I apologize. I didn’t know Kelly had scheduled your home visit. I am a volunteer with Airedale Reacue and was just trying to get some of the home visits scheduled.
We do have a 4 yr old male Airedale we are looking to get into his home. He is cat friendly which is rare, but he is a resource guarder of his food. We are seeking a home without children for him. If your work as a priest has you around children and you want your dog to join you, then he would not be a good fit.
So, we can move forward and do the home visit before 3/26 or you can wait until then. Please let Luann and me know.

2/24/23: Karen got word her mom died so they put an Airedale adoption on hold.
They will contact us when ready.

Hi,
We adopted “Beau” through this group 3 years ago. We now call him Gus. He was a companion for our elderly uncle we take care of. About 6 months ago Don (our uncle) had a health setback and we ended up taking Gus in with us full time. He has been food aggressive but we’ve been careful. This past weekend he bit my 4 year old. There wasn’t food around but happened in the kitchen so maybe he thought there was. At this point we feel we need to try and find him another home where there are not children. Do you all know of anyone that would be interested? Please let me know. I’m beyond sad that we need to find Gus a home, but think it’s the best thing.

Geno is doing great. For as skittish as he is I am Surprised that the Thunder,or fireworks doesn’t faze him. He walks great on leash and rides beautifully in the car which were important for him and us so he can go with us as much as possible. He seems to favor his back left leg a little so we made an appointment for next week for a full physical. He is such a darling, once he gets totally comfortable with us and his new surroundings I think he’ll be a very happy pleasant Airedale. I can tell by his personality that he has not been mistreated but He has been neglected. We’ll make sure he gets all the care he needs.On 10/30 “
Hi Pat, I have a question for you. Geno has favored his back left leg since day one. At his initial vet check, she said it seemed fine just a little stiff. Today he limping pretty good on it for no reason. My question is: Would it be worth it to reach out to JoAnn the previous owner and ask if he has ever had an injury so we can maybe get a little back history? We will be taking him back to the vet in a few weeks for a more in depth look at it. However it would be nice if we could get a little history to help. Maybe you think it better not to reach out to her. could you reach out and ask or send me her contact info. He is doing very well. He has his evaluation for training Nov 8th. Poor baby has had zero training. He is super sweet but afraid of everything. Thanks for your time Bonnie”I did check his surrender and there is nothing about an injury. Jackie-I will go back to the communications. Bonita mostly sent me FB messages until I told her she had to email. They just adopted him in July 2023. Either way, I think a 50% offer is generous. Let me research.

I’m sorry that I don’t remember this dog’s situation and don’t see anything about his ACL; I certainly could have missed it looking at his and the Riggs’ posts. Was he exhibiting lameness when they adopted him? If not, how soon after they got him did they discover this issue? If he was not lame when they got him, I would think 50% would be generous. If he was and they knew he would need special care, maybe 75%. I don’t know what conversations have occurred with them.Jackie Cash | 901-438-5782

He has 12 weeks of rehab now, very restricted for the next 2 weeks and then slow progression in length and amount of walks.

Home Evaluation for David Coven
Long story short – David is an excellent candidate for an Airedale. He has a LOT of experience with dogs, loves his dogs deeply and cares for them like family. I would leave my dogs with him in a heartbeat.
He lives in a semi rural area and has a good setup for dogs both in and out of the house. The backyard is fenced but in conversation with him, I realized he isn’t someone who would leave a dog out in a fenced yard by itself. He will be very involved with any animal he owns. David’s home is beautiful and there is evidence of his love for his dogs everywhere you look. He is a retired art director and while he has only been in Asheville since 2022, he has totally renovated his home and filled it with artwork (his and others).
He has relationships with his neighbors and their pets. We talked about how amazed we were that people would just let their dogs out without any worry about where they were and he told me about a neighborhood dog who has a neglectful owner. Lulu (the dog) visits him daily, comes in and he feeds her when she isn’t being fed at home. He has tried to get the owner to surrender her but she won’t. That said, the owner doesn’t mind that the dog comes to visit David and that David is helping provide care to her dog.
David is calm, quiet spoken, funny and clearly intelligent. He has had many dogs in his life and realizes he needs another dog. I was so comfortable with him that I invited him over to meet Bob and our dogs and imagine we will see more of him (we have lots in common).
I’m happy to answer any questions you have that I might have missed on the evaluation form – but my recommendation is that he is moved to the top of the list for a dog that needs a great home.
I told him I would ask what the next steps are and get back to him. I hope you have a dale looking to land in paradise cause this could be it!

Susan is a long time Airedale owner, ARG friend, ARG adopter, ARG volunteer – and she lives in the Asheville area and will be the volunteer who you meet for the home visit.Susan and David, please determine a time between the two of you which is good for a home visit. Understanding that your area has had recent snow, ice and cold – please do this when it makes sense for safety. I imagine you all are hunkered down and not going anywhere right now.
