10/03/18: JMC spoke to vet’s office – Dawn: She walks by other dogs and she doesn’t act aggressive. She’s great with staff, full of energy and wanting to play. She’s eating well. Skin looks better but she’s still on antibiotics.

They applied in 2013 and were interviewed by me, then BL was involved, then you were involved in setting home visit by JoAnne Case. She did home visit and they were approved. Last communication was Aug. 2014 you offered them Ruby via email but I guess they didn’t respond.

I’ll contact them and let them know they are approved and see if they’re interested in our girl in So. AL.

Will you contact Mark Howitz or do you want me to?

        Hi William and Trudy,

Thank you for submitting an adoption for a SOAR rescue Airedale. Was there a specific dog you were interested in? Also, have you contacted your local Georgia Airedale rescue organization? They can assist you in the approval process and make you aware of any dogs they may have available. I have copied their state coordinator on this email. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Again, thank you for your application and good luck with your search.

10/02/18: ARG rec’d email from Mary Taylor Huntsman that Christy Keech has decided she would rather work with ATRA than ARG.

10/02/18: Erin Johnson emailed and said they must surrender Livi. They have moved into an RV so they can travel all over. They are stationary right now and they will put Livi out on a tie-out but she hates that and they even have an e fence but she doesn’t respect it and just runs and they spend hours trying to find her. They’re afraid she is going to get HBC or hurt some other way and they can’t keep her safe. Even when they were living in their house, she would bolt out the front door and they would have to chase her down and spend hours looking for her.

She’s an anxious dog – has been since they got her – and they now have her on Trazadone 50 mg 1x/day and that helps. She lunges and barks at people who approach them or their property and would try to bite them. She is good with the children, ages 5 and 7, but too rambunctious for others.

She’ll be 6 in Feb. She’s in good health. They’ll send Release Form and photos and med records.

10/02/18: Erin Johnson emailed saying she needs to surrender Livi.
Just spoke to Erin. My notes:
Teary, their living arrangements have changed; no more fence. Moved into an RV to travel the country. Stationary right now. She’s on the lead and a tie-out and an e-fence that she does not respect. She’s slipped out a couple of times the last 2 weeks and they have chased her for hours. They fear for her safety. Live out in Newport closer to the beach. When they have their house, she would sipped out the front door, she would run. No regard for any type of enticement.

Livi is 5, 6 in Feb. Health good. Very anxious, takes 50 mg of trazadone daily and has for a long time. She does fine with their children but she’s aggressive to other people. She will lunge at people barking. She has done that since they’ve had her. Very protective. Does not like blond women. Prefers men. Killed a cat. Anxious all the time – her entire demeanor, pinned back ears, panting. en garde most of the time. they have tried a lot of meds for her. She goes into crate – if you make her. She doesn’t choose to go in there. Okay alone.

Other dogs, depends on dog. She’ll be aggressive at first and they figure out their pecking order. No little dogs.

I’ve asked her to fill out the Release and send photos and have their vet send records.

                Sheesh!

10/01/18: Spoke to Taylor Hawke. Jennifer is her sister, and Georgia Davis is a roommate. Her sister Jennifer is probably going to be living with her for at least 1 to 1-1/2 years; Georgia is getting married in February and moving right behind her. But Taylor owns the house so she’s not going anywhere.

Georgia has an Australian Shepherd, very well trained, great dog, but they spend a lot of time at her fiancé’s house.

Taylor has not had a dog as an adult. Growing up they had a Jack Russell Terrier and later chihuahuas. But she met an Airedale when she was in CA for work and liked the dog so much that she started doing research and loved what she read. She loves that they’re very smart and athletic and they don’t really shed like other dogs. I talked to her about their prey drive and how they can’t be trusted off-leash in an unfenced area. She said she had read that they have a high prey drive and appreciated understanding more about it.

She leaves for work between 8 and 8:30 and gets home around 6:00. But her sister is a teacher and she gets home around 3:00. Taylor can also come home for lunch if she needs to so that she can walk her dog. On the weekend, they are pretty active. They’ll go to dog parks or visit friends and their friends have dogs: French bulldog, mixed-breed rescues, and her roommate’s dog, an Australian Shepherd.

My only concern is that she has not had a dog as an adult. But, she’s 29 years old, owns her own home. Sounds responsible.

I’ll find a home visit volunteer. She lives in the Buckhead area.

09/26/18: Baby Boy is with Alexandra as of 09/20/18. He will be adopted by Kristina Tuzova. Alexandra doesn’t think this will be a good home for him because Kristina is a single mom with 2 boys and lives in a condo. Alexandra thinks he should have a big yard to play in and thinks that he will be too much for Kristina’s 10-year-old Airedale Ralph who she adopted from us in March 2018.

Kristina has pledged to take time off from work so she can work with Baby Boy to acclimate him to her home and to Ralph.

(As an aside, Alexandra Day doesn’t think this will be a good home for Baby Boy because he’ll drive the 10-y-o Airedale crazy, because Kristina is a single mom with little time (Kristina has never said that), and that there is no yard. Alexandra has been critical in us getting this Airedale; her friend Ariane let ARG use her rescue registration to pull this pup. I hope that Alexandra doesn’t try to create a problem. Just a heads up.)
