A very large dog is not an option. My health, while fine, isn’t putting me in a position to deal with a 65+ pound sudden lunge. I note the the info on Rosie indicated she was 60 lbs, but when she arrived she was barely 45. I’m not saying “never”, but over 60 would require some special circumstances.

This is a good transport location for between Asheville and Knoxville.
Paul may work on Saturdays – so have to plan for his schedule

6-2025 Duncan is 4 years old, 136 lb. Goes to dog park once week and runs with all dogs. Lives with Cats. Fenced yard (when I spoke to Gloria about transport, they had a storm the prior night and a tree fell on their fence). Duncan has hip displaysia.

Gloria and Paul will help with a transport across TN/NC from Newport to Hot Springs. There has been another rock slide in I40 and I 40 is closed. Gloria warned that everyone is using the Newport route – semi trucks, all traffic is routed along this tiny town and route. She can’t even get out of her driveway at times because of all the re-routed traffic.

Wilmington, about half way between Wrightsville and Carolina Beach. If you know where Krispy Kreme is, I’m right across College Rd from KK.

5/2025 I asked lynn for help with a transport. She responded that she is not interested in anything with Airedales. I recommend DO NOT CONTACT Lynne.

                              Christina,
There are a lot of things I do to manage a multiple dog household. I particularly enforce lot of rules when a new dog is introduced. This minimizes conflict and makes it clear to all the dogs that I will take care of things .
I limit the amount of time that the new dog interacts with the established dog residents and I chose as large an area as possible for this interaction. When in smaller spaces I use a baby gate to separate.
I absolutely separate to feed .
I also routinely use crates and/or outdoor runs and have the dogs confined side by side . This is a good why to let them bond but have their own personal space.
There are many little things that go a long way to help safely establish order
I am sure the older male finds the younger male to be “ a bit much” . They need to be careful that they honor the older males needs such that he does not feel the need to escalate his discomfort into a fight .
The new younger male also needs to understand some boundaries and what is required to be accepted into the household.

hello – Tomorrow is the day that we will have Loki transfer to Anna and Dave. Anna and Dave live in Knoxville area and they are former adopters of our beloved Ned Pepper. Loki will join their family with Anna, Dave, their two children and Ned Pepper. It is a bittersweet day for Danielle so we know that this is not an easy day either.

Danielle – what types of things will you be sending with Loki? Sometimes it is easier on transition if you send a famillar toy or balls or whatever he likes with him.

Vet records are transferred – no need to worry about paper docs.

Feel free to call each other today or tomorrow if you think of anything or want to ask questions about Loki.

Sunday May 25 3:00 Asheville – meet up for you all for exchange of Loki
