I am sorry for not getting back to you. My life has been a struggle with legal and financial issues with family court.
I think he would be a great owner, with a great home for an Airedale. He is an experienced owner. HIs previous dog passed away. He lives on a very quiet peninsula on Lake Norman here in Charlotte. His house is on at the end of cul de sac and super dog safe. His home is very large and and well kept. They have a very large yard with a sturdy metal fence. I would have no reservations’ recommending him.
Spay –
3 1/2 weeks from when they picked up Poppy – she went in for spay and vet called and said she has a spay scar. No spay necessary
3 weeks ago – Poppy went into heat.
Took a bit to figure it out – orange spots on floor but also same as when these lady bugs died on their floor. Then noticed Poppy licking herself and realized she was in heat.Stacey’s Family – Ruby WFT, another Airedale who is 6, Izzy
Poppy and Izzy get along really well. Poppy loves Izzy.Poppy does not have any negative feelings about Ruby. Ruby WFT growls and is moody and grumbly and older. She growls when she plays. Poppy has been very corrective when Ruby makes that growl. Been quite a few squirmiest. Never lunged or grabbed Ruby.
There has been one or two times that she was afraid Poppy would start a fight with Izzy but generally over a bone or treats or something high value.
She has worked with Poppy a lot and having food at same time as Izzy. Keep in different rooms when they have a bone.Incident:
Niece arrived and the dogs love the nieces. The nieces came into the driveway gate and Stacey was holding Poppy at collar. Ruby squealed and Poppy went after her. Threw her around like a dog toy. (I think this is instinct and the sound that Ruby made was a wild animal.). Stacey threw herself on top of Ruby. Probably when Poppy came out of Stacy’s hand hold – she broke her finger. Stacy also has a black eye from when she threw her body on top of Ruby.About Poppy:
Poppy loves to run loose in their 6 acres fenced yard. Poppy has keen mole removal skills. She has done an amazing job of removing moles from her field.
Poppy is a snuggler. She sleeps in bed at night with them. She is a lap dog and sits on lap while watching TV. Overall she has completely stolen their hearts.Obedience
She sits for her food. Poppy has to make eye contact with Stacy, then she says ‘good’ and she can eat. She is a smart learner
Sit. Lay down. Touch -she holds out her thumb and says touch and she coming running over to touch her nose to thumb.Needs work on ‘come’ command. When she wants to do something else, ‘come’ is out the door.
Because of the way their house is set up with 6 acres fenced, Poppy runs out front and back door b/c their fence/gate is at driveway. This would need to be a learning curve for Poppy because she loves an open door/gate to run off. If she got away, she would not come when called
Knows WAIT and STAY – it registers to her but she would not trust her to not dart out the door. Needs more work.
Does not walk on leash based on their 6 acres fenced. She runs their fields.
Poppy has a tracking gps collar and Stacy will send that with Poppy. New owner would need to activate/subscription but she’ll send the gps collar.
Stacey thinks that Poppy needs a large yard. She runs around all day long. At night – have to force her to come in. She loves outside.
No jumping over fence – jumps on it to see a small dog across street. They walk it and Poppy and Izzy put paws on fence to bark and see the small dog as they go by. But she does not attempt over. But she would go for an open gate.She is hand strip her and Stacey says that she is gorgeous. (Stacy used to be a groomer)
Should not be around smaller dogs.

When she sits she lifts her paw up for a shake – repeat. Does well with grooming (had not been groomed prior to coming to Sarah).

They went with the hardest pairing – female, older, easy lab and
have not seen her with other males
Came from CL – picked up in IL – free on CL but came from a breeder – Amish breeder (different culture for dogs). They had her and did not disclose a lot. Probably had a litter of puppies, kept her outside, free feeding. Was 78 lbs when they got her. Good with their kids and apparently friendly with farm animals – had a goat pal.
Has slimmed down!
Has not spayed due to HW. Going through HW and 7 mos in and wait one year. Has gone into heat 2x. End of December 2024. Got her in June – when they got her.
Very excitable personality. Heartbroken that they need to this but for health. Have about 1 acre property. Keep her on leash. Good on leash – does not tug a lot. Working on keeping her calm when other dogs go by. She does not lose her mind when other dogs go by (other dogs in neighborhood do). Uses gentle leader and standard collar.
Nigel passed away in 2/2025. Moved to ‘waiting for spare ‘dale’ without their permission, just because they’ll eventually be ready. Repeat adopter.

Subject: Nash Transport on Saturday 2/15/25Hello Thank you for helping to get our big boy (90lbs!) Nash to his foster dad on Saturday 2/15 (Tomorrow). We appreciate each of your help to drive a leg of the journey to his foster dad. We know that Nash hates cats! I doubt there will be cats at the transport change locations but be aware – even a small dog may peak his interest.
Safety:
Regular safety – please ensure that you are aware of Nash when opening car doors, transferring him from person to person, always making sure a hand is on the leash. Unless necessary, remain in car with A/C until transport transfer occurs; when opening car doors, ensure that the leash is secured by hand on the leash; when allowing potty breaks – ensure that collar/leash(s) are tight for no escape; be aware of surroundings – even a plastic bag in the wind may spook a dog in unfamiliar settings. Do not let him off leash at any time 😊 Do not feel the need to walk Nash outside if you arrive early. Sitting in the car will be fine for him. (IF you have a water bowl, please bring it so he can take a water sip between cars to keep him hydrated)
