to Sharon, info
Dear Sharon & Stephen. I am so sorry that you had to say goodbye to Cameron. What a lucky boy he was to have spent those good years with you. He had a great life and so much love. It’s great that you are being considered by SOAR to adopt the two boys together! That is wonderful! SOAR is a great organization and we have worked with them many times through the years. In fact, the first transport I ever did for Airedale Rescue was through Christine Bettis from Little Rock (SOAR). I’d been with ARG (then Southern States Airedale Rescue-SSAR) just a little while when she requested help. I would be happy to help again if these boys come through Memphis! Let your contact, Kathy, know about that!
You two have my full support to adopt any Airedale you wish to.

Thank you for submitting an adoption application for a SOAR rescue Airedale. Our records show that you have previously applied in Sept 2021 so there is no need to reapply unless there is new information that you wished to share. I have also copied your local NC Airedale rescue group so that they are informed. If you have any questions, please contact me any time.
Again, thank you for applying and good luck with your search.

Hi everyone,
Circling back as we have had a week to observe the “girls” together. All in all, it has been a really good week. They are able to eat together and were alone together Friday morning and it went well! They are not without disagreements, but they are few and brief – generally it is a very excited Sammie being “schooled” by a far less energetic Sasha 🙂 They have met friends together in the neighborhood and while Sammie is very reactive even with those dogs she has met previously, Sasha seems able to calm her down more quickly than we can. (if only I spoke Airedale!). Sammie seems happy here, although she is still settling in and I think she misses her other family a lot too. Sasha had a doctor’s appt. the other day and it was really fun to see how excited Sammie was, not to see her humans, but to see her sister come home! That said, we would like to formally adopt Sammie. Will you send any paperwork to this email?
Thank you, and thank you again to Mary and her family for all the wonderful information on sweet Sammie as we took her home.

Thank you so much for your time today to introduce Sammie to Sasha. We can’t tell you how happy we are to know that she is feeling like she is back in a place where she has a friend…an Airedale friend. We are shocked that she was so patient and put on her best behavior for everyone. We truly hope that this is her missing piece and that she is able to get all of the love and attention that makes her feel balanced and loved.
Attached is a summary of our notes for All About Sammie. Please let us know if there are any additional questions you may have to help get her settled.
I’ll work to get the Instagram details, microchip, and prior vet papers so you have those for your records. When we all make sure that this works for Sasha and your family, we will make it officially official.
Please thank your kiddos for being so patient and sharing their time with Harper and Truman. They have talked tonight about how they feel so much better because they know that Sammie will have a friend and a great family to love her. We will send a package next week with a couple of new toys for Sammie. She may even get crazy and share with Sasha.
Pat and the ARG team… we could not have asked for a better day. Sammie was patient and put her best paws forward. We think that she was missing the companionship of the other dogs, especially Pinkie. We are thankful that you all worked to find a good fit for our sweet girl. We feel lucky to have had her for the last almost two years to help get her ready for where she is today. We have our fingers and toes crossed that she settled in well and this is a balanced and good fit for everyone.
All the best to everyone. We can’t wait to hear how things go, see more photos, and (hopefully) visit Sammie again when we are in the Charlotte area.
Cheers to new adventures in 2023!

Wonderful news. If you and Mary are agreeable to a date/time to meet, go ahead and arrange that. Let us know how the meeting goes. Please make sure to spend some time walking together after the 2 girls meet before returning home with both girls. IF you can take someone with you or have a way to separate in the vehicle on the way home that would be best. I know Sammie is a good rider.
We are excited and hopeful for all of you.
Mary – thank you so much for your incredible patients finding a home for Sammie. We have pre-screened so many people who have wanted to adopt her but never felt like it was a good fit for Sammie. We really feel good about Kristi and hope you and your family do too.
Kristie – once you have Sammie we can do an adoption agreement.
Grateful!

Thanks, ladies.Kristi and I had a good chat, with her family listening in for lots of the details. 😊 They clearly know the quirks of Airedales and the challenges that can come with acclimating a new dog into the mix. They want to make sure that Sasha and Sammie are both a good fit. I let Kristi know that should they have challenges with Sasha accepting Sammie, we will help by bringing Sammie back to our home.
We know it takes time to find the right family. We feel strongly about this for everyone and know it is important for Sammie. Sammie is a very good dog and we want her to take on her next adventures with a family that keeps her safe and loved. The great news is that we can help share lots about Sammie so everyone understands her and speaks her language quickly for as easy of a transition as possible.
We are heading to the vet tomorrow to make sure Sammie is up to speed with all of her vaccinations and testing. We had to skip her last grooming on December 23rd, because of the freezing temps, so we will get the vet to trim her nails. We will get her a shower at home so she is fluffy and smells good.
We talked with the kids tonight and there were lots of tears, even though we discussed this day would come at some point. We know that loving a pet sometimes means doing things different than what we had planned, but doing what is best for the pet.
Sammie is very loved. We plan to have a few fun days with her to celebrate the great pup that she is and add some more memories to our time with her.
We will finalize plans and work with Kristi on where and when to meet so we can make the introduction and transition as smooth as possible.
Thanks to everyone for their work and patience to connect everyone along the way. We (and Sammie!) really appreciate it.
More updates soon!
