Mr. Donnelley applied for someone else (Joyce; no last name is given. Email sent 11/4/2019: ARG does not accept 3rd party application submissions. Your friend would need to submit the application herself. Also, I do want to provide some education. There is no such thing as a ‘certified support pet’. Unless the business allows employees to bring their pets to work the dog would not have legal access to go with her. I just want to ensure if the women applies, the dog would be a pet adoption only.
Move to closed. Mark Super Sticky.
8/18/19 – spoke with Dennis Stamey. The Stamey’s are Airedale experienced having had 2 large (90 lb) Airedales over the years. Both were cat friendly! They have 14 acres with a significant part having electronic fence; they are committed to continuing the use of the electronic fence :(. They have their 2 grandchildren 2-3 days a week and usually sometime most every weekend.
The Airedale matched to them is a needle in a haystack:
1) MUST be good around very young children 2 yrs old and infant;
2) MUST be cat friendly – not just tolerate cats but be totally accepting;
3) MUST have a dog able to be on an electronic fence
4) Prefer a smaller dog and a femaleI will move forward with vet review and if ARG wants a HV but I think if approved it would be a long wait for the right dog.

Home Visit done by Sherry Beebe 7/28/2019:
I met with Todd Were yesterday afternoon and had a good visit. I took Karlee with me and she was skittish at 1st, but he was very gentle with her and towards the end of our visit she warmed up to him and he was more outgoing with her. Todd spoke knowledgeable about dogs and had a couple of Colleys in the past and spoke highly of his vet he used and would continue using him. He lives in a very big house. His backyard is all natural growth so it’s full of trees and bushes with some patio furniture and walking stones. Very private from his neighbors. There is no fence. His backyard has a water feature of some waterfalls that has water running through it onto three different levels and at the end it has like a 2 1/2 foot deep area. He is reworking that. He also expressed his desire to have more activity with the dog and hiking walking and taking the dog to outside restaurants and breweries. The outside restaurants and breweries actually is more for pet interaction with people. Since I am very familiar with his area that he lives in we also exchanged dog parks that he was interested in going to to and other areas to take dogs to for playing ball fetch and also have used some of the same boarding facilities in Gwinnett County area.
I also spoke to him about how he was going to be utilizing his electric fence with a new dog. He said he was initially thinking to use it in his front yard and then along the backyard areas for it to be secure. He he is aware of that it will take some training with the dog and is aware that sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t. He’s mentioned that he really was looking to have a dog that could be a companion for him. We chatted a lot about just regular health maintenance for the dog what’s required and he was very much in tune with a heartworm and flea preventative regimine. We spoke about grooming and I shared my thoughts on frequency and cost expectations. So in terms of keeping the dog crated etc. we talked about that. In fact he was actually doing some dog sitting for one of his daughters and there was a big crate in his living room. He was very much positive on this manner.
I believe that Todd would be a good fit with an Airedale and he’s been familizing himself on the breed and their behaviors etc. He was open to having some training if needed. I also mentioned that Airedale’s can be strong willed but with love and consistency they are a genuine member of the family. He also was not sure in deciding if he wanted a younger dog versus to an older senior dog. He knew he had already been through young puppies and that would notbe a fit. Since I’m experienced with 3 Airedale’s I discussed the different exercise regiment from what I have with Karley my Shadie and Kira and stressed each dog is different. He mentioned that he’s had 2 Collies in the past and was very much aware of dog messes. Positive, he said he had never approved of leaving a Dog outside for long periods of times and especially NO if anyone was not at home at all. I also spoke to him considering a dog sitter after a while during his work hours if not able to come hone after reason periods of time. He was very open to that idea. I have a wonderful person that I have used with Karlee that I mentioned.
Finally, I am a little concerned about his backyard. He has a lot of trees and bushes and he’s clearing out some of the over growth and we discussed the areas where he would be placing the electric fence. Wow the smells an Airedale would have so much fun with. He has a 3 large story level house. Which the lower level opens to the back yard. He mentioned that he had never seen any cats around their neighborhood. There are stairs to the back yard and upstairs bedrooms. The
Main entry is level. He lives in a very nice big neighborhood with lots of walking around areas for pets in fact when I was there there was several people walking pets around as well. He sounded very dedicated to having a new dog in his life. He is recently divorced and really wants the companionship.Spoke to Todd Wear 7/22/19 pm. He remembers a neighborhood Airedale from his youth that hung our with all the kids. He previously had a smooth coat and rough coat collie; both dogs died at the age of 9 one due to cancer the other to organ failure. Single man, children are grown, no grandchildren on the horizon, BUT he is very social and wants to take the dog with him to local breweries that allow dogs and kids. Kids are usually infant to 5-8 yrs old; so a dog friendly and child friendly dog is needed. Good with a dog that needs training and likes to walk, hike and go for rides. Will crate when not home and is 12 minutes from work so can go home lunch time to care for the dog and it can occasionally go to work with him. I would move forward on the HV knowing that there is an electronic fence; his property backs up to natural area. Todd wold love to meet Airedale people to learn more about the breed. I am not sure he is ready to take the step to adopting, but certainly giving it thought. I talked with him about Odie and George.
July 3, 2019 at 4:05 pm in reply to: Private: Christian Michael Robbins, Elgin, SC 29045 Ready to Adopt 8/2020 #23111Spoke with Christian regarding application. He helped transport Odie. He wants to help ARG anyway he can. He is in a situation better to foster as he does not have full agreement with his Dad and the other person there (assuming significant other) to add a third dog since his Dad also has an Airedale. He did feel he was a good fit for George because of the amount of time he is home working the farm. Holmes and Watson (his and his fathers dogs) are always out with them when they are working the farm. Both dogs are male and about 9 months old so they are not scheduled for neutering until they turn one year. Both are on preventative heartworm and flea and Watson has had some reoccurring urinary tract issue. Christian also brings fecal samples in to ensure the dogs are parasite free being that they are out and about on the farm.
Christian is Airedale knowledgeable with 2 high energy young males. I would recommend moving forward with a HV.
Requested a payment plan or to have the adoption fee waived. Application closed.
Good Evening Karlos,
Thank you for applying to adopt an Airedale Terrier from Airedale Rescue Group.
I have reviewed your application. First, Chief is not a good fit for a household with toddlers. Second, Airedale Rescue Group (ARG), as many all breeds rescues, invest significant funds to bring a rescued dog up to date, often having to spay or neuter, and treat for heartworm disease. The adoption fee generally does not cover the costs expended by the rescue. With those factors considered, ARG does not accept a payment plan or waive adoption fees. If an interested adopter cannot pay the adoption fee, then adopting from this rescue is not a good fit.
At this time we are closing your application without further consideration. Thank you for your interest.
Sincerely,

Vet reference done; good. Ready for HV. (Possible for Chief if HV clears).
2/21/19 PM: Cynthia Bex – Nice to chat with and having had to ADT in their lives not a lot she does not know about the bred. Her 11/12 yr old died from kidney failure last September. They have 3 acres which is completely underground fenced. She trained their 8 yr old Airedale on it with a few days when they moved to the property. I will proceed with the vet reference (hopefully tomorrow). And based on that would recommend a home visit. This may be a place for Chief if he is not identified for someone since he was trained on an underground fence.
I will do the veterinary follow-up Monday (hopefully) and base on that would recommend a HV.
