No, I’m fine with taking her back. I’m just suggesting perhaps I’ve missed something. I can’t set up the scenario where she has lashed out so I can fix it. I will be in touch with the behaviorist anyway to see what he suggests. I really wanted him to meet her. I want to get to the bottom of this thing of hers with men. I’m to the point that I don’t think anyone could believe how sweet she is, she’s on strike two and I’m truly worried!

Hi Sandy,
Stepping in here because I am the one who has been in most direct contact with the Timmers.
I truly think they have been consistent in their approach, and their caution after the first tussle. Especially since we know at the first home, it was the man who she didn’t like. All good things come from Richard, and they really did make progress.
I had cautioned when she and Gunner got in a tussle that they might have felt crowded.
He has never been aggressive toward Linda, and he and Gunnie had reached detente by week two. Not best buddies, but respectful of each other.
When I called to check in at week three, he told me of the biting incident. I wish he had called me right away.
I was going to today, he said. He feels like he has failed, which was reinforced when I spoke to Linda. I told her and him that was not at all true. His narrative of the bite to me was a little different. He said he was sitting on the floor with her, that Gunnie was in another room. They had a few minutes of petting, and then she lashed out. Very different to me than a 6’4″ man leaning over the dog, squatting or not.
I told him we could arrange to move her within a few days, and he said they would be extra careful, and would prefer to work with your schedule, Sandy, and not have her move more than once.
Have not checked in this weekend, I know you have a lot to do after being away.
When you say “maybe someone else should take her on” I would like to know what that means. Ideally, she would first go back to you for some decompress time while we find what we hope will be permanent home. Cyn will take her in if needed, and you know her “compound” is as busy as yours. But if you do not think that is best, we will think of something/somewhere else.

I spoke to Mr. Timmer on my way out of town. He indicated to me that he
thought maybe the episode was his fault for trusting her in the middle of
the night. He got up and then because she was so sweet lying on her bed he
squatted down to her level to pet her. That’s when she bit him. Could she
have been startled? I asked him to crate her at night and also told him I
would talk to a behaviorist when I got back home from my trip and he agreed
to wait. Up until this he was totally committed to her because of the
progress he saw. Has something changed or escalated?
I can’t believe she is acting this way! I’ve pulled her beard I’ve bent over
her to hug her (very dominant) and never a whisper of trouble. I am
dumbfounded. Perhaps someone else should take her on???? I’m just back in
town with all those thousand things to get done not to mention all the
laundry, etc. from the dog show trip. How quickly does he want her gone?

Hi Sandy
Well I don’t know the details but Maddie bit Mr Timmer so they are
sending her back. She bit him on face. We can figure out details but
do you want her back. Take 2.

Good phone interview 4/26.
No ADT experience, but familiar w/ terrier attitude. Her Skye terrier is sociable and gets along with other dogs.
She wants a larger one who she can exercise with.
Cat is a concern. He and the Skye are compatible. She has a littler box upstairs so the cat can retreat there; the terrier cannot climb stairs.
Need home visit.
Her fence is 4 ft vinyl.
Beach is literally across the street.
Adopted by Richard and LInds Timmer. Things were rocky at first, but by week two seemed to be smoothing out, with the other dale and with the man. Then on week three, Richard was sitting on the floor with her, all was calm, and suddenly she lashed out and bit him on face and neck. Is returning to Sandy Sutton sometime week of April 29.
Good phone interview 4/25.
They have had Nelson since puppy. He has had gastro problems, but now they have found a food that seem to be doing the trick.
Purina product they get from vet. He is a dream dog.
His best buddy is a labradoodle down the street.
I liked her very much. Certainly knows the dale personality.
Not in a big hurry. Probably would like a female, but not adamant about that.
Will ask around for home visit.

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued airedale.
Please let me know a convenient time to call you to go over your application, and determine your hopes and expectations.
I am retired and can be available most any time at your convenience. Weekday afternoons or early evenings are best for me.
I’ll have a number of questions for you to get an idea of what would be the best fit. A small terrier and a cat are considerations, of course, especially the cat.

Yes, woe is us.
I just called Barbara Porter to reinforce my email saying take down Rescueme. posting. She will.
She said when her daughter went to “airedale rescue”, she was switched to Rescueme. So who knows what site she landed on, although she did manage to find us for the surrender doc…..
Anyway, Barbara is committed to US to find him a good home.
It has been a while since we had a true youngster, a big boy at that, so I am hoping we will find someone we already know before going “viral.”

OK Good on Righton – keeps ARG fresh in her mind. that way when NC says ohhh woe is me we have so many dogs, then Righton knows that ARG is still taking in dogs. We just do not complain about it.
Glad she will take it off of Rescue me. Makes me a little nervous b/c she will get a call from the other group. They will see it.
Hope that she knows we will find him a home and she is committed to us.
I cannot think of anyone for Toby. Love the name. I know so many good Tobys! I’ll look tonight but please suggest them – and lets get this moved quickly!

I spoke to the surrendering owner.
He does not need to be fostered. She is fine with him staying with her, and quite willing to speak to a potential adopter.
Very nice lady, 71, (I asked b/c she described herself as senior.)
Her daughter urged her to get a puppy in the first place, and now told her to contact us. She had had adult dogs before.
The daughter called while we were speaking, and I heard Barbara say “I am talking to the airedale lady right now.”
I asked for a photo, and she sent me one. I asked that it be sent to me; the daughter also sent it to the RescueMe.org. I think Barbara wondered, and wrote and asked if that was the right site. I told her to take that down, or she would get many more inquiries than she would want to handle.
I’ll send you the photo, of course he is gorgeous.
I want to go over some approved applicants before even posting to our site.
Christina, I wrote earlier and just asked Righton if they were in Columbia or up at Montreat. She replied they were in Montreat, but would go home if we were desperate. I replied no, it had been handled, and thanked her.

Hi Barbara, I think I talked to you in January. I’m changing jobs and will have more time to my own instead of working long hours. I am still interested in helping rescue dogs in need. I did adopt a Lab/St, Bernard mix that turned into my shadow! She is such a loving girl, 4 years old, but was always kept outside in a pen. I have room for more at my house, and my heart.
Hope the spring is coming to you now also. My number is 704-609-0942
I’ll go on line today and check out the site.

Hi Larson,
Thank you for looking into adopting a rescued airedale. I also saw your touching tribute to Sugar Bear on our Facebook page. I know full well it is always a wrenching experience to say goodbye no matter the age or circumstances. I know you are glad she was in your arms. The pain is still very raw, I suspect.
I fully understand that you are also looking into shelter dogs in your area, and how empty the house seems right now for you and Panda. You indicated an interest in a younger dog; we never know who might come into our care next. Typically the next couple of weeks are not likely to generate a lot of new ones for us, but again, we never know……..
Please let me know a good time to call you when you have some time to chat. I am retired, and can be usually be available most any time at your convenience. I’ll have a number of questions as you might expect, so we can learn your hopes and expectations.
Look forward to hearing from you. We always especially like to hear from Airedale experienced families.

Sorry, but I adopted a forever friend from a rescue shelter in Baton Rouge, La and will be driving up to get him tomorrow, he is a mixed breed, but so ugly he is cute. My ex-husband and children’s father pasted away, or I would have gotten back with you sooner. Thank you, and hopefully I will get my Airedale in the future, possible after I build my home.
