We have someone who lives in Fayetteville GA who has been interviewed by our applicant volunteer and is ready for a home visit. I wondered if you would like to/be able to home visit this applicant.
Due to COVID, we don’t need you to go into the home. It’s fine to meet outside, talk to the applicant, see her interaction with dogs, check out her fence and area the dog would be. If you all are willing, I will send an intro to mail to set these expectationsI know the weather is cold and snowy and potentially more this weekend so there is flexibility on when it could be done!

Good Morning Ladies,
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I send you this email. Yesterday morning, we found our dear, sweet, precious Allie dead in her crate. I am trembling as I type, as I still cannot believe or understand why she is gone. I just looked down at my feet thinking she would be there as she always was. On Monday evening, she threw up about 3-4 small piles of bile. Nothing was in them, and she and all of our dogs through the years have had a little tummy ache now and then, so we really didn’t think anything of it. She did drink more than usual after, but we again thought that seemed normal since she had just thrown up. She did not act or seem abnormal at all! We all went up to bed like normal around 11:00, and she went into her crate. No abnormal sounds, groans, nothing. I cannot begin to tell you the sadness and disbelief we are experiencing. We are devastated, and quite honestly, numb.
We know that these signs lead to the thought that she ingested some kind of poison. We have absolutely nothing at the disposal of our dogs. Nothing! As a matter of fact, when we purchased this house over two years ago, Rick also made sure to check all the plants in the backyard before bringing at that time, Reggie our lab, and Jack, our other Airedale, into the yard. Reggie and Jack are fine, and she has been romping in the yard with her two buddies for close to two years now.
Having been dog lovers and owners our entire lives, we are obviously no strangers to losing our dogs, but this is just not right. She was only 3 years old. We simply have no idea what happened, and are in a state of shock. I did not go to work yesterday, and wonder how I will be able to go in today, but I do understand that I must go on. Rick did finally go to work for a few hours yesterday, but said he accomplished nothing.
We miss her desperately, and I can honestly say that I have never had a dog with such a sweet disposition.
I chose not to post her loss on Facebook, and am unsure if I ever will. I know I have to accept that she is gone, but for now, I simply need to grieve. I cannot believe that I still have tears streaming down my face, as I didn’t think I had any more tears to shed after the past 27 hours.
We love you Allie, and will never forget you, sweetie.

First, I apologize for the delay to get the two of you together. Mary has interviewed Pam and asked me to find someone in the area for a home visit. Lauren is an arg adopter and also in the clemmons area and Lauren agreed to conduct the home visit and I forgot to introduce you two.So, Pam, our next step is to meet an ARG volunteer, Lauren for the home visit. Due to COVID, it’s best to keep the home visit outside and that means that you all should meet outside, talk about airedales and see the yard and fence area. I know it’s going to be COLD and possible inclement weather again this weekend, so please work out when this can work for both of you between weather, work and schedules.
I really appreciate both of your time for this next step in the adoption process. Christina

I am sorry it took a long time to get back to you. I wanted to take my time and get my family’s feelings and my thoughts together before I responded. At first thought, I was willing to give it a go but after sitting down with my husband, I realized now is not the best time. We are going to Portugal and Spain in April and will be gone 2 weeks. Immediately after getting back, we have to go to Florida for my son’s graduation. Then, in May, we are going to my daughter’s graduation from the University of Vermont. I don’t really have anyone that could stay at the house with a new dog and I really would not like to board her for that long of a time. I think we should probably put aside adoption until June due to these issues. I do take care of my son’s 12 pound MiniGoldendoodle (1 year old male) from time to time. He is extremely well socialized and gets along with everyone and everything! I am really sorry to turn down Poppy because it looks like most of her issues have to do with youth and could be handled over time. Please keep me in mind for the future and I am sorry that I have to turn her down.
