to meHey Pat,
We have had a lot of discussion over this and we are gonna make a huge group effort to give penny the attention she needs. Our kids understand our position and that they will need to help and they seem committed. I’m sorry if I wasted everyone’s time and our plan now is to give this new stance a few months and see how it goes. We also have spoke with a trainer to lend a hand.
Thanks so much!
Regards Matt

to Jackie, meHi Jackie and Pat,
My husband and I completed the home visit with Nancy Merritt yesterday. She was great, and I think she would be a wonderful ARG adopter. I have attached the form, and my comments about her are in red. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Julia

to susan, me, Jackie, ChristinaHi, ladies,
I had a great visit with the Rosenthal family. As requested, all family members were present. There were lots of good and well-thought-out questions from Brooke and Laurence, and the 4 kids. Maddie, of course, was a hit. : ) Maddie made the rounds with the family and gave them her stamp of approval. Lots of petting and attention from the family.
Although the yard isn’t super big, they plan on multiple and regular walks daily. They also mentioned the doggie door (for once the yard is fully fenced.) There are also some great parks in the area.
We did discuss the unfenced area. Wesely Rd. is a fairly busy residential road and cars can go pretty fast as they come around the bend so I suggested that they completely enclose the yard before they get the dog as they wouldn’t want to inadvertently leave the door unclosed and give the dog a chance to escape. The rest of the fence is about 5′ high at minimum (wall in the back so much higher).
I asked whether they had thought about a vet. Laurence is a rabbi and there are two vets in his congregation so they will go to one of them. We discussed flea/tick preventatives; when the time comes, they’ll discuss it with the vet. They asked me what Maddie eats so I told them and suggested they look at Dog Food Advisor ratings.
The Rosenthals will be a great Aire-family. They are conscientious and we did walk through the house to the back (all masked) and it was clear the house is a well lived in, relaxed home.
The kids and Brooke will be gone for a month in the summer and although Laurence will be home, they think it would be best to get a dog either before May or after July. Although Laurence’s synagogue is just a mile from the house, they think it’s best for the family to be home when the dog arrives, or not have 5 of the 6 of them take off for the month right after the dog arrives. Yet another of the many things they really took the time to think about.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I also spoke with John Kovacs but will send a separate email.

to mePat,
I had a home visit with Joe Thomas this morning. He is a great guy. He lives alone and would like a companion. He has a great fenced yard. The dog will be allowed on the sofa which makes me happy. He has had a lot of dog training experience and is looking forward to walking and entertaining an “ Aire” friend. I recommend him entirely.Chris Lincoln

Addie, meet Pat Hairston. Pat, I’ve updated Charlie (nee Sherlock) on the Board. He attacked another dog that he knows and walks with out of the blue and then nipped Addie’s 3yo son. Addie has a friend in a local kennel club who trains dogs and loves Charlie and is going to talk to him. I told her it is fine with us if this friend wants to foster Charlie with us paying medical even though the man is not going through us. She’ll let you know. Addie: 386-341-6128; Pat: 910-200-5890. Thank you, Pat, and thank you, Addie.

Pat I will keep you updated. This is not an easy decision for our family as Charlie is truly a member and we are going to take him to the vet at the earliest opportunity to see if it’s a medical issue that can possibly be remedied. Thank you both for your support.Jackie

Hello again! Just letting you guys know that after we spoke last Charlie did start to have some obvious health issues. Blood in his urine, painful hips / movement, and started using the bathroom in the house which is not normal. He wanted / needed to be outside almost every second- so the behavior issues were likely because of pain / discomfort. We got Charlie a full work up- blood work, urinalysis, rectal exam, ultrasounds, and x-rays. He is currently on pain/anxiety meds and antibiotics. Thank goodness there’s nothing in his bladder such as a stone polyp or mass and the veterinarian recommended antibiotics in hopes that it was just a UTI. He’s only on day two of the antibiotics and day three of the pain meds and he’s already acting like himself again. As always thank you Jackie and Pat For being there for me during my time of freak out. I think we put this issue to bed.

Good morning ladies- Charlie bit someone today. He was at a doggy day care and wanted to mount another dog and they went to separate them. He did not want to be separated and he bit the handlers arm. They reported it wasn’t an aggressive bite, and barely broke the skin but it was enough to scare them. I have to make this decision for my three years old- I will be surrendering him and his current meds etc to Avondale Veterinary Hospital tomorrow to be placed back in your care.I truly beg you- please do not let Stewart Wallace have this dog. He has one of Charlie’s litter mates and has caused much trouble for us. I do not believe he is psychologically stable and I do not want Charlie in his care. I know I have no right to say that but it’s truly my only request.
Charlie will be wonderful in a single dog home with no cats or smaller animals.
He needs to be in a home with NO small children or people expecting to add children. He is the most wonderful dog- and my heart is shattered but I have a three year old and I have to be smart for him.

Addie, I know this decision is difficult and has been a long time coming. We understand. And do not worry! Stewart Wallace will never get another dog from us!Please fill out a Relinquishment form on our website to allow us to place him. And please send current photos & copies of his medical records to info@airedalerescuegroup.com at your earliest opportunity. I will call your vet’s office to confirm that he is coming into our care. Are you paying for his boarding?

Addie – I am so sorry this is happening. It is a very difficult decision. In an earlier communication you had a friend who might want to foster Charlie. Have you checked in with them to see if they are still interested?March 14, 2021 at 3:55 pm in reply to: Private: 2022 New App: Stewart Wallace – Stone Mountain GA ADOPTED WATSON Feb 2015, purchased Bear 8/22; Adopted Mallory nee Shelby #270033/14/2021: Per Jackie Cash – DO NOT Adopt.
New application 06-08-22. I posted the above DNA but I think Stewart sounded much better than he had been in the year or so leading up to that post in 2021. He had anger issues. Watson, however, was a difficult dog and had bitten several times–a neighbor, a friend who came to visit, and Stewart himself. I would consider him but not for a youngster and he will need a new home visit because he has moved. He has also told me that he is moving to FL, maybe as soon as later this summer to be near his daughters and grandchildren.
I just re-read his old app and our comments. He did not keep Watson updated on his vaxes and hw testing/treatment. I do not recall whether he and I talked about that; I feel certain we did and that probably contributed to my decision not to adopt to him.
I would address this with him and see how he explains it. And, let him know we want his vet records on Watson as part of this process.
He asked about Patton but I told him I thought she was taken, so we’ll move on from there.

to me, JackieLOVED!!! Joe Thomas.
76 yo, active man – retired state trooper. Had Dales in the 70’s, spent 2 years with the Chicago obedience team. Understands that things are different. Back then they used choke collars and he understands and doesn’t use them at all. He helped a neighbor who’s dog wouldn’t do anything and now the dog can walk on a leash and get in the car.Would like a senior dog that needs a home of comfort, and would like dog to be good in the car.
Walks daily, would take to dog park, mentioned there is a creek for dog to enjoy sniffing….I mean, this man gets it.
Fenced in yard that has 2 doors Joe must open. no dog door.Needs home visit.
thanks

to bayager@comporium.net, me, airedalemail@comcast.nethi – Pat, you and I can catch up on phone tomorrow.
Wanted everyone to think about this. No need to contact anyone but we need to think of a possible adopter for Macleans foster Finley. Then, Kevin wants to review the applicant, they want a ‘say’ in where Fin goes. Last night on phone, Kevin said they are only 40-60% going to keep him. So, if you can think of one of our A List/Gold adopters who is in need of dale, please give feedback 🙂He thinks that Fin needs:
A couple
However he definitely need a man in his life
When Kevin returned from his trip, after Chris had care for Finley for the initial days, she became 2nd fiddle and Kevin is King
Not a first time Airedale owner
Someone who has been heartbroken by an Airedale and Finley will fill their heart
Someone who needs a Clancy – that was his analogy about Finley. If you remember Clancy, he was Kevin’s ARG ‘dale who was just a great dog.
Only dog
Separation anxiety – got out of crate
consider a flight risk
Sleeps next to Kevin on floor
Finley is an old soul – in mannerisms and behaviorThey can keep for another week
Wants us to comb through names. A list gold member. He says this dog is an Oliver if Oliver had been intervened early. Bay, I know you’re familiar with Oliver

Applicant:
Caroline Orman
512 Metcalf Street
New Bern, NC 28560
Phone: 252-622-2293
e-mail: carolineorman@gmail.comSize of Home: approximately 2400 square feet
Setting:
Semi-urban
Well-kept
Most floors are hardwood without carpeting. The home is a late 1800’s, early 1900’s home that is mostly restored by owner (some projects still ongoing). Furnishings are newer. There current dog (Champ) an 11 year old Airedale has the run of the first floor and sleeps in the keeping room off the kitchen. He is permitted access to upstairs but prefers not to go up the stairs. The backyard is completely fenced in and is of ample size (about 50 x 70).
The family has 2 children a boy aged 10 and a girl aged 8. Both seem to adore Champ and he responds lovingly to them. During Covid the children have been homeschooled. Mother has stayed home and father works outside the home. The plan is August of this year is for the children to return to classrooms and for Mother to work outside the home, which will leave Champ by himself for the first time in 18 months.
There will not be significant lifestyle compromises as they have had an Airedale for 7 years There are no other pets in the home at this time. They are looking for an Airedale to keep Champ company on days weekdays when all family members will be out of the home, starting in August Watching both children and both adults interact with Champ, its obvious that he’s loved and considered an important member of the family. Champ was a rescue so they have an awareness of the time it may take for a new dog to adapt. They have a vet who they have used for Champ who they trust. Regarding the issue of the dog being housebroken, they want one that is, but expect that accidents will occur.
I believe this family represents a safe and caring home for their current Airedale and would be just as caring of another.
Conclusion:
I approve this applicant without reservation
Additional comments:
Ideally, if an Airedale were to become available, sooner is better because that will give Champ time to adjust to a new family member.Joseph Klotz – evaluator

Hi Tamara,ARG has a 9 yr old female Airedale that has been relinquished. She is remaining with the owner as we locate a new home for her. Her name is Padme (pad-mae) and her is some info about her.
She is a sweet, adult-oriented, 70 pound, exuberant girl looking for the love of a new mom, dad, or both. She has not spent time with children and, as a result, they make her nervous.
Padme was the only dog and had dad’s undivided attention up until a few years ago, but her new mom is allergic and they have been unable to resolve this issue. She has always been possessive of both food and toys. This was not a problem until a new pup came along. Although Padme does not share well, this has not escalated into a fight but has been limited to loud vocalization and teeth showing. Padme is an inside dog who loves car rides and grooming. She is not a fan of other dogs and will need some work with leash walking again.
She is a healthy girl and will be due for vaccines and heartworm testing in the near future which ARG will pay for. Please let me know if you might consider adding this beautiful girl to your family.

March 5, 2021 at 3:57 pm in reply to: 2021 Seth Lowns, Lexington SC, NO ADT Exp, No pets, Fence?, 30 acres – DECLINED #269523/5/21: After a review of the responses on the application, this applicant was not given to any of the reviewers. These are the are of concerns:
Based on your responses I am a little confused as to whether or not the area for the dog is fenced or if the dog will run at large on your property. B 1. What type of material is your fence made of?: e. No fencingB 1. f. If “Other” please describe your fencing: We live in the woods, 3/4 of the property is fenced.B 2. What is the height of your fencing?: c. 5-8ftB 3. Please indicate length and width in feet or acres. e.g. 200 ft x 100 ft.: 30 acres
I am also concerned that you indicated there is no leash law in your area; it took me less than 5 minutes to find the law in Lexington County B 9. Is there a leash law in your community?: b. NoCan my dog run loose on my property? The Restraint and Confinement Ordinance (Chapter 10:34) of the County states that all dogs must be restrained or confined at all times. If the dog is not confined and on its owners property, then the owner must be outside with the pet and the pet must be obedient to the owner’s verbal command. If there is no one outside with the pet, then it must be confined. This applies to all property owners regardless of the size of the property.
I am also concerned where a dog would stay when you are not at home.
D 4. Describe how the dog would spend a typical workday or weekend at your home. Where will the dog stay when you are at work or out of the house? : My mom would keep the dog during the day while I was at work. Either in her house or in our abandoned chicken area. It’s shaded and fenced in and we still have plenty of fence to make it bigger as the dog does too 🙂polite decline sent.
3/5/21: Talked with Cindy about 2 yr old Penny. They are not ready. Greg just took a job outside the home and the work days are long. Maybe in 2022.
