HI Marci – Do not worry. We’ve got it. Pearl is safe. She was dropped off at a daycare. We are covered.I responded to Michael 3 or 4 times this morning to let him know I was working on something. I was responding – not sure if he thought I was not Airedale Rescue or what.
Please know we’ll find a home for Pearl. Your 5 weeks with her gave us such valuable insight on her and we know she’s a sweetie.
NOr really sure what happened with Michael and Pearl overnight. It does not matter 🙂
Sorry you got exposed to some of this internal stuff with them!!!

>March 29, 2023 at 12:12 am in reply to: 2023 Margaret (Peg) Tomb, Adel GA, Good Fence, ADT Exp, 2 dogs (1 ADT), 1 Cat #30463Applicant Name: Margaret “Peg” Tomb
Interview Date: March 21, 2023
Status: Approved for home visit.
(Peg lives in the country in the south/central part of Georgia so we may need to have her send photos/videos if there’s no one in the area to do the HV. It’s about 3 hours from Atlanta. Interestingly, in 1996 I got my Beja and Blue from a backyard breeder in Adel.)
Peg lives in the country on 1.25 acre lot. One acre of the property is fenced.
She has only been there about a year, having moved around a bit after her divorce, after being married 32 years. She moved to the Ozarks, then Maryland, then Delaware, before making the move south.
Currently, she has a pony, a 5 YO female (spayed) Airedale, Betsy Ross (she got her on 7/4), a 5 YO Border Terrier/Shih Tzu mix (female, spayed), and an 11 YO cat. All the animals get along. She also has chickens and the dogs are okay with them; one actually flies into the dogs’ area and they just play.
Although Betsy Ross is Peg’s first Airedale, she has long been familiar with the breed because her grandfather bred and raised them from the 1920s to the ‘50s. She had always wanted one but first her father, then her husband, would not let her have a dog; as soon as she was divorced, she got Betsy Ross. Peg got Betsy Ross as a puppy from Brian Devlin, a breeder in Philipsburg, NJ. She noted 3-4 months as a reasonable time for an adopted dog to acclimate.
Peg just passed her Commercial Driver’s License and will be starting a new part-time job as a school bus driver. She retired as a manager with Verizon. She will be out of the house for just an 1-1/2 hours in the AM and 1-1/2 hours in the PM.
Food: Peg feeds her dogs Pure Balance Grain Free Salmon & Pea but adds to that different stews she makes for them – chicken, rice carrot, turmeric, beets, sometimes tripe, beef, beef liver, lamb. Those dogs eat well! She even has a photo of a really tasty looking doggie-stew on her FB page. She also has a lot of photos of the dogs, including a photo of the 2 dogs and cat all sleeping together.
Annual Cost: Peg notes $3,000 annually for all costs for a dog.
Exercise: Peg was in a car accident so cannot walk well but she told me the dogs get plenty of exercise running around in her large fenced in yard. She also plays with them, throws the ball, etc.
Vet References: I spoke with two of her previous vets. The animals are up to date on vaccines and get Tri-Heart Plus (HeartGuard Plus equivalent). She is planning on switching to ProHeart 12, the new annual shot for heartworm.
Personal References:
Both Scott Hresan and Kirk Greaser spoke very highly of Peg as a dog-mom. Scott: “She over the top with all her dogs,” who get “the best of everything. “She’s a wonderful person,” this from her ex-husband. Kirk also said she was an awesome person who is marvelous with dogs. “They eat like kings.” Kirk has a golden retriever so I asked him if something happened to him would he be okay with the dog going to Peg and he said that yes, he “absolutely trust[s] her.”
Interest: Peg was interested in Pearl but I let her know that she would not be a good fit because she is a dominant female. She would like a younger dog because she dreads the thought of losing her dogs; this is the reasons she noted she doesn’t want a dog with a health problem. She would be interested in fostering. She doesn’t mind waiting for the right dog to become available.
Peg asked about how she would get her dog when s/he became available so I told her it depended on where the dog was coming from and if it was far, ARG would arrange for a multi-person transport

March 14, 2023 at 8:19 pm in reply to: 23-09 Apollo nee Paulo, 6-mo-old M/Intact, Covington, GA to Karen Terry Warner Robins #303733/14/2023: Talked with Ron. He took the dog in from his sister who bought the pup and realized it was too much for her studio apartment and work schedule. She had contacted the breeder and got no response. Ron has 4 children and the children all help with the care of the dogs but Paulo is more than they ever bargained for. He is just too much dog for their family after losing another one of their dogs. Therefore they want to rehome him.
I advised one of us would be in touch with him soon.
March 3, 2023 at 2:58 pm in reply to: 23-05 Boone, Male-Neutered, 6-7 yrs, w/Cindy Green-training #303093/3/23. Craig & Chris can take him but are traveling on the 16th. I’ll send you their response and mine to them.
From C & C:
We can. What info do we have? Neutered, house broken, social? If it doesn’t work out here we can keep him at our kennel. We are leaving town on the 16th.
JC: From me to them:
You two are amazing. Here’s what I know from the woman who is holding him:
Debbie has given him bordatella, distemper, parvo. Intact, calm, he met her neutered males and no probs btw any of them. Got him bathed and he’s in someone’s garage. Given up by the breeder to a 90yo woman who just wanted him away from the breeder. He had a female who looks as bad as him.
He’ll need to get a complete medical check, tested for heartworms, neutered, microchipped.I will see when Debbie in Killen can move him. What is your schedule like to get him?
Can you make the arrangements with your vet and, of course, ARG will pay for it.
I’m leaving in just a few min to take some friends to the airport but should be back home around 9. My email is down. Comcast!!
