Has two weeks of quiet time with Christina and then is ready for placement. very good dog but some separation anxiety. Probably good with someone who is at home all day or someone who is willing to work with a trainer. Good in crate but prefers to see people. Good with other dogs. Good on split leash when walking with Tom Tuna.
Called and left message.
Called and left message for her to call me. Will call back pm if I do not get a return call.
Did vet check to Maury Co. Vet Hospital -They did not know her nor have her in their system.
Grover is ready to go at the vets. His wound is healed and he is up to date. Please let me know what foster or permanent home we have in mind. I would suggest he not go
to one with small children. Older kids, taller teenagers are fine.

July 25, 2011 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Private: Todd was Albus from Charlotte Humane Society from Mecklenbergy County Shelter #12227Guess who climbed out of his pen today 🙁 It was during a thunderstorm so we may have some thunder phobia going on but he didn’t seem overly upset once he was out. Luckily my husband is out of town until Thursday and the basement is secure so he can continue to stay here until Friday morning and then Gale and I had already discussed him going to her place because I have out of town company staying with us for the weekend. I think the plan was for him to go to Christina’s about that time – correct?

July 24, 2011 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Private: Todd was Albus from Charlotte Humane Society from Mecklenbergy County Shelter #12226Gale said to leave him on the doxycycline so that’s what I’m doing.
He is still really sweet and somewhat of a clinger – wants to be a shadow. He is also a singer and it’s hard to not go downstairs and bring him up when he sings the blues
He seems to be fine with men – likes Roy as well as me.
Gale said the cough is probably part of the heartworm side issues.
July 23, 2011 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Private: Todd was Albus from Charlotte Humane Society from Mecklenbergy County Shelter #12225He seems to be a sweet boy. Does go after cats, though. I would suggest a no cat home or someone that is willing to work with him on it. He wnet nose to nose with hte horses at the fence and was very calm about it – no barking, just a wagging tail.

Karen,
It was very nice talking with you yesterday. We appreciate you filling out an application with ARG. After speaking with Betsy, we feel that based on the answers from your application and interview, that we will be unable to approve you at this time.
At ARG, we consider our ‘dales family members. We place ‘dales in the home to be kept inside just as we are. Most rescue dogs have been in undesirable situations before coming to us and our job is to place them in homes that will make them a beloved part of their family. Our dogs can not be placed too be left alone in the yard for any extended amount of time. Airedales, as you know are very mischievous creatures and left to long alone gives them room to escape and possibly not found. Also, all family members must be in agreement of wanting a pet for the same reasons.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your application further, Betsy or I will be glad to give you a call. We wish you good luck in finding that right pet for your family.
Sincerely,
Paige Still
ARG Volunteer
spoke with Karen on 7-21-11. She was very nice but there are numerous red flags. She stated that she wasn’t getting the dog for herself. It is her son that is 18 that wants a dog. She stated she wanted the dog for protection. When asked where she would be leaving dog, she replied that she had a great place under her deck. She replied that she didn’t have a problem with letting the dog sleep in the house but it could not sleep on her couch or bed. She also stated that she didn’t care for crates so the dog would not be left in a crate and that a pad would be OK for it to sleep on. Karen also told me she didn’t have a fenced in yard but they could throw up some posts and 2 x4’s and 4×4’s real quick. She was sure to say that she wanted a female and the younger the better. She also stated that she raised Airedales 20 years ago with registered litters 20 years ago. She wanted to know what was the deal is with ARG about spaying. She then questioned the cost and return policy of ARG. She asked if after a week if she could return the dog and get a refund. Also asked about driving policy-if she would have to drive all the way to South Carolina to get a dog.
This applicant will be unapproved due to the reasos above. I will send her an e-mail explaining the reasons why.
