Hi Mary Ellen,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued Airedale terrier.
We received your application a week ago, and I apologize for not contacting you sooner. However, part of our process is to verify the vet information you provided,
and you got a glowing report there.
We are “low on inventory” right now, but we know that can change at any time.
I’d like to move you along our process, so you will be ready when the right girl-dale comes along.
Please let me know a convenient time to call you. I am retired, and can be available most any time; weekday afternoons are best for me.
I look forward to working with you.

NOTE: she posted to NCAR FB page asking if her application had been rec’d. I don’t know if she is confused or has applied to both groups.
Spoke to Mona today for about an hour. She’s a talker.
No ADT experience, has never met one. The famous internet research.
Seems to have a good heart. Has not had a pet for a very long time. She got to know an Irish setter quite well who belonged to an ex-boyfriend. He is gone, and she wished she could have kept in touch with the dog.
Is 56, works as a police officer for City of Mobile. Sounds like not in a patrol car, but does investigations.
May retire in next year or so, hasn’t decided. May move to country, hasn’t decided.
Her 48 yr old mentally disabled brother Alfred lives with her. Diagnosed w/ bi polar. She says is gentle and usually quiet unless he is having a manic episode, but never violent. She did not mention him on her two previous applications.
Lives in condo, small patio size yard w/ fence. Backs onto large park where many people walk their dogs, on leash.
She understands it may take time for the right airedale to come along; she is not in a hurry.
I told her all I could think of concerning the good bad and ugly of dales.
Will contact Lora Oliver for home visit, per Christina’s suggestion.
ANYTIME AFTER FIVE, OR AROUND 12 NOON MONDAY THRU FRIDAY AND ANYTIME ON THE WEEKENDS AFTER ABOUT 7AM

Tried again to your yahoo address a couple of weeks ago, with no response.
If you get this message, please reply with a preferred time to call you to go over your application.

Barbara,
I just spoke to Janie at the vet’s office and couldn’t have gotten a better recommendation! Always current on dental cleanings, heartworm, vaccines…..she said they did everything they could for Rosie, their silky terrier!

Hello Eddie,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued airedale. And my condolences on the recent death of your buddy Zeus.
It is always a pleasure to hear from airedale experienced families.
You indicated on your application that you are interested in a male puppy or young adult.
We rarely have true puppies in rescue, and it so happens we are a little “light on inventory” right now. Good for the families who have recently adopted from us, temporarily not so good for new applicants.
We never know when there will be more in our care.
I hope you would like to continue in our process so when the right match comes along, we can find you a new companion.
The first step is a phone interview; would you please let me know the best times to reach you.
Then a home visit is done by a volunteer in your area.
I look forward to working with you.

Hi Nikki and Bob,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued Airedale terrier to join you and Nelson.
We are always especially glad to hear from ‘dale-experienced families. And with a less than 2 yr old, you certainly have plenty of current activity, fun and endearing and challenging all at once.
As it happens, we are a bit “low on inventory” at the moment. Some great dales placed with great families just in the last few weeks. Of course, we never know who might come along next.
I’d like to move you along in our process so you will be approved and ready when the right new one comes along.
The first step would be a phone interview with me. I am retired, and can be available most any time at your convenience; weekday afternoons after 2:00 are best for me, but any time is fine. Just let me know.
Next we schedule a home visit by a volunteer in your area.
Then it’s on to find the best possible match we can.

Subject: Fwd: Problem with Maddie
Christina,
Please see the e-mail I sent to Sandy last night.
I thought that Maddie’s original owner (Woman) died and the
husband couldn’t deal with her fight the other dogs in the house.
Sandy thought it was the children and we wondered if Maddie has
ever lived with a male. Do you know for sure? I can’t take the risk after
last night and as much as we hate it we are returning Maddie today to
Sandy. We are so very sorry to do this.

Subj: Problem with Maddie
Sandy,
It pains me to have to tell you this but Maddie
attacked Bud again tonight without any provocation
and I hate to think what would have happened if I had not been
here. I was afraid we were going to have to go to the ER but
I think Bud can manage without stitches and we were afraid they
might want to call animal control and we really didn’t want that.
We seemed to be doing better for the past week and Bud was feeding
her and giving her lots of good things and while she would come to him
wagging her tail and all day today she was really good. We had 3 couples here for
dinner and Maddie was in our bedroom with a gate so she could still
see people and we could go back and talk to her and feed her apples so
she wouldn’t feel left out. We did bring her out after dinner and she was really sweet.
This incident occurred after everyone had left and we were all back in the bedroom
and we were planning to take her for along walk.
Bud and I have talked and talked about this and we wonder if she just doesn’t like men
and perhaps there was a problem with the man whose wife died. It may be that she needs
to be in a women only family. Sandy, we have really agonized over this and we are not
ones to give up so easily. This last episode really has us scared and we honestly don’t
think we can safely keep Maddie. As attached as I have gotten these past few weeks
I just cannot take a chance or live in fear that she will do real harm to Bud. We both just
hate this but we feel we must return her to your care or wherever Airedale rescue thinks is best.
I will call you in the morning to discuss. I am really sorry.
(As a side note, her pathology came back hemangioma which is just a “jumble” of
blood vessels, so that is great.)

Hi Sandy, this is the family that I visited today and they are interested in Maddie.
They are a newly married family and both of them have owned terriers over their lives. He owned an Airedale and she lived to be age 15. As a child, the family had a Scottish Terrier. She has a Jack Russell who is 16 plus two other Jack Russells – one is in teens and one is a Corgi/Jack Russell mix and she is about 8 yo. When I walked up to the front door, I liked that they had a decal on the door to alert authorities/fire that they had dogs in the house. Also, they don’t use their front door but a side door which is in the carport . Renea’s dad installed a gate – almost like a fence gate at the end of the steps to the side door so taht if any of the dogs darted out, that they were safe. Apparently her Jack used to bolt out the door in his younger years. Anyways – I really liked them a lot. I mentioned that Maddie is crate trained and she should remain in the crate for food/eating time and when away.

Good Morning, I spoke to Sharon at the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake and she said that they had kept up with all vaccines but couldn’t tell about flea and tick because they never bought anything from them, but maybe got it elsewhere. Couldn’t really get a good feeling speaking to Sharon because she was just a matter of fact type person.
Again I noticed that these people fed Beneful, I think we need a clause stating that Beneful is not an acceptable food to use. (Just kidding) but really this food needs to be taken off the market….Bad stuff.
