption process works and if there’s anything we should know as we get ready to welcome a puppy into our family. We live in the Raleigh NC area.

Thank you very much! Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

1/17/25 Pat spoke with Michael today at appro 11 am. He is ADT experienced and grew up with airedales. He is the son of Susan Crosby. We talked about Nash, and he and Ein plan to meet him at the boarding kennel after returning from their weekend away. Annie, the Staffordshire mix, went through HW treatment, and they are familiar with that process. They have not moved into the new house yet. The fence is being installed today, and a kitchen remodel will be done before they move in. They would not be ready to adopt for 3-4 weeks.

We talked about Spark in foster with Barbara. Pat will send photos of Spark so they can see him.

Vet Ref: Annie is up to date on vaccines, having updated this past Dec 24, and is on monthly Heartgard and Nextguard.

Personal Ref: Not checked due to a relationship with prior adopters and growing up with Blue and Waylon.

        Move to HV.

It’s taken me some time to be able to post that our Charlie (the II) crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the early morning hours of his 11th birthday, December 27th. He waited until one of his favorite people, my youngest son, was home from college and he celebrated Christmas as always in the middle of everything. He was dearly loved and is greatly missed. Home seems empty and our hearts are broken, but we are extremely grateful this sweet boy was part of our family. He was our 4th ADT and our 2nd senior rescue and there are no words to explain how special these family members are. We know another Airedale will be part of our family eventually; no other breed would ever do. But right now we are grieving our boy and I am in tears again.😢💔

1/3/25 from Robin Crawford at Dogma:

                      Hi Pat,
This is Robin from Dogma. I have Suzi my Gm on this text. We are transporting dogs to our rescue vet Dr Ware on Monday. Suzi will call them and let them know to expect Nash for a check up, updated shots and HW treatment. Additionally we will have our groomer work on him. We will give you updates as they become available.

12/28/24 Prior ATRA adopted. Knows Gun Penhoat.

To Gun: Hi Gun-Dirk Roskam sent a note about adopting Charlie from us. He said he lived in MI and worked with you for his last 2 Airedales. I did ask him to complete our application so we could expedite a review.

Thanks for any info on him.

Hope all is well. Happy New Year!
                              Pat

From Gun: Good morning Pat 😊 Dirk is a SUPER adopter! He is a business/tax lawyer and I think he teaches at Clemson, SC, nowadays. He was our tax attorney for several years here in Michigan. You can find him on FB under his name. He grew up with Welsh and Airedales. – Let me know how things go! – All the best for the New Year!

To Gun: Good Morning Gun- thanks much. He headed out on vacation so I will check when he is back. I don’t think we need to do a full review with your support of “super adopter”. That will expedite approval and we can get a Dale placed with him. Thanks much!! Pat

From Gun: Dirk sent me pictures – he still has Arie ‘the wild child’ who is now 11 years old. I remember picking up Arie who was only about 6 – 7 months old and the terror of the mobile home where he lived. He was the runt of a local backyard litter and arrived non-socialized but full of energy 😊 It’s wonderful to see him now as dignified gentleman! We placed our first ATRA Rescue with Dirk – LeBear was also a puppy ruffian when he came into Rescue from southern MI. He had been running wild to survive while the rest of the litter starved to death under a mobile home. Animal control picked him up and we had to ‘adopt’ him out of the sheriff’s office as they didn’t trust Rescue organisations. Dirk had big medical expenses for LeBear very soon as LeBear had something wrong with his spine. After surgery LeBear used wheels but with rehabilitation he was eventually able to use his back legs again. He never regained full control of his bowels so Dirk always had cleaning supplies on hand in his office. LeBear had his own ‘executive’ leather chair in Dirk’s office and he travelled by air first class with Dirk as he often went to see his parents in Florida.

Considering this input, I recommend skipping review and approve this adopter. Give him choice of Chance or Spark.
