      4/16/2021: Spoke with Cindy.

      to Jackie, Christina

I have talked with Cindy. This dog will be a wild one. Needs vetting, grooming, training, etc. this is a circumstance of 80+ yr olds getting a puppy and not able to do anything with it. Rarely let out to potty.

Monday or Wednesday will work best as Cindy will be at her father’s house. Father cannot handle the dog himself.

      BRING LEASH/COLLAR and/or Harness.

Someone will have their hands full.

Will check out list and see who might be up to the challenge. Need ADT experience.

            3:01 PM (1 hour ago)
            to me, Christina, Jackie

            Hi, Pat, Christina, and Jackie,

I spoke with Joanne and Carl Matricardi, as well as their vet and reference, Jim Hazen.

Per Hiawassee Animal Hospital, their dogs look to be current, shots and all.

Per their reference, Jim said he only has good things to say about them, “they are wonderful,” and they are great neighbors. He confirmed what Carl said that he walks the dogs 2 times a day, at least 1-1/2 miles per, and they always have extra dogs visiting.

In my phone call to the Matricardi’s, I spoke with both Joanne and Carl. Their son-in-law/daughter have a 5 YO male Airedale who they love and who is great with their 10 month old grandson. Their two personal dogs – the Ridgeback and Chinese Crested – are both 10 YO seniors. I asked if they’d ever had problems with their grandson and any of their dogs. One of the little dogs recently snapped at their grandson but he (grandson) is never left alone with the dogs. They have 3 daughters and each has 2 dogs. Despite all 8 dogs often being together, Joanne stated they don’t fight, although the schnauzer mix can get testy and the other dogs will just ignore him.

On the application, their fence is noted as wood posts and farm wire. I wondered what ‘farm wire’ entailed so asked to be sure it was secure, which it is:
            image.png
Joanne had mentioned in her app that they would like a female but had also expressed interest in Bruce, whom I noted was no longer up on the website. She said Bruce had sounded like a good fit but ideally they would like to foster to adopt so they can be sure of the dog’s fit with the family and the other dogs. This is how they brought their current Ridgeback into the home.

I asked how they would introduce the new dog to the other dogs and Carl told me they always introduced dogs outside in neutral space, usually on a walk, rather than just bring the new dog straight into the house.

Carl has had dogs all his life. They would like a puppy or young adult and, again, foster first before adopting.

The Matricardi’s should definitely be moved forward to the next step of home visit.

              to me, Christina

As you can imagine she was lovely, husband likes the stubborn dogs – (thank goodness)
She can’t think of a reason to ever give a dog back. They’ve been thinking about the breed for years, husband understands the temperament. She knows about how dirty the house can be and about beards. He has had many conversations with clients explaining why a dog is not a good fit for a family but they wouldn’t never give a dog back.

VET: Great people, always takes very good care of their pet. Baloo is UTD, has an appointment this Saturday for wellness check. Heartwarm, Nexguard, 6 month Bortella, and yearly Flu shot.

              Sounds like an easy fit.
I told her next step would be Mary contacting her for home visit.

A little background, Sean is a trainer in the Cumming GA area and works with Wendy Brown-Kerr. She has Georgia (dale), Jayne (Irish terrier) and just adopted one of the pups, River. Sean has also helped us with an evaluation of Charlie who was recently adopted.

They want an Airedale puppy and although it is rare we get pups, you know they sometimes fall from the sky. While this would be their first Airedale, they are not inexperienced with the breed.

Mary McEnaery could do the HV instead of Wendy.

                  Palmer,

We’ve reconsidered the commitment to taking on a canine family member and have decided against. We will need to cancel the planned home visit this coming weekend.

Sorry for the late notice but the approaching date brought attention and conversation here.

Nice woman, but the Goldendoodle sounds like a lot. Bo was rehomed twice for counter surfing, eating food out of little kids hands type of thing. She ‘walks him a specific times’ because he’s excitable. She walks him very early in the morning or late at night. He knocked her over. They have been to professional training and he has swam at the facility to tire him out.
Kid has seasonal allergies, Grandmom has a king Charles and he is allergic. I reminded her that terriers are to the ground so the Airedale would bring in pollen, grass, dirt that son may be allergic to. suggested she meet an Airedale (told her about the FB groups) and see if son can play with an ADT and see reaction.

VET: N/M, UTD, see 9/15/19 and 8/29/20, no ER visits for Bites, wounds or anything.

She’s lovely but I’m not sure it would be a good match due to son’s allergies and that she doesn’t really have control of Bo.
