May or may not cause problems in life
Dr Lapham says not every dr can do the surgery. He likes to do that
surgery.
Recommended that she be kept at ideal wt, to never get heavy or it
could cause problems when it had never in the past
Betw 18 mos to 2 years
Urinalysis
Normal range of concentration but on the low side. He is asking me to
get a morning sample to re test. He is slightly concerned bc I am
still having training issues
Tick borne illness….elechria (sp)
Not to worry. Nothing to treat as we treated with doxy and she has no
symptoms. He did not test her for it bc she tested positive one month
ago and she will still test pos. For a year. He said it is like
testing me for a cold that I had two wks ago. The antibodies are in my
system. That is how her tick illness is

Good phone interview 11/4. Certainly terrier savvy. I liked her. She understands the rescue process, one of her Kerrys was from rescue. We talked about her no fence, and she understands the concern. I believed her when she said multiple walks a day, including a long one for everyone.
Not in a big hurry, open to either gender, mid age, open to older if not with serious medical issues.
Her m/f Kerry Blues are quite social with other do, the male a little more aloof than the female.. Apparently the neighborhood has quite a few dogs, and they all romp happily together when all are out.
She is away “at the beach” until Nov 14.
I have written Trina Wright to ask if she would home visit.
Hi Barbara!
Great to hear from you so quickly!
Oops! The birds and cat are long gone now. I meant the DOGS are going strong <G>. Sorry!
Yeah, the fence thing concerned the KBT rescue group at first, as well. But there is literally nothing I can do about it, since the HOA rules forbid fencing the front, and the back of our property abuts marshland so the county forbids us from fencing the back yard. However, the climate down here from April to Oct is so hot, humid, and bug-ridden (not to mention the occasional copperhead and rattler), so to be honest, I wouldn’t put the dogs out in the yard anyway, for their own comfort and safety. And they are happy to lounge out on the deck (safely gated) during the nice days winter, spring, and fall. I take them out 4 times a day for outdoor time, including one long walk as I mentioned. We live on a very safe cul de sac, with lots of other dogs, so they also get to go out and frolic with their pals off-leash occasionally when the neighbors are out on weekends. I know how cranky terriers can be if they don’t get their exercise, so I’ve always been diligent about walks–and have solved several neighbors problems with chewing and digging pets by recommending they do the same. A fenced-in yard is fine, but it is no substitute for exercise…something not everyone quite understands.
As a bonus, our walks force me to get some exercise too <G>…otherwise I’d be tempted to sit at the computer all day (I’m a writer). So I can assure you that your rescue would be in good hands even without the fenced-in yard. ๐
Anyway, yes, tomorrow would be great to talk. I am currently not at home–we are at the beach for a couple of weeks–so you should use my cell phone number: 843-696-0222. Probably sometime between 11am and 3pm (Eastern time) would be best for me, if that works for you.
Looking forward to chatting!

Hello Nina,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued airedale.
Needless to say, we welcome terrier savvy applicants. I have always admired the Kerry Blues, although I have only seen one or two in person/dogson.
The fact you do not have a fenced yard is a concern, but if in fact you are a dedicated leash walker, that is good.
Some rescue groups flatly deny adopting to no-fence families; we are a little more open-minded ๐
A clarification: you mention a cat and birds still going strong. Do they live elsewhere now?
In any event, would you be available to speak tomorrow afternoon?
Just let me know a good time to call. Over the weekend would work also; we generally are in and out.
I look forward to working with you.

Wrote Deb and told her she is approved w/o home visit based on Muriel’s endorsement.
Hi Barbara!
How wonderful to hear that you are low on Airedales!!! Yes, absolutely, this is fine with me; Deb has a great home to open up to any dog.

Hi Muriel.
Deb sent us an application. She told me she adopted her Sissy through you, and had been in touch with you again since the death of her
Ginger. Actually, I think Ginger was an ARG dog, wasn’t she? You told her there were a couple of airedales in NOLA, but they wouldn’t be ready for two months.
As it happens, ARG is a bit low on dales at the moment also. We have two females, one in Knoxville, the other in Raleigh. They both will likely be placed with two returning adopters, although that is not final yet.
She asked about Jack, who is 8, and was just placed. So it is great she is open to a middle-aged or older one.
She asked if it was a problem for her to be on both of our “ready” lists. I said not at all.
So, with your endorsement, I can move her to our approved list. I would have asked you to do a home visit for us, anyway, until she told me she already knows you ๐
Hope all is well at Hooligan House.

Hi Muriel,
We rec’d an adoption application from Deb. She told me she had adopted her Sissy through you, and you were aware that she was looking for a companion for her, but don’t have a candidate available at this time for her. Neither do we, just low on “inventory” at the moment. Both good and bad, as you well know. Great dogs placed, great appiicants waiting.
Deb sounds like a great lady, with lots of love and experience to give to the right new airedale.
I had some thoughts about grieving for the loss of a beloved companion, which I am going to share with her, as she clearly is still in a lot of pain.
People and dogs grieve in different ways, as we well know.
Anyway, I hope our collective contacts, yours and ours, will result in a great match for her when the time is right.

Thank you, Deb, for your quick response.
We have worked with Muriel in the past; and she is a fine person and dedicated airedale rescuer, always willing to help whenever she can.
As it happens, we at ARG do not have a lot of available ‘dales at the moment either. But are happy to have you on our approved list, based on Muriel’s expected endorsement.
I’ll let Muriel know you have reached out to us as well as her.

My home is 251 279-9259. Muriel Donaldson was my contact on placement of Sissy. She has told me that there are a couple of dogs in New Orleans But they will not be available for two months. My remaining Airedale is very depressed and I would love to do something sooner. Deb

Hi Deb,
Thank you for looking into adopting another rescued airedale! We are always especially thrilled to hear from ‘dale experienced families.
And also happy to hear you are open to one a little older than the usual hopes and expectations of folks. In fact Jack, who you mentioned, ended up at my house just this last weekend. Permanently.
We have at the moment two younger lasses, and I don’t think they are even on our website yet. Not a lot in our care at the moment, but that changes at any time.
Anyway, I would love to get you started in our approval process.
I look forward to speaking with you.

October 24, 2011 at 10:59 am in reply to: Private: Jack adopted to Charlotte waffling; keeping him right now #12080Went to Joyce, returned b/c could not adapt to cats.
To CP for fostering.
10/22 BL picked up from CP at BL brother’s home in VA.
Thanks, Barbara.
I have reviewed many articles on various sites about airedales for two years now (including the ones you mentioned, though I did find those to be less than helpful). As you have pointed out, however, perhaps I shall wait and find a different breed to fit me.
I understand wanting to find your pets a good home; as is why I have waited until the best time to adopt, which for me is within the next year or two. Getting a new pet now would be ideal because he/she would be able to interact with more people in the training and familiarization process. The last thing I want is to get a new pet and leave them at home for eight hours upon introduction to my home. I am currently finishing grad school and living at home is the most convenient space; I think it would be a great place for a dog too.
I understand that our having a parrot and an un-fenced yard are caution flags. Thanks for giving me insight into my search.

Hello Victoria.
We rec’d your airedale adoption application. It did not include an address, which we require to continue with our process.
I don’t know if the omission was accidental or deliberate.
In any event, I am glad to make intial contact via email. Your notes indicates you live in Georgia, and 404 means Atlanta area.
So I will briefly address very frankly several of the issues you raised. Please clarify if I have misunderstood any of them.
* We will need contact information for your parents as well, as you indicate you live in their home.
* It is great that you are open to a slightly older dog. However, an airedale terrier is not a good idea as a “first dog,” at any age.
What you read on the internet or elsewhere is fine and ideal, but is not real life. Exploring some other sources would be wise.
There are a number on yahoo, for example, and Facebook, of course.
* Having no fence is a big detriment for any rescue placement.
* Very few airedales cohabit happily with large birds.
I strongly suggest you explore other breeds, visit your local animal shelter; the right dog will reach out to your heart.
Please understand my concerns. Our only goal is always to place the best dog in the best home possible.

No response, assume fell away
Banjo was returned. Adopted by Kate Wallace in Ohio.
Woman contacted Christina again.
BL will snail mail surrender form 10/12
It was from NCAire according to their FB page.
Apparently within the last couple of weeks.
Thank you for the reply. You are right, we seldom get very young airedales in rescue. It was not that you live in an apartment that concerned me as much.
Good luck, there are a lot of young dogs out there who would be great with you.

well I am looking for a younger dog, no more than six months old, and your expressed concern that we lived in an apartment so I figured that you didnt see us as potential rescuers.
