Maxfields were offered a dog that was surrendered (form) to us from Atlanta area. The finder of the male ‘dale decided to keep the dog in the end. Maxfield wanted to adopt him but I had to let them know that the owener decided to not surrender to ARG

I just wanted to let you know that I decided to say goodbye to Cooper a couple of weeks ago. His problems with his back legs / spinal cord just became too much and his quality of life was really deteriorating. The only option left was spinal surgery, and I couldn’t put him through that at his age. He was the sweetest boy and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to rescue him.
I’m not ready for another dog yet, but will let you know when I am.

On Saturday 8/26, Jack will travel to Cindy in Florence for foster and training so that he can become a more amazing Airedale! Saturday will be bittersweet for John & Shelley but thank you for providing a loving environment for Jack when he needed it! Safety:
Regular safety – please ensure that you are aware of Jack when opening car doors, transferring him from person to person, always making sure a hand is on the leash. Unless necessary, remain in car until transport transfer occurs; when opening car doors, ensure that the leash is secured by hand on the leash; when allowing potty breaks – ensure that collar/leash(s) are tight for no escape; be aware of surroundings – even a plastic bag in the wind may spook a dog in unfamiliar settings. Do not let her off leash at any time. Double Leashing is preferred if you have a slip lead to bring along for your leg of the trip.
Do not feel the need to walk Jack outside if you arrive early. Sitting in the car will be fine for him. (If you have a water bowl, please bring it so he can take a water sip between cars to keep him hydrated).
PLEASE USE YOUR CHILD LOCKS so that Jack cannot accidentally open a window or door! (It has happened! Airedales are very smart!)

Subject: Re: AiredalesHello Fred – Nice to talk to you this morning. Here is the info that we know about Buck. Can you go to the Maryville shelter today to meet him and hopefully bring him home for a ‘foster’ situation. In fostering, ARG pays for any medical that is needed during the foster duration. Fostering is likely around 2 weeks but could be longer. For instance, we may try to get him neutered during fostering so it could take longer. He is a great age – age 4 so he is past the puppy age and people like that. On the other hand, you all have all first rights to him so if you decided its time for an Airedale again, then you could adopt him!

As mentioned, he was a surrender to the shelter in Maryville by an older man. They were told he was raised by an older man to be a guard dog. He prefers men to women. They said he is leash, house and crate trained and approx 4 years old. He isn’t neutered.
I know you want to meet him first – would you be willing to go ahead and meet him, bring him home then if its not right for you all, ARG would put him into a kennel/boarding situation and you would just need to take him there. We need to get him out of the shelter as they are full. (Sad!)
