Text from Becky 6/21/23
Hi there – wanted to give an update. River is doing good, eating a tad better (slower) but still wanting to hog food down. Her stools have been good; feeding a rice, pumpkin, and puppy food mixture still. She always wants to play, and is eager for attention. 😊
The bad news – as much as we want to keep her, I don’t think we can. Our dogs, especially Lilly, are not adjusting well. River has a lot of energy and I don’t think we are the right fit for her now. We didn’t think our dogs would react negatively. At the time, we can’t give the right attention to all 3 that they need. River has so many great qualities and if it was just her with us, we would keep her. I’m sure it would get better with time but they are all too much for us right now. Jay is really upset, as he hates to “pass her along” but I know it will be better for her.
I know it will take time to make plans for her – please let me know what we can do to help. We are free the next few weekends (I know one is a holiday). July 13th I’ll be going to Wrightsville for work – through Sunday. I’m sorry to not keep her but I want the best for her, and also thought we would be able to make it work. 😕

June 9, 2023 at 4:58 pm in reply to: 23-13 Sammy, Male-intact 11 months REHOMED BY OWNER- Deceased #307016/5/2023: Sammy has tetralogy of fallot which is multiple birth defects of the heart. The birth defects include four heart abnormalities: right ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of heart muscle on right ventricle), an overriding aorta, pulmonic stenosis (obstruction of blood flow through the pulmonary valve) and a the hole between the two ventricles (technically known as the ventricular septal defect). His life expectancy is less than one year. The NC State vet recommends no medications as he appears to be managing. Limited walks, limit interactions with other dogs, no vaccines. Obviously no neutering or repair of the hernia.
I suggested the family talk and talk with their local vet that saw Sammy.
Today, I received a message that they let the pup cross the Rainbow Bridge. Honestly, it had to be the most difficult but humane decision.
I am incredibly sad for this family. I did promise her ARG would adopt her when their hearts were ready. I hope it will not be long. I think they need a young pup to help their shattered hearts begin to heal.June 8, 2023 at 12:42 am in reply to: 2023, 2022 Shelly (deceased) & John Browne, Kennesaw GA, Good fence, ADT Exp, 1-2 hrs, no pets Adopting Boone? #306886/6/2023

‘ Hi Pat! Jack Oudin let me know that there is an immediate need for a foster in the Charlotte area. I’m located in Charlotte with my husband and sweet 5 year old dale Maple – is a foster still needed? We would love to help and maple would love a friend!
I already put an application in to ARG quite a while ago to adopt but we are not ready to adopt quite yet- but happy to foster since we have a big yard and plenty of time on our hands to help train.
My reply: Hello Atisha- Thank you for messaging. We
have a foster for the dog so we are good. If that should change I will reach out. PatJune 3, 2023 at 12:23 am in reply to: 2022 Rebecca and Jay Wolbers, York SC, ADT Exp, Volunteers, Good Fence, 2 Dogs (ADT & Welsh), 8-9 hrs alone #30677Current phone is (740) 360-8265

Hi Pat!
Thank you so very much for thinking of us! She is absolutely adorable and sounds like the perfect doggo for a family with kids! I am thrilled that she has a foster set up already – she deserves the world!
We actually adopted a 9-month old Airedale last month through SOAR, thanks to you!! Her name is Deborah (Debbie the Dale) and she is an absolute wild child, and we love her the most. She is 70 pounds, jumps higher than your head, and already dug a hole to China during her first week home. We have some one-on-one training lined up to start next week 😂.

May 7, 2023 at 11:54 am in reply to: 2021 Anne Daletski, Union Mills NC, Good Fence, ADT Exp, Foster-Harry #306054/2023 Harry (nee Moose) was placed in foster care with Anne D. to get him out of the surrender home. Drama pursued over weeks because of Harry’s behavior chewing, destroying and lack of training. ARG engaged a trainer that met with Anne and Harry and we asked Cindy Green to talk with her. Anne never followed up with either trainer. Messages continued to Jackie which culminates in an urgent plea to get Harry into another home on 4/25.
New home found for Harry and when Anne was told she was angry, mad, yelling, screaming and would speak over what ever Pat or Jackie were trying to say. She insisted she now wanted to adopt Harry, however, we agree this is not a good fit for Harry.
Tried to move him on 4/29 but Justin P had just had knee surgery and they negotiated one more week. Harry picked up on 5/6. More drama with Anna including a video of her crying and telling us we ruined her
life. Message from Anne to Jackie. “Today you broke my heart and I don’t think Harry is anxious to be leaving me. Look at his expression. If this adoption by this younger family doesn’t work out, I want him back. I love Harry.”More drama pursued as she took her anger to FB on Airedale! group. Pat reached out to Linda McVey, an admin, and asked for the post to be reviewed. Linda eventually removed the entire post and blocked Anne.
We since learned Anne is adopting an Airedale from an all breed rescue in IL.
