to meGood morning,
A little over a week in and its going well with Luke. I’ve kept in touch with Stephen
and he has been helpful with his suggestions. Luke is a very early riser, and come to find
out Stephen awakes at 4:30 am each day. I wanted to follow up with you regarding the
foster agreement form. Thanks again for all your help.

Drop off was successful. Luke was fine with our dogs. Quite curious about the cats. Stephen is quite saddened with surrendering Luke. It was tough for him to say goodbye. We will stay in touch and try to visit. On Sat, Jul 20, 2024, 7:49 AM Pat Hairston

Bob-Thanks for letting me know. Stephen did send me a text that he was being Luke to you.
Please get his vet record as I don’t have a copy.
My thought is to see how connected Stephen wants to be and any decisions about Luke’s health in the future.
I will send you a foster agreement and make sure National will help with his care.

I will connect you 2 tomorrow so you can talk.
Thanks so much. By the way ARG & National will take care of all Luke’s medication and veterinary.

Bob-I do appreciate you so.
I have a women in Nashville that Stephen is bringing Luke to meet on Sunday. If that goes well, and Stephen feels good about it, once a minor fence repair is done Luke will go there.
If that does not work, when you are back from vacation, I will introduce you and Stephen.
Again, thank you so very very much.

Hey Pat. What a sad story that breaks your heart to hear. Yes we are interested and would be open to meet the owner well before surrender. We could drive this weekend or early next week. I would want the owner to feel good about us and know in his heart that Luke is going to a good home. We leave for vacation next Thursday and return on Sunday so we have a few days afterwards that we could drive over.
Thanks for thinking of us in this delicate situation.

Hi Bob,We have a need for a forever foster for 11 year old Luke. His person has to move into an assisted living facility by the end of August. He has already surrendered one Airedale that we placed and gave a dog to his sister.
Courtesy post: senior male Airedale looking for a comfortable home to live out his life. He has been with his person his whole life, lived with another dog and cats. He is 11 years old, 80 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is in the Nashville TN area or east, northeast of Nashville. We are trying to keep him close by where he lives.
Luke doesn’t do stairs very well or hard wood/laminate floors. He has bad hips. (My vet said there’s no cartilage left in his hip joints.). Use of rug runners would work. He is on pain meds, gabapentin, glucosamine, and gets a shot monthly. He went to the vet this morning and the owner asked the doctor about euthanasia for Luke. He doesn’t think Luke’s there yet. If you have a heart for a senior, can give him a comfortable home, continue his medication needs, the owner would be deeply appreciative. Airedale Rescue Group will provide the monthly medications and veterinary. Sadly the owner must move into assisted living that will not allow a large dog. He does not want to surrender him to a rescue that will just kennel him.
Luke was ok with cats but has not been around one in 4 yrs now.
ARG will provide for his medications, veterinary, grooming and food.
Please let me know if you would consider taking Luke in.
Thanks.

August 15, 2024 at 4:41 pm in reply to: 24-19 Poppy nee Maisie “Girl”, Female, Stray, Murfreesboro TN #322868/15/24: Kevin met the girl on Thursday AM. Has potential to be great dog, no signs of abuse, no focus, jumps a lot, “soft mouth” taking treats, could benefit from one-on-one training.
August 15, 2024 at 3:15 pm in reply to: 2024 Roper, Stacy and Tim, Fairview TN, good fence, 2 dogs, child grown, 0-2 hrs alone #322788/15/2024: Pat talked with Stacy. She does not work outside the home. They moved to this location about 3 months ago after spending months renovating the old farmhouse to make it liveable. They have Izzie, a 5 yr old Airedale, spayed and Ruby an 8 yr old wire fox. Both used to being around a lot of dogs. Everyone in her family has at least 2.
They got Izzie after being at a dog show and meeting Airedales. Her friend Kari has an Airedale and she then went to meet Kari’s dog. A few days later they drove 8 hours to get Izzie. She and Tim have been talking about adopting a second Airedale, so “girl” could be in a foster to adopt home.
Stacy texted that she already called the vet and could get her in on Monday for whatever we deemed the “girl” needed.
Christine called the vet reference. “Checked with Vet and they have been seeing both Izzy and Ruby (WFT)
They do not do vaccines with this clinic but indicate they go to Tractor Supply. The receptionist said that Rabies/Vaccines at Tractor Supply usually occur with a vet available that day to administer the vaccines and rabies (must have by vet). Makes sense.Came in when the dog is sick or for wound care.August 14, 2024 at 7:17 pm in reply to: 2024 Diane and John Nix, Murfreesboro, TN, Good fence, 2 Dogs, ADT Exp, #322698/14/24: approved for fostering agter trial by fire with female airedale found 8/11. to me, ChristinaPat,
Dorothy has been doing great. She did well while boarded and they got her monstrous long nails clipped using just some anxiety meds to settle her. Big improvement in her posture!
I have been handling her daily on the grooming table including holding her paws and muzzle. She is finally letting me use the scissors around her head and ears just a little bit. Would like to tidy up her ears . She actually likes touch and attention just gets easily over-aroused so have to be slow and calm.
She has learned to retrieve to a platform and will drop the ball for another toy or food. It is great to see her more interactive and focused on me.
She has some very good obedience from her previous formal training. I have worked to get offered attention and fade the head flick that resulted from the e-collar that was probably used too much for compulsive attention . She is excellent at place command . This is a great skill to help her manage arousal . I send her to place before she gets her food as well as to stop her compulsion to lunge at barriers when another dog approaches . She also has very good recall with a quick flip back when you say her name. She knows the standard sit and down. I have taught her that she can only take her food reward when I offer it with open hand . This has helped to address the mouthiness and grabbing and get some impulse control . She loves going for a walk has good leash walking skills . However one must be vigilant of distractions . She will yield to leash pressure and “let’s go” if you are paying attention and redirect her before she escalates to get after something. We have a lot of deer so have to be on top of that.
I think in new environments and with new dogs she will continue to get easily over-aroused. She just wants to get at anything that excites her . I do not believe she is aggressive but she also does not have good dog language so she can easily incite a fight with her rudeness. She would be fine with a big goofy dog that was not offended .
Dorothy needs an active home with someone experienced with dogs with a lot of drive and commitment. I find so many people looking to add a new dog to their home remember their 12-14 year old dog that has recently passed and forgotten the two year old terror.
Dorothy has a lot to offer someone that wants an active , bright , driven young dog . She is a lover of people and will snuggle when she is tired .Cindy

to ARGIf you guys want to keep the dog in foster with your rescue, I believe that will be fine. If you cannot continue to find a foster, someone must bring her in by appointment to our surrender desk. Ms. Diane stated she may not be able to keep long due to potential surgery, if this is the case she can call and set a surrender date if necessary. I will email you back with an account number for them to be able to attach it to. We usually hold the animal for up to 30 days before placing for adoption. The surrender number is our main number with option 6.
