to meThe vet called yesterday and they were able to find a place to compound the meds into what he needs. The price will be $57, which is quite a lot lower than what I’m paying now 😊

to meGood afternoon, Pat,
Here are the invoices I have for Luke. They want him to take 40 mg and there is not a tablet that size so I have to get two boxes right now. They are researching to see if they can have a compounded and I have also asked them if there is a generic med that we can use that would be cheaper. He goes back in three weeks to make sure he is staying stable and then after that, it will be every three months.
I truly appreciate any help that you might be able to get me.
I am really struggling to cover everything that he needs right now, but I want to make sure that I do everything that I can do for him.
Thank you

My name is Beth Brumer.
I’m interested in Rowdy and Lil’bit.
We are experienced Airedale owners, having our first Airedale 54 years ago.
( we were 20). We have had an Airedale our household ever since.
We live in Florida for the winter months and drive to Northern California for the summer where we own a resort on the mountains near Mt. Shasta.
Florida home has fenced yard and California home has underground fence. They dogs will not be left along very often, as we have taken Our previous pups went everywhere with us. We have had two Airedales at a time as well.
I saw you have several applications in.
We have been approved with the Airedale rescue Group chapter here in Florida. If you are still considering additional applications, I’d be interested in receiving more information. The dogs meet two of our very most important criteria… child friendly and dog friendly. They will be around both frequently.
Sincerely,
Beth Brumer530-524-8877

to meThere are two numbers, my cell # 828-443-8150, Sally’s is 828-443-8153.
I’m still working (Sally is retired), so evenings would be better for us… We’d love to hear from her and to get to know her and learn about Dusty…
We both text and she’s certainly welcome to contact us either phone or text…
Thank you, we appreciate your trust and confidence in us by allowing us to adopt Dusty into our family. We will of course follow all guidelines in the adoption process…
One thing I would like to ask. When the time comes for the transferring to happen, we would be willing to travel an extended amount to cut down on the number of “strangers” she would be exposed to as strangers moved her from vehicle to vehicle. I saw in Shia the fear/anxiety she was experiencing. Having separation anxiety from her family, having strangers taking charge, we would like to keep that anxiety to as little as possible. We of course realize that this is all a part of the adoption process, but the less the better. Then too the more time for us with direct contact in the car, calming her and letting her sense she is safe may help as we introduce her to her new home.
We assure you, she will be pampered and loved…

Hey Pat and Christina,
After yesterday exposure to Shia, when I got home I talked with Sally and, to make a long story short, we would like to be considered as a candidate to adopt Duchess, if that has not already been decided.
We no longer have our two boys, Jed and Ben. Hard as it was we had to put Ben down in November of ‘24 and Jed in June of ‘25.
We’ve had animals, dogs cats, rabbits, even an Iguana (Sally taught middle science and a parent “gifted” her with “Igy” the Iguana) our entire marriage and over the past thirty five years, Airedales. We wanted to have time to adjust and see what it would be like without the responsibilities that come with having pets. We talked and we’re both in agreement that we miss the love and companionship (and antics) of the breed and would like to be considered as adopters for Duchess.
We know she won’t be available until mid May. We just wanted to let y’all know she’s got a home waiting if you think she’d be a good fit here. There are no other pets/critters so she’d be the “ Queen of the roost”…
Respectfully,

Thanks so much for this comprehensive note on Lucy. This will help a lot to get her in the right home.
We have an approved adopter in Daphne AL, but they want a younger dog. But I am going to ask them about Lucy.
Thanks much.

Hi there!
Ok, here are my thoughts. Let me know if there’s something specific I can answer!Temperment with Humans
Lucy is not only one of the sweetest Airedales I’ve ever encountered, she’s a very friendly dog who possibly has never met a stranger. Unlike some Airedales who can be somwhat aloof, Lucy will say “hi” to all with a tailwag and a friendly sniff or hand lick. True to Terrier, she’ll bark when she hears or sees something outside the house.
Given Lucy’s background (2 toddlers), she’s very good with children. A 1.5 year old spent the weekend with us – Lucy kissed her, wasn’t pushy, was careful with her, didn’t chase her, and ignored the toddler screams (laid on the floor asleep).
She’s still an Airedale and needs a strong calm owner. Lucy needs minding work – she was sent to “camp” as a pup – she minds “sit” but that’s about it.
She will absolutely try to escape through an open door so “stay” needs to be really enforced.
She doesn’t seem to know the word “no” – she’s so sweet, it’s hard to correct her. She apparently just turned 8 so I suppose there’s some truth that it’s “hard to teach dogs new tricks” but given her training background, she should come back to it with command->reward.Leash
She definitely thinks she’s in charge here.
Previous owners used a retractable leash connected directly to her collar and she will pull as she meanders on the leash. I would imagine she was trained to walk on one side of the human (basic training) but she absolutely doesn’t do this as she meanders at will to the point where someone could be tripped.
I very much dislike the extendable leashes – and while I don’t think pinch collars to everyone, it keeps her from pulling. She’s little but pretty strong.
Other Dogs- I think she’d be better as an only dog, but depending on the dog and the owners, she could live with dogs. She and Ozzie (who’s kinda ’special needs’) get along well (outside of feeding time). At 8, Lucy is the “elder” in our home but Ozzie (who just turned 4) is definitely in charge and he will remind her. If there’s another dog I think it should:
only be a male
have a confident demeanor – she’s naughty and will try to instigate things with Ozzie by poking at him until she gets his attention – they play pretty well together, but she gets vocal and it could possibly escalate if the 2 dogs get overly excited. I’m usually correcting her and not him, as she’s the one who is more easily excited.
no cats, nor small critters – she’s incredibly prey-driven. If she hears something rustiing in the leaves, she wants to run after it. She will abosutely ignore her human and chase another animal running
1000% she needs a suitable fenced yard
she doesn’t seem to understand hierarchy with other dogs – Ozzie’s made it clear that he’s the alpha yet she still tests him and she also pushed a visiting male dog (who is very calm) to an altercation. She somehow gets under their skins.
I do kinda think it (again depending on dog and humans) that having the right dog with her will keep her company – she gets anxious and whines when left aloneFeeding
The way we feed the 2 dogs is to put one up in the kennel while the other eats. She likes to be fed around people – she’ll stop eating if I leave the room. Some of that is anxiety (she’ll follow me around the house) and I think some of it is FOMO on what’s happening in the kitchen.Kennel
she sleeps in her kennel in our bedroom with Ozzie in his
Ozzie will stay in his kennel at night with his door open – she will do the same (but we usually close it)
she cries when you leave her in it and leave the room or house
I would trust her to leave her alone in the house if I didn’t think she and Ozzie would play too hard and get into trouble
i don’t think she would enjoy being outside without her humans – she was apparently left alone all day in the basement at her previous homeHistory – this is what the guy told me when I picked her up in Ft Payne:
Firstly, she jumped right out of his car to trot over to say hello to me
she rides well
he grew up with dogs and his wife gave him Lucy when she was a pup
the female Scottie and Lucy are/were the same age – he said the Scottie was primarily the instigatior
his job requires him to travel out of town, so Lucy was often “left alone in the basement” – I got the feeling that his wife isn’t really a dog person – he said she chose which dog to surrender (I’m surprised as for an Airedale, Lucy is super easy) – this would also explain her separation anxietyType of Owners – in addition to what ARG requires here are my (very) amateur thoughts:
she’d be a good “intro-to-Airedales” for someone
she’d be good for someone who’s older – she’s kinda out of shape and loves to romp with Ozzie but she doesn’t pace around looking for a “job” – she loves to play but I don’t think she would require the focused mental and physical work Airedales usually need
she’s 8 but acts older – her feet look like she’s an older dog but she should have a few good years ahead of her
don’t think she’d be happy in a home where people are gone all day – if she were younger perhaps but given her age, she’s pretty rooted in needing her people around. I’d hate for her to have to go through the stress of being left alone days on end.

I’ve just found the lady up because it seemed to be taking a long time and she said that she’s not standing up for a long time, which we knew this. I’m just getting worried. Um, that we don’t, you know, you know her history, you know the past. But I don’t, and I’m just wondering if you can give me any suggestions at all to what I can do. Or, um, What I can give her, you know, I mean, she’s fine. She’s eating, she’s going outside, and she’ll walk around and, you know, Roger takes a little walk sometimes. But it just worried me today that she said she’s not being able to stand for a while. Um. I’m just wondering if you’ve got any suggestions for me, just something to help or any medication that you think I could give her. All right, sorry to trouble you. Thank you for submitting an application to adopt an Airedale.
While you have stated you have no intention of breeding your Welsh Terrier, there is strong veterinary evidence of the benefit of neutering. 9 Reasons to Spay or Neuter Your Dog
As a rescue, we are unable to consider a home with an intact dog for adoption. If you are willing to have your Welsh neutered and submit evidence via a paid veterinary invoice, Airedale Rescue Group will consider your application for adoption.

He is in a covered, secured dog lot and he is happy, I just want to hopefully get someone to help him get back inside and get back to the clinginess instead of being shy and hard to catch. The foster will have to have a fenced yard. When he is out playing, he doesn’t run away but probably would at a stranger’s home, since I bought him as a young puppy. I just leave his gate open, and he goes back in when he is ready. He has never offered to bite anyone. The reason I feel he needs something better is, he was out playing and my 2yr granddaughter walked toward him and he did what I call pin/point and barked under his breath. He did not move and for some reason he did not move. My sons cocker spaniel was there with her, and she did walk in front of her and stand against her. He doesn’t bark at other dogs that come into the yard. We are in rural area, and sometimes neighbor’s dogs visit and sometimes people dump their dogs on us. I have never seen him fight a dog; He is the lowest on the totem pole. He is due vaccines and worming. His name is Rueger.
