Conversation with Faith this afternoon.
I asked why an airedale? She said she prefers large dogs, and having met one at a local dog park, she decided to look into rescue. I think she may be breed shopping a bit, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
The young people mentioned on app are nieces and nephews. The adult human is the boyfriend, does not live there.
Her whole family and personal history is with huskies, she wants to try a different breed with similar intelligent characteristics.
She explained her job, and how she works nights, is home by 7:00 am or so, so has the day free before going to sleep for a few hours, and off to work.
She will be away for a week in June.
Vojin was mentioned as HV, I will ask him to contact her.
Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the email, but I just got an Airedale pup from a breeder in Alabama in April.
He was born on December 2nd and already weighs close to 60lbs. We love him.
Thanks, Jack

Hello Faith,

(BL wrote check to Jeff, to go out 5/21/14
I’ve taken a snapshot of the bill
I’ll scan and email the entire bill
As quoted on that urgent Sunday, $4500 was their estimate with no problems and the actual total was $4495.73
The amount owed to Jeff is $4495.73
His address is
Jeff Miner
13606 Mills Farm Rd
Rockville MD 20850
We put a credit of $4850 on Sunday but we got the refunded amount that was not used
Again I feel terrible about the money spent. It was a difficult call. The dog is fine though. He’s 33 lbs……but that’s a different problem! Hey if he was that small imagine how much we saved had he been a 100lber!
Oh and Colleen game me a check so you can just give her husband the money for her.

Hi! Glad to hear about Annie and her new family. If we can get Kelly infection free we will also find a class. The good thing about airedales and class is they always like to show off and try to be the best in class. They will probably try to outshine each other.
Sent you a couple pics of my handsome boy and his new #1 girlfriend. He is great even when she tries to push, but she really seems to enjoy his company and attention.
Let me know how class goes.

Hi, all is well here. My Rosie is signed up for a new class this fall called “Distraction Proofing”….boy does she need it! We’re taking it with a former Rescue boy that came in this summer and got adopted by a family near me. I wonder what the teacher is going to think when she has two Airedales in her class!
Wanted to tell you, since you came along when we had Annie, that she got adopted by the foster family. An approved family was interested in her and the foster family decided she was part of their family, which is a good thing.
I am so sorry Kelly has continued to be sick. I don’t know how much time you spend on the Internet, but there is a yahoo discussion group called ADTNutrition that I subscribe to about overall Airedale (could apply to any breed dog) health. Believe me, I don’t have the time to read everything and a lot of things the group does is beyond my time & energy commitment to my #1 girl….but it might have some advice on getting over Kelly’s infection? Just a thought…..
Good to hear from you – will you send picture of Kelly & Rory?

Christina…thanks for all the effort. She is on another course of antibiotics and hopefully this will do the trick. We’ll get her vaccine after this set is over. How are you?

Tish, I talked with Lacy & Arliss again and both tried to get the documentation from the previous owner and nothing came to them. They followed up, tried several times. I think Kelly has to start over and get her rabies shot as if she never had it. I hate that for a lot of reasons. Hopefully the timing is better that she is in stronger health. I’m really sorry about this….

I am also confused…As she is now 7 months and if I remember correctly they receive rabies at about three months it would be about 8 months until her next booster, at which time she could get a three year. Hate to vaccinate her early, especially with all the physical challenges she has had in her short life. She seems to have finally cleared her kennel cough, except for spells of spasmatic coughing which now only happen very infrequently now.
Isn’t it wonderful to have a doctor with a sense of humor! How are the dogs?
The shelter contacts were Lacy (Chairman) and Arliss ( Mgr) both at the same number at the shelter…615-446-7455. Maybe you can get more info from them.
Thank you and have a great Sunday.

Tish, good to hear from you. I am so glad Kelly is doing well, and that she and Rory have become fast friends.
I am puzzled as to why you are having difficulty getting her rabies certificate. It is a simple and routine request. Christina is traveling this week; she has email access, but probably not to all of her files. I only have the shelter number in my notes. Gosh, at this rate, Kelly may be due for another vacc before it is sorted out! I’m copying Christina on this; I know she’ll follow up when she can. -Barbara
P.S. Thank you for your condolences for Sally, and asking about my hand. The doctor is pleased with its healing, just cautions patience. He has a dry sense of humor which I like. Early on as he was giving us instructions on daily soaking and dressing changes, he said “Fill up a shot glass with peroxide to soak; if you want to fill it with bourbon first, and chug it down, that’s okay, too.”

Hello Barbara…more appropriately how are you? How is your hand and
I am so sorry to hear about Sally.
I am sorry not to have responded before this but things at work have been terribly hectic.
Kelly is doing much better and happy to say adjusting well to our home…excuse me it is definitely her home now. Rory loves to play with her and is very happy for the company.
Can you please help at all…the shelter called again and they seem to be unable to get her rabies shot record. Is there any way for us to get the name of the vet to try and obtain the paperwork?
I’m printing the contract now will get it ready.

Dear Tish,
I am sorry I have not been in touch. I think Christina told you I had sustained a fairly serious hand injury, which has been a bit difficult to deal with. Soon thereafter, I am sorry to say, last week our sweet Sally suddenly became very weak, and the end of that story is that she was gently put to sleep last Friday. The best and most merciful end for her; the most agonizing and painful decision for us.
I am attaching Kelly’s placement contract and adoption agreement. Please review, print, sign and send to our treasurer, along with the adoption fee, payable to Airedale Rescue Group, to:
Barbara Yager
10581 Harrisburg Rd
Fort Mill SC 29715
Our adoption fee is $300.00. However, since you needed to take her to your vet to get additional meds for her, you may deduct that expense if you wish. If so, please include a copy of that invoice with the paperwork you send in.
Thank you for giving one of our special ‘dales a loving home. I hope she and Rory are making friends, and romping happily.
The number is 704-553-0545 and her invoice # is 111578.
The bill says finance charges will start on the 16th…
I will send you the bill today!
Thank you!!!!!

Jim and I have given this a lot of thought over the last couple of days and it pains me to say that we have come to the conclusion the we are not the right parents for Lucy primarily because of her size.
From everything we’ve heard, she seems like a very sweet girl and we hope she finds her forever home soon.
We will continue to monitor the rescue site for other Airedales in need of a good home. Or If another Airedale comes into rescue who is a bit smaller than Lucy please keep us in mind.
Warmest regards,
Ann & Jim Calhoun

Hi, Michelle. I do think that Barbara had intended to contact you for your second interview. I apologize that we dropped the ball. However, we wish you the very best working with another group. If it’s North Carolina Airedale Rescue, you are in good hands and we hope you find just the right Airedale for your family.

Just got off the phone with her vet’s office and they were very positive about her and her care with her dogs. Both were always current with their vaccines and on heartworm and flea prevention. Her vet’s office number was different than what was on the application. The correct number is: 252-637-7128.
Have a good week-end!
