Thank you for helping to transport Duke from Memphis to his new family in Highlands, NC Please know we APPRECIATE all of you for helping with Duke– we could not do this without you so THANK YOU. This is a long transport -the entire state of TN. Plus, there is a time zone conversion so it makes the day very long.

Duke is such a good boy I’m excited for all of you to meet him and get him to his new family. Duke came from a situation of living outside, eating cat food when he was fed and overall, not a great upbringing for his first two years. We’re so thankful that his owner decided that ARG would provide a better life for him. However, not everyone in his family was on board with his owners decision so we are calling him Tank if there’s any reference to him on social media. Otherwise – his name is Duke! Transport is a fun way to help ARG and meet other Airedale people so despite all of today’s challenges, I hope everyone has a great experience with Duke.

Please confirm you have received this. THANKS.

      Safety:
Please ensure that you are aware of Duke when opening car doors, transferring him from person to person, always making sure a hand is on the leash. Unless necessary, remain in car with A/C until transport transfer occurs; when opening car doors, ensure that the leash is secured by hand on the leash; when allowing potty breaks – ensure that collar/leash(s) are tight for no escape; be aware of surroundings – even a plastic bag in the wind may spook a dog in unfamiliar settings. Do not let him off leash at any time 😊
Heat Safety – Its going to be hot on Monday – it’s summer. Do not feel the need to walk Duke outside if you arrive early. Sitting in the car in the A/C will be fine for him.
PLEASE USE YOUR CHILD LOCKS so that Duke cannot accidentally open a window or door! (It has happened!)

Yes. I’m in Charleston… a little over a year now. I’m dealing with my own dog issues right now,. My wire hair was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma of the spleen with mets to the liver 3 weeks ago… he is almost 11… a rescue… we are devastated. Right now he is doing very well, but we think we may only have another month or so with him. If you ever have anything down this way, I’ll help if I can. Thanks.

I cannot tell you just how FABULOUS Duke is!!!!!!
He was a rescue, and told he was not a good dog.
In less than a year, he should be a therapy dog.
He is one of the best trained dogs I have met.
                  Very soft and gentle mouth.
( but not when they got him)
We were outside and he ran to me when I called him.
Just a very fine young man.
                  They are wonderful dog parents.
Duke goes 3 days a week to the best dog play day care her in Savannah.
With a new dog they will still do at least one day to keep up the socializing with other dogs.
They also have a dog walker, who is more like family now.
Duke has 2 bowls for water, he doesn’t like dirty water.
They have one dog water bowl that has a bottle attached to it so there is always water.
He gets dry food and a second bowl with his salmon.
                  These are very caring people.
                  Very clean home.
Fence is 4 1/2 ft high and totally secure.
They have off street parking outside the fence, so the gate is not open.
They do not live on a busy street.
The Vet is 5 blocks away.
Dukes only Vice is he barks at the ups truck if he sees it.
And a the male mailman, but loves the lady mailman.
Walks like a gem on a leash.
There is a little dog two doors over and the dogs are friends.
They are very loving towards Duke and just ask him to do something and he minds.
Tho he would not sing for me when he was asked .
Saw a van in the drive, so plenty of room for two dogs.
Their dog walker picks Duke up from play day if they are still at work.
                  Very conscientious dog people.
They would be great to foster or adopt.
I could tell by the chairs on their back deck, they have company over, so the Duke or ant dog , would be well socialize.
Guess you can tell I was impressed with them.

I don’t think this is important, but looked at your check list , I’ll add this.
House is not huge, wood floors and large sofa shared by all.
Not a fussy home , but clean.
Dogs would have full run of the home.
                  A older neighborhood.
                  Probably starting a revitalization now.
                  In the memorial hospital area.
4 blocks to a busy road.
Their road is not a street you would go on unless you lived their.
And Duke did have his summer haircut.
Much to Ryan’s dismay, it was a bit short.
                  But he looked so cute.
I really think this dog smiles!!!!

                            Hello Shannon and Leslie
Thank you both for helping with the transport of Klancy. Its nice that its the two of you meeting and will be a good transition for Klancy to not have a lot of hand offs on her trip to her new family. My typical transport notes contain a lot about safety, hand offs, keeping the hand on leash at all times. This is still true and necessary but with less transition to cars, parking lot exchange, I feel much better! I typically choose hotels for transport exchanges as they are less busy parking lots; easy on/off interstate and if someone needs to run inside for a quick potty – they’re not too crowded.
