Subject: RE: Airedale Rescue Group – welcome, delayed

        Hi Christina,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. We had some issues with our email since we changed our services provided by AT&T and got the girls new phones a couple weeks ago (everything got all screwed up). So at this point everything seems to be okay again and I think I’m back on line.

Anyway, as to the questions you had, I contacted Banfield and they know you’ll be calling to confirm Gypsy and Bella’s medical and or vaccination history and I arranged to have that information released to you. Their number is 803-462-1076. Bella is listed under Alicia’s (Clawson) name because she was taking her there before Gypsy and I entered the picture. And I’m pretty sure Gypsy’s records are under both our names but definitely mine for sure.

As for Bella, she is a maltipoo at a whopping Five-ish pounds. Gypsy does respect her size, although she “mother hens” her a little bit from time to time. More so when they first established their relationship a couple years ago, not so much anymore.

Regarding calling me, I’m free most evenings for sure after 7pm as well, so feel free to call at your convenience. Also feel free to contact Dorothy Duff from SWAT (Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue). I listed her as a reference on my application.

If you need anything else, just let me know and I’ll get right back to you without the long delay this time. If not, I look forward to talking to you very soon.

        Thanks,

        Greg Redd

Anita declined Kaycee 8/2012. Kaycee was Pat’s foster – young, 11 mos, chewer, needed to be crated. Anita – still looking for the perfect cat friendly airedale who can obey invisible fence.

I will add to the worry list – regarding his outside behavior..he has not once either sat down or laid down while he was outside at our house whether we were outside w/ him or not. When we are out w/ him he will stay by us or play ball, but when we are not outside he paces around and jumps on the doors, windows, etc. He about fell down the stairs on the deck when he saw or heard a plane fly over the other day. I’m not sure how to fix that, but I would be concerned about leaving him out or any length of time (like we sometimes leave the girls outside all day if we are making a long day trip). Afraid he would either damage the house, possibly hurt himself in the process, or have issues related to anxiety/exhaustion.

Well, I would like to keep him, but if there is somebody who is willing to hang out w/ him all day long then I think Ziggy would ultimately be happier with that set up. We have been a little unbalanced since he arrived. He does do well in the crate during the day and goes into w/out any issues; but he’d be much happier around people. We took him on a walk today – he does okay on a leash and wanted to go into the dog park but I wasn’t ready for that yet. He nips on Lola and Pearl’s ears/muzzle some and they put him in his place with snarls and growls but I’m not sure how other dogs might respond to that. He did pee all over the park, which reminded me of why I like girl dogs J

              Ziggy good stuff:

Sweet – likes his people and enjoys attention from his people.

Smart – knows a few commands (sit, shake, lay) and loves to play ball. He knows his name too.

Gets along pretty good w/ other dogs and cats

              Crate trained

              House trained

              Sleeps well

              Decent on a leash

              Loves to play!!

              Ziggy worry list:

Doesn’t like to be outside w/out his people – will jump and scratch on doors and windows trying to get back in. Doesn’t like to be outside w/ the dogs but is fine if we are out w/ him.

Can get mouthy when playing..not aggressive at all, but just his way of playing when he gets excited..this is both with people and other dogs

He’s still going through his chewing phase – and he tends to destroy versus just chew…he has a hard time telling the difference between dog toys and kid toys

I’ve caught him chewing on the wood decking outside and he’s put teeth on the living room table a few times (he stops when he’s caught)

He’s also interested in socks, underpants, and just about anything really J

Let me know as things progress and I might be able to help with the transport. I’m good for at least 2hrs 1way, maybe longer depending on which direction we are going and when.

Keep your eyes out for another youngerish female for us…Pearl was a real pearl ~ would love another one like her 🙂

Alonzo called me on Sunday, August 26 and he said he never heard from me and he found a puppy which he is purchasing from a breeder in GA. Male, named Manly. He had to put Percy to sleep. He said if manly brings him half the joy that his Percy did he will be a happy man. He will keep my name and contact. He said he has to train his new puppy before he can think of anything else/other airedales.

                  Hello Alonzo and Joslynn,

I wanted to check in with you and your desire to adopt an airedale at this time. Barbara and I are both back from our vacations and we’re reaching out to everyone and checking in. We spoke with your veterinarian office and of course, you all received rave reviews. The next step in the process is to have an interview over the phone. I’d like to talk with you if you’re ready to proceed with the process. I can usually talk after work – I am home after 7pm. Is that a good time for you to talk? Please let me know and I look forward to talking to you all.

8/26 I sent a note to Jill and told her that after reviewing Ziggy’s records, he would need Neuter & Microchip. All other shots were UTD. Also told her about Braxton and asked her if she was intereted in adopting Ziggy, if not then I thought that Braxton was a good match.

Hi Sandi – I am so so sorry about your dog Tika. I hate that for you. So Birch is still doing great! I’m so happy. He is such a good looking boy. I have been out of town and Barbara Lawson too (plus her computer problems), so we’re behind! But it sounds like the dynamics are the same at your house except – moved a few doors away and the kids are older – and of course the loss of your Tika. I think its great that you all are dog walkers. That’s the best for the dog and owner relationship and of course the fenced in yard is great for exercise and sniffing all the smells.

                      Hi, Christina!

Yes, our address is different from when we adopted “Birch”. We now live at 15 Pine Ridge Trail. It is just a few houses up the street. It does have a fenced backyard with plenty of room for the dogs. We unfortunately do not have our precious Tika anymore. She got very sick and we had to have her put down. It was incredibly emotional and difficult. We still walk Cooper (Birch) daily….sometimes multiple times…on a leash. He is the most amazing dog we’ve ever had! We are very blessed!

                      Thank you for your email.

                      Sincerely~

                      Subject: airedales!

Hi Sandi, Barbara Lawson said that you applied for another Airedale last week. She received the application on Friday and by Saturday she had to take her computer to the repair shop. She did not get to transfer the application to our database before the computer loss. So – I am reaching out to you to let you know that we received your application and we know that you’re interested. SHe is going on a family vacation starting tomorrow and she’ll be back in a week and hopefully we’ll get back to speed including transferring your application to the database. She thought that your address was different. Are there any other circumstances that are different? Is your yard fenced? I don’t think that your other house had a fence so I assume that you all are still leash walking? Do you still have your other dog, a rat terrier? And lastly, the most important question – how is Birch!

She is also patient and good with children as her foster mom is a grandmother and there is a 2 y/o child running around the house.

The humane society called ARG and Pat Painter went over and picked her up and took her to her own vet. The owner said that her leg had been broken when she pulled Kaycee out of the crate. We don’t really know if that is accurate. Pat’s vet evaluated her and looked at an x ray and it was decided that the best thing to do was perform FHO surgery on her leg. It was an old break that had healed and she was not using the leg. Her surgery was 8/17 and she is able to walk now on her leg. Pat leash walks her everywhere so that they can go slow and Kaycee can concentrate on walking and using all of her legs. When she gets distracted or tired, she lifts her repaired leg. Pat is crating her when she is not home – after all Kaycee is a PUPPY! She is very very sweet – Pat adores her but Pat has a Sr ‘dale, works full time, etc. Pat is taking her mother to Atlanta weekly for chemo and she really does not have time to have another dog.
