Hello Fred – Nice to talk to you this morning. Here is the info that we know about Buck. Can you go to the Maryville shelter today to meet him and hopefully bring him home for a ‘foster’ situation. In fostering, ARG pays for any medical that is needed during the foster duration. Fostering is likely around 2 weeks but could be longer. For instance, we may try to get him neutered during fostering so it could take longer. He is a great age – age 4 so he is past the puppy age and people like that. On the other hand, you all have all first rights to him so if you decided its time for an Airedale again, then you could adopt him!

            Contact at shelter: Amy
233 Currie Ave, Maryville, TN 37804
            Hours – 11-4

            NAME: BUCK
            DOB 8/22/2019
            Intact
Owner surrender to Blount County Animal Center
            NO AKC papers
Unknown on training, leash walking, car riding, grooming or eating
HATES CATS – killed one, so likely he has a high prey drive

            VACCINES
            Rabies 7/15/2023
            Bordetella 8/16/2023
            DA2PP 8/16/2023
            Fecal 8/16/2023 negative
            HW test 8/16/2023 negative

            Flea prevention given 8/16/2023
            HW med given 8/16/2023
            Dewormed 8/16/2023

            NO MICROCHIP

As mentioned, he was a surrender to the shelter in Maryville by an older man. They were told he was raised by an older man to be a guard dog. He prefers men to women. They said he is leash, house and crate trained and approx 4 years old. He isn’t neutered.

I know you want to meet him first – would you be willing to go ahead and meet him, bring him home then if its not right for you all, ARG would put him into a kennel/boarding situation and you would just need to take him there. We need to get him out of the shelter as they are full. (Sad!)

om David Fleshman telling me they have had a change in their home situation and are terminating their adoption application.

He thanked us for the time we put in. I’m guessing there are some health issues.

                    Hi Pat and all,

Geno had his first Vet appt today and passed with flying colors. He does have some limited range of motion in one leg, but vet and us suspect it is due to lack of exercise. We are just awaiting results on feces testing.

                    He is now chipped, number is 985 141 001 539 086.

He is starting to show more and more of his personality, and he is a sweet gentle soul. Stubborn and working hard to train us rather than us him. He loves TV, any show.

Let me know if you have questions.

                    Thank you

John and Bonnie Riggs, and Geno

                    Hi Pat,

According to Geno’s last vet report he is neutered. I have attached the record given to us.

The owner also supplied us with new Heartworm, and Flea and Tick treatments, which we have started.

Can you please update the contract to show he is neutered and we have his treatments?

We will setup a new vet appointment towards the end of July after he has settled in a little better. We will have him chipped and work with the vet to get a SC rabies tag to be complient with local laws. We will also do whatever treatments the vet suggests.

When you have updated the contract, please send it back to me. I will write you a check to avoid the card fees and get it in the mail. Also, we appreciate the offer of the rescue to reimburse any costs to get Geno up to date, but we will take care of those costs ourselves. He is now our child and responsibility, and challenge!! (LOL)

                    Thank you

                        Hi Pat,

I just realized that we never actually signed and returned the adoption form for Piper. We just considered her ours from the first moment we met her. Anyways, I’ve attached it here. If it is still ok, we will pay the adoption fee in September when I get paid again.

Piper is still doing fantastic. She is such a joy and hilarious! I can’t wait to get her back together with her friends at the next Airedale club meeting.

Just curious, did you ever reach out to the breeder? I thought I might just to find out a bit about her litter. Also, do you think Delilah’s new family would be interested in staying in contact with us? If not, I will stop asking. I just think it would be fun for the girls to see each other. 😊

                        Thanks again for everything!
