December 28, 2024 at 11:39 am in reply to: 2024 Roskam, Dirk, Clemson SC, adt exp, 1 dog, good fence, e he’s alone, teenagers ADOPTING CHANCE #3285212/28/24 Prior ATRA adopted. Knows Gun Penhoat.
To Gun: Hi Gun-Dirk Roskam sent a note about adopting Charlie from us. He said he lived in MI and worked with you for his last 2 Airedales. I did ask him to complete our application so we could expedite a review.
Thanks for any info on him.
Hope all is well. Happy New Year!
PatFrom Gun: Good morning Pat 😊 Dirk is a SUPER adopter! He is a business/tax lawyer and I think he teaches at Clemson, SC, nowadays. He was our tax attorney for several years here in Michigan. You can find him on FB under his name. He grew up with Welsh and Airedales. – Let me know how things go! – All the best for the New Year!
To Gun: Good Morning Gun- thanks much. He headed out on vacation so I will check when he is back. I don’t think we need to do a full review with your support of “super adopter”. That will expedite approval and we can get a Dale placed with him. Thanks much!! Pat
From Gun: Dirk sent me pictures – he still has Arie ‘the wild child’ who is now 11 years old. I remember picking up Arie who was only about 6 – 7 months old and the terror of the mobile home where he lived. He was the runt of a local backyard litter and arrived non-socialized but full of energy 😊 It’s wonderful to see him now as dignified gentleman! We placed our first ATRA Rescue with Dirk – LeBear was also a puppy ruffian when he came into Rescue from southern MI. He had been running wild to survive while the rest of the litter starved to death under a mobile home. Animal control picked him up and we had to ‘adopt’ him out of the sheriff’s office as they didn’t trust Rescue organisations. Dirk had big medical expenses for LeBear very soon as LeBear had something wrong with his spine. After surgery LeBear used wheels but with rehabilitation he was eventually able to use his back legs again. He never regained full control of his bowels so Dirk always had cleaning supplies on hand in his office. LeBear had his own ‘executive’ leather chair in Dirk’s office and he travelled by air first class with Dirk as he often went to see his parents in Florida.
Considering this input, I recommend skipping review and approve this adopter. Give him choice of Chance or Spark.

Hello – Morgan will be heading to his new family on Thursday. We are beyond grateful to Lee and Michelle who have fostered Morgan since before Thanksgiving and given him love, care, attention to make him such a great dog. Thank you all for your help to get Morgan to his new family!!! He is very loved and moving to a home where he is going to continue to be loved!
Morgan will not be fed in the morning and he will take a pill to help him with car sickness. However, you may want to put a tarp & blanket down in your car., depending on use of crate or sitting in the backseat. (We have transported the TN9 puppies both ways – mostly with crate but last weekend our Female ‘dale went from Fort Mill to Northern VA in backseat, most of the way).
Safety: please ensure that you are aware of Morgan when opening car doors, transferring her from person to person, always making sure a hand is on the leash. Unless necessary, remain in car until transport transfer occurs; when opening car doors, ensure that the leash is secured by hand on the leash; when allowing potty breaks – ensure that collar/leash(s) are tight for no escape; be aware of surroundings – even a plastic bag in the wind may spook a dog in unfamiliar settings. Do not let him off leash at any time. Double Leashing is preferred if you have a slip lead to bring along for your leg of the trip.Do not feel the need to walk Morgan outside if you arrive early. Sitting in the car will be fine for him. (If you have a water bowl, please bring it so he can take a water sip between cars to keep him hydrated). Staying in the car is safest and less risk for escape. PLEASE USE YOUR CHILD LOCKS so that Morgan cannot accidentally open a window or door! (It has happened! Airedales are very smart!)

Thank you Cathy, Christina, and everyone else helping to make this possible. It’s heartwarming to hear about the care and love that Lee and Michelle have given him.
I also appreciate the detailed instructions for his transport as well as the guidance and support throughout the adoption process; everyone’s care and diligence reflect just how dedicated you all are. I’ll ensure that every precaution is taken to keep him safe and comfortable during this next step of his journey. He is certainly going to a family who will cherish him, and it’s wonderful to know he’s already so well-loved.FYI, my plan is to hit the road no later than 6:30am which, depending on stops and my getting lost, should get me to Wytheville around noon if not sooner.
Mandy, if our app preferences align, I can try and share my location with you so you’ll be able to keep an eye on my ETA. Personnally, I tend to favor Apple messenger and Waze.
Again, thank you everyone for your guidance and support throughout this process and especially for entrusting me and my family with Morgan’s care. We are really looking forward to him joining our family.
Best regards,
John Dohn

December 13, 2024 at 12:35 am in reply to: Private: Doug Bogle Knoxville , TN deacon (does not live in Oak Ridge TN) #32736Hi Christina,
Thank you so much for thinking of me. He is a beautiful boy, and I would take him in a heartbeat but we added a boy to our home a couple of months ago. My friend that raises Kerry Blues told me about a breeder in northern Ohio that had a few pups that were 16 weeks old that were available, so I ended up getting one of hers.
Thank you again for reaching out – you all are great. And don’t hesitate to reach out if I can ever help. My eyes should be fully healed in another month or so!
Happy Holidays to you both.
