Hi Barbara. Christina told me about several applicants, but it looks like we are talking about the same family in Kennesaw GA all the time. She also said that they have a very steep backyard and Teddy has had cruciate ligament problem several years ago and I think that would be a problem. Dogs with cruciate will always have some hip problems as they get older. I am really worried about this aspect of this prospective home for Teddy. I still hope there will be some other better options for him. On the other hand, the family on the whole looks like a perfect match. Could you ask Julie to send me a picture of their backyard just to see how badly sloped it is?

Hi Kristie, my name is Christina and i am a volunteer with ARG and was very happy to see your application. You have a nice background of terriers in your dog ownership! I know terriers are different than any breed of dog and you all have a good exposure to the terrier.

The next step is to have a phone interview. When is a good time that I can speak with you. I work in the day but can sometimes sneak off and have a conversation in the day or I can talk after 8 pm. Let me know what works for you. Thanks.

H Ana, thanks for applying to Airedale Rescue Group. It sounds like you have a great family for adding a new airedale to your life and routine. Pablo sounds like a great dog and I can tell you all take very good care of him. The next step in the application process is a phone interview. When is a good time that I could give you a call. Thanks and I look forward to talking to you.

Christina, I have done a lot of thinking about this Kennesaw family and it looks really good so far. There are a couple of concerns. Although Teddy is very good with children, he would probably chase kids on bicycles. He hates motorcycles and generally distrusts all bicyclists. He would probably need some time to get used to the idea that small people on bicycles are just OK. The other concern is Teddy’s special dietary needs. If they can make a commitment keeping him skin problems free by feeding him high quality dog food and supplementing it with real protein like cooked chicken and rice, that would be great.

I spoke to Clara on 8/25. Sherlock is a shadow dancer. He had a brush with death a few yrs back and has an auto immune disease. Vet has recommended no additional vaccines. Sherlock does live with a small poodle, about 16 lbs. poodle wandered up to Clara’s house 2 yrs ago. Sherlock and poodle play gently together. Sharing toys. When Clara went to sign her lease last week, she was advises of the 25 lb rule at her new apartment. She is heart broken about having to place Sherlock. She would like one more week with Sherlock. She will have him groomed this week

Hi Christina. Sorry I did not reply earlier. Could you please tell me about these approved applicants? Do they have other dogs? That would a plus. Fenced yeards? Teddy is an accomplished escape artist. Are they elderly people? Teddy needs a strong alpha type owner. He looks cute but he is a strong willed animal. He has been trained to walk on leash, but will pull you hard if he sees a cat. Cats are prey for him. He has killed squirrels, rabbits, rats and opossums in our backyard on many occasions. He also chases backyard birds, even songbirds. he has a very strong hunting instinct. Still. A terrier is always a terrier.

His pluses: he will never snap, bite, or even growl at you, and he is very docile, patient and obedient. He is a perfect dog indoors.

Of course, life is not perfect and it is very hard to find a perfect situation for him. But to me, he is like a child. I raised him since he was 8 weeks old and I would like to make sure that Teddy is placed in the best home. So, please do tell me about your prospective applicants. Thank you.

                          Hi Larysa,

Christina told me this morning that you are ready to place Teddy.

As I know we both have told you, we screen our applicants very carefully and seek the best possible match for all concerned.

The approved family I thought of for you when you first contacted us several weeks ago are Julie and Shawn Slenker in Kennesaw GA. I believe I told you about them, and Julie tried to call you to speak about him, but you did not respond at that time.

To recap: they already have Dudley, a male who they adopted from us.

They have a fenced yard. She travels a little for work, not for long absences. He works locally as a pharmacist at a hospital.

Dudley sounds very sociable and has special friends in the neighborhood. But they think he would be happiest with an in-home buddy.

They have two children, 8 and 6, who have learned to be respectful of dogs and know how to handle and not overwhelm them.

I would be happy to put you in touch again at your convenience for a conversation.

Hi Larysa, I wanted to check in with you about finding a home for Teddy. Do you still need ARG help. We have several interested approved applicants and he gets a lot of attention on our website – of course he is sooo cute. Please let me know your thoughts on proceeding, I get busy during the week and tend to neglect checking in, so I wrote to you again tonight. If you’ve found another option for him, please let me know. ARG will always be ready to help Teddy. Thanks.
