Look what we found underneath all that puppy hair! He is so handsome and so very sweet. Dr. Waite is confident he is a very healthy boy. Heartworm was negative under microscope, but he sent it to a lab to be certain and we should hear about that tomorrow. He is scheduled for neuter on Thurs. if lab work is negative. I took him for a long walk yesterday and he is very good on a leash. He waited very patiently while I picked up after him, but he will not and is not interested in sitting (needs work there). I have never heard him bark nor has the kennel keepers, so that is a plus, he is very quiet boy. He does weigh 55 pounds (a little thin) but he is a good eater and once his life settles he will put that on in no time. He is very smart and

listens well he just needs someone very gentle to help him with his basics. He is a dream of an Airedale and just wants to be loved and he likes to give lots of love back.

I will let you know about blood lab work and neuter tomorrow I hope there is a wonderful family waiting for this very special boy.

I hope you also get the picture I attached let me know if you didn’t.

I took Hudson on a long walk this morning and he is a great guy. He probably has never been walked, but generally did well. He is very affectionate and gentle and will make a great addition to someone’s home.

We have not seen any aggression and he loves to please and give kisses!

We took him to the kennel this morning after he ate a good breakfast at our house. He will be groomed shortly and vet checked Monday. More pics, once he is more handsome. He is a great find and appears to be quite healthy

the dog is lovely, quiet and a leaner, seems a little shy, and when we got out and other dogs were barking he did not bark back–pulled away opposite the dogs–then saw the office and pulled toward the door. very happy inside and friendly towards the staff.

great in the car, medium size dog, gentle when she took a cookie, very attentive to her owners listened when he called and went to him immediately

well groomed, clear eyes, seems in excellent health, soft mouth, short tail-3 inch or so,nice ears

          good looking dog

I hope you were able to get the vet records. If not, let me know which clinic has them and I will see what I can do. I only know what some of the people told me that picked her up when she was wandering the streets of Fairbanks. She was very sweet, got along with their small dog (it may have been a bossy dog, who knows). She had an injured foot at that time and she let them look at it and clean the wound. The only time I talked to her owners, I was told that she came from somewhere outside of Alaska, they didn’t remember. So, she has really covered a lot of territory.

            Always,

I see you have Zelda. I tried for a couple of years to get her into rescue here. She popped up on Craigslist several times when someone would find her out wandering around. Her owners are in Fairbanks and I am in Wasilla, an 8 hour drive. I had people up there ready to pick her up, but the owners wouldn’t even discuss it. I see they let someone else have her and now they have given her up. It’s amazing to me that she has traveled so far. She was always running loose and got pretty far from home several times, but this really takes the cake. I hope you are able to find a good home for her, I had people waiting to meet her and possibly adopt, but sadly, it never happened. It’s good to know that she is finally safe in rescue. Let me know how it goes with her.

Give her a good ear scratch from me.

I grew up with Airedales, so I do know they were bred to get small animals. We have a very submissive male dog, and she still does not get along with him. I wish she would! Also, forgot to mention that she did have a benign mammary tumor removed right before we adopted her. What would happen at the meeting Monday? Would we hand her over then?

She is an adorable dog, and I hate to give her up, but she just doesn’t fit in with our family. I hope you can find the perfect family for her. We can get her to Savannah.

                    Subject: Airedale needs new home

Hi, my name is Christina Ketchen. I have a 9 year old female Airedale, Zelda, I need to surrender. I adopted her 3 months ago in Alaska, and have since traveled down to Decatur, Alabama. We have tried incorporating her into our family with our cat and other dog, but unfortunately, she does not get along with other animals. She is a very sweet, devoted, and playful dog, but we cannot get her to accept our other pets. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and generally healthy. She has apparently had untreated ear infections in the past, as she has cauliflower ears. She’s great with people, and calm in the house. My family is military, and will be traveling to Georgia on Saturday, and hope we can find a place for her before we leave. Please let me know if this is a possibility, as soon as possible. Thank you for any help you can give me, in this urgent situation. I do not want to leave her at the shelter here, as it is a kill shelter, and she deserves better.

He keeps breaking the chain and hunting season is starting up and she is afraid he will get shot. He cannot come in the house because he lifts his leg and is not housebroke. They have no way of containing him, no crate, no pen, no nothin’.

There are two vets in the area, neither do boarding.

I told her we would keep trying to find a foster home for him.

There is no thread for him on BB, and I almost forgot until I got the paper surrender form in the mail yesterday.

BL heard from Amy on 10/20ish

She initially said she would keep him until good home was found. Now she wants him out. She keeps saying she is afraid he will break the chain again and since hunting season is starting, he will get shot in the woods.

I do not think she would be willing/able to transport any distance. Possibly to somewhere like Huntsville if we had someone there to collect him.

He is only two years old.

Captain and Chico were dog aggressive. They could not be near other dogs. At the kennel, they needed a kennel space between them and other dogs due to aggression. The kennel worker called me crying bout their aggression issues, PTS 10/2013
