Winnie was in heat on Mar 22013 when I picked her up. Kept her at Prange house and she was spayed on 4/11/2013 by Dr Lapham. Cost $325 with ARG disc.

                      Winnie Transport 4/13

Updated 4/12 afternoon with cell #s

Winnie is feeling better today. She feels well enough to get up and follow me every where in the house. I have not tried her in a car so keep that in mind tomorrow what i mentioned below……treat her gingerly and don’t underestimate her will!

Hello Wendy, Georgia, Adam & Lisa

Thank you all so much for helping with Winnie on Saturday. I appreciate it so much. Winnie was spayed on Thursday so as of this AM, she is very tender and walking around gingerly. It is not the same Winnie that has been living with me since March 2, I can guarantee that! I know that she is fine but certainly needs TLC tomorrow in the transport. Specifically she is not supposed to jump out of the car. We are supposed to help her. She needs to be lifted out of the car. At home, she is supposed to be leash walked for 2 weeks and if she goes up and down stairs – hold her by the collar so she does not exert herself too much. Yesterday when I brought her home from the vet, she did not want me to lift her out of the car. Just kept diverting away from me in the car area. So, keep your hand on her leash because she may try to divert you and jump out on her own. Ideally she will allow you to lift her out. Also hoping by tomorrow that she is feeling better.

She’ll start out from Raleigh about 7:15 so she will have a long day ahead of her. She will have on a tight collar (martingale) and will have a leash. Please keep your hand on her leash at all times. It is especially important when you are opening the car door so she does not slip out. If you have two volunteers, then I suggest one holding on to her leash while the other opens the door. She is ready to jump out (pre surgery Winnie) – I have to be very careful when I open my hatch if you all end up putting her in the back. Also, be aware of sounds and movement that may startle her – even a trash bag in the wind could be alarming for her since she’ll be with folks she does not know and unknown area. Also, its not necessary to walk her around if you arrive early to the location. I’d rather you stay in the car with her.

Enjoy your day with her. Most of all, drive safely, be careful and I’ll be thinking of each of you as you make your way across the state of NC, SC & GA!

                                  Hi Christina,

Thank you for your reply. I will be sending pictures of Teddy next week. I would like to mention one thing about Teddy. Although he is a good eater, he had problems from dog food in the past (not just one brand, but many). He developed a severe allergic skin reaction. So I switched him to home cooked food made from rice, chicken and potatoes and carrots. He is a picture of health now. I know this will be a big problem as not so many families would commit themselves to cooking for him even twice a week, although “people food” is really much cheaper because it keeps vet bills at $0.00 and Walmart chicken is not that expensive. Besides, Teddy’s almost 8 y.o., he is slowing down and his energy requirements are not as high as in young, growing dogs. His monthly food bill is very reasonable. Please let me know about the kind of perspectives Teddy might expect with this new information about him.

                                  Thank you.

                                  Larysa
