Spoke about Saturday 12/16/23 transport for Kenai. Aisha would prefer to drive the 85 route towards the GA/SC border over going along I20. Prefers text instead of email for communication.

Subject: Airedale Rescue AdoptionDear Nancy and Scot,
I regret to inform you that at this time the team at Airedale Rescue Group has made the decision to decline approval for your adoption of an Airedale due to the lack of previous methods for prevention of both heartworm and fleas/ticks, for both BooBear and Shaq. The safety of our dogs at time of adoption and throughout their lives is always our top priority and the lifelong prevention of heartworm and other infestations from fleas and ticks is crucial for the health and safety of all dogs. Heartworm prevention in particular is a key consideration when approving a potential adopter as heartworm disease can not only kill a dog but causes lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, affecting the dog’s health and quality of life long after the parasites are gone. While the worms and diseases that fleas and ticks carry may not have the same devastating effects as heartworms in general, they still can be harmful to a dog’s health and in some cases may be fatal.
I appreciate your willingness to follow up with your vet and have both Boo Bear and Shaq provided with preventative treatments, and I hope you will follow through with those appointments, as well as continue to provide these preventatives in the future. I realize this is disappointing for you but because these preventative measures have been neglected in the recent past, and we cannot know for certain that these treatments will be continued and updated annually, we must err on the side of caution for our dogs. If in future years you have an interest in adoption, and can provide records for your dogs showing that all vaccinations and preventative measures have continually been provided, we would gladly re-open discussions.
I’ve included a couple of links below to help you learn more about the dangers of both heartworms and flea/tick infestations. Please also consider speaking with your vet, who should be stressing the importance of these preventative measures.
