This may include the need to attend pet obedience classes to help build a better bond with the new dog in the home. I understand that proper food and veterinarian care can be costly, and I am able to meet these needs. I agree that Airedale Rescue Group may check my veterinarian, groomer and personal references, as well as, my landlord, if applicable. Home visits will be conducted prior to and following an adoption to ensure the safe-keeping of the Airedale. ARG reserves the right to decline adoptions. 7/18/21: Spoke to AnnJanene about Belle and connected her with Alli. Sounds like the right home for Belle where she will be loved and cherished. AnnJanene and her son Preston just lost a 14 yr old dale last week.

Alli confirmed she is meeting AnnJanene outside of Charlotte.

        Contract will be sent!!

We will not be giving this woman an Airedale. I checked on Truthfinder and PublicData Check and she has a long rap sheet of Domestic Violence/Drug Abuse and Driving issues.

I already called her so I will be getting rid of her somehow.

            Hi Pat,

I can foster Tootles. My airedale is about the same age although a bit smaller (50 pounds). They can bond over their distaste for the neighborhood cats.

Keep me updated on next steps if we proceed!

            Thanks,

            Hello Hannah,

I know it has been some time and I am hoping you may still be wanting to foster for Airedale Rescue Group.

ARG needs a foster for Tootles. He has been fostering with Jamie in Huntsville AL. Jamie is not an Airedale person but came into ARG as such help and Aireangel at the right time for Tootles. Jamie has cats and Tootles hates cats so Jamie cannot adopt Tootles. Tootles has a nasal drip issue which is now under control with medication. We have not found the right home for Tootles yet. Would you all be willing to foster him until his forever family is found.?

His medication needs are for life, the best that we understand his issue from his extensive veterinary care and testing. It is nasal disease/chronic rhinitis. Without the medications, he will have flares of significant drainage. Medications will cost about $120 per month, which are covered by rescue. ARG has worked with our National Rescue group and they have committed to cover his prescriptions for life. When they need to be filled the adopter will submit copies (images) of the receipts for reimbursement to the National Airedale Rescue contact.

Tootles: Tootles is ready for his forever home! Are you the one for him?
Tootles is a confident, independent, sweet, 80 lb, 5 yr old Airedale boy. He adores his toys, loves romping around in his fenced yard with his toys, and enjoys car rides with the wind in his hair! Walks are his favorite morning routine, with car trips to local trails. While on a leash, he can be reactive when seeing other dogs, however, he enjoys doggie daycare and gets along with dogs his size.

Some of Tootles history is known, but his communication via growling is still a mystery. He has a happy growl when playing which is of no concern, but he’s not a fan of baths, vets, grooming, helping his hind end into the car (he has a ramp so no touching needed!), or picking up his feet to dry off when rainy out. He loves his bed too, so sometimes it’s best to leave him be. He’s never offered anything more than growling with teeth showing, but he needs a patient, kind, and loving response. Sometimes the growls turn into whining, in which case just being there for him and holding him gently is all it takes to show him love – with so many medical tests complete with minimal diagnoses, it’s tough to know if the growling is associated with pain. Time will tell now that he’s on effective long-term meds. Tootles gives the best body hugs – he’ll crawl up onto your lap and snuggle – he’s truly a wonderful boy, so deserving of love, and will flourish in the right home.

Tootles has great house manners and does not counter surf nor get into things that aren’t his. He does need tough toys as he enjoys chewing them and will tear apart soft toys, typical Airedale! He knows to sit, down, and stay with ease, however, if in the backyard and you ask him to come, he has selective hearing! He isn’t a runner, although if he gets out, grab his favorite treats and the keys, he’ll jump into the car for a treat! He’s not a fan of crunchy treats (prefers soft), and will sometimes eat and drink laying down. He also sits like Pooh bear a lot, but the vet says no hip dysplasia is present at this time.

Tootles will require a lifetime commitment to his nasal disease/chronic rhinitis with medication. He has been prescribed Trazadone (now on 50 mg 2x/day), Piroxicam (10 mg/day) and Azithromycin (300 mg once every 3 days), and Zyrtec (10 mg 2x/day). These medications will cost just about $120 per month, but the adopter will have financial assistance from National Airedale Rescue.

Tootles doesn’t really have separation anxiety, but he has ruffled up a few rugs when left in the house alone, so he is confined to the office for a couple of hours when out running errands.

Overall, Tootles is a very special boy who is so deserving of unconditional love, but he does require patience, stability, and kindness. I truly wish I could be his mom for life, but he needs a home without cats. Whoever gets this boy will be very lucky! – Jamie, Foster Mom
Tootles needs his own special person or persons. He will do best in an adult home, no children under 10, no cats and another dog his size would be nice, but he would be ok as a single.

I will send a folder w/ all of Conways Vet Records, Rabies Tag, & Microchip info., etc.. But just to relay a few things to you that the Vet told me:
                        1.He is on Deramaxx 1x a day for pain/inflammation.
                        2. He’s been pretty good with not licking so no cone so far, however if he starts you may need to get one.
3.No strenuous activity. Short walks is fine but no running.
                        4. He has about 10more days of doxycycline (HW meds), and then they told me he needed to wait 30 days for the first injection treatment but remain on heartworm prevention. May want to ask your vet about that timing. He had his first dose of Simparica trio (heartworm, flea and tick prevention) on 6/21 so will need another dose July 21st.
                        I think that’s everything.🤔😃

                            Kelly – 7/6/21
Guy and Kim Hutcherson live in Winston-Salem, NC. Their home appears to be on a large wooded lot. Cape Cod style. Kim just retired from teaching and Guy is a truck driver. They have an adult son still living at home who works locally and a daughter in college. 3-5 hours alone maximum as Guy states usually someone is always home.

They currently have an Airedoodle (argh!!!) named Ralph who is 4 years old. Guy describes Ralph as friendly, full of mischief and wanting attention. Ralph weighs 89 lbs. The got him from a breeder with the intent of getting an Airedale but one of the breeding pair got hit by a car and subsequently was put down/died due to complications. The breeder was in High Point, NC. So….the breeder bred the remaining Airedale with a Poodle and they took one of the pups. This will be their 1st Airedale despite the application saying “NO”. An Airedoodle is not an Airedale.

They have had friends with Airedales and liked the breed. All of their dogs prior to Ralph were small. I asked why an Airedale and Guy said that they wanted a big dog (meaning Ralph) and they would like a playmate for Ralph. He is almost all black with a little bit of tan.

The back yard is fenced with a split rail fence that is further reinforced with cattle fencing. They used a crate for Ralph initially but he now has the run of the downstairs and sleeps downstairs.
Discussed the rescue process and the need to go into rescue with eyes wide open…as dogs often come with “baggage”.

I spoke with the Vet and Ralph is up to date on all vaccines/shots. There was nothing of import on his chart to disqualify being considered.

Personal reference had known applicants since 1986. She described them as good people and loving of their dogs.

                            Proceed to HV.

                                  to Caroline, Christina

                                  Hello Caroline,

We have a 14 month old male Airedale looking for his home. He was adopted but sadly the daughter of the adopters had a very bad accident and the adopter needs to focus on her care and caring for their grandchildren.

Henry is a sweet Airedale dog that needs some 1 on 1 time and training. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. He is heartworm positive and will require treatment beginning later this month. Airedale Rescue Group will pay for that treatment. During his treatment he will need to be kept calm, crate rested, walked on a leash with no high energy play. He will receive 2 treatments 30 days apart.

Please let me know if you are interested in Henry.
