hi
i spoke to larysa this afternoon re: teddy. He seems like a wonderful but high maintanance dog. She prepares human food for him every meal. She also mentioned he was an outside dog- he would come in due to the heat but I didn’t get clarification on if he stayed out overnight. Also he is a runner! But hse said he is really a sweet boy – she has had him since he was a puppy. Because of the divorce, she thinks they will sell their house and she will be in an apartment.
He doesn’t have any real experience with kids- she had mentioned her step son had visited since he was a baby but that the dog hadn’t lived with kids.
She is going to forward pictures to me – he is an oorang.
I think I would prefer a dog that has history with kids. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with him going into a new home and not having any experience. As we know the change itself can be difficult and I wouldn’t want to make it harder.
Please keep us in mind for any other available dogs!
Thanks again for your hard work.

Unfortunate Marjorie phoned me and talked tons about these folks and I have been negligent to update you all. She spent a good amount of time with them on Sunday. They should be approved.
They understand leash commitment since they do to have fenced yard
She said the only thing she worried about was that they smoked inside the house.
She felt they would spend a lot of time with the dog.
I think both retired.
They use a good vet
Clearly understand the amount of money a dog costs having recently had schnauzer
They had a lot of Qs about what’s next

8/1 Spoke to Jack
He sounds 100 years old and I had a little trouble understanding him at times .Plus he talked more than listened.
He recently put a deposit down on a puppy in Alabama, or was it Tennessee; litter is due in a month or so.
Then he reconsidered and thought it would be better to get an adult dale He doesn’t want his next airedale to outlive him. Wants a large male, his previous ones were 80 and 90 pounds,
He said his wife, who is 64, is all in favor of this. The son and grandkids shown live in Indiana.
Will find a HV person. In general Atlanta area, so shouldn’t be too difficutl

Anyway, they are delightful and I told them I would ask you to contact to arrange a home visit. Did I already send you their contact information? I think so. If not, I will.
They spoke so fondly and lovingly of their wire fox, who pretty much grew up with the cat.
They live on the second floor of the condo that you described.
They satisfied my concern of sidewalks only, and promised new dog would get plenty of walks and exercise.
Bill is the one who works for GPB and they are allowed to bring their dogs to work.
He and Ben have some kind of business together, I didn’t quite catch what, because Luke was busy barking at the people walking on HIS street. Ben’s schedule is somewhat flexible.
When I told them we would have to be careful to find a cat-tolerant cat, they said Millie told them that you have a cat and an airedale, and I said yes, Mo is quite an extraordinary feline, and I had the honor of meeting her once.
They were considering another Irish, a Welsh, or an Airedale as their next dog, and asked if there is a marked difference in behavior. I said all have terrier in common, and every dog is different. I pressed on if size is an issue.
I think they would prefer one on the smaller size, not one of our galumphs.
So there you have it.
Please let us know what you arrange, and your impressions. I’m guessing you will be totally charmed.

Interested in specific Airedales available for adoption on our site? Please list their names. Just starting to seriously look after losing Max and Titus in 2011 and 2012, but may be interested in Fifi. Other than her specific case (looks like a miniature Airedale), I usually prefer middle aged Airedales 5 – 9 and larger Airedales (taller, 60 – 75 lbs.). But I don’t have any set requirements. Pumpkin might be a possibility. Woody is also a possibility because my heart goes out to hard-luck cases and he reminds me of Titus who had similar health issues but he was also emotionally a bit unstable when I first got him. Getting a young dog also allows you to shape their disposition a bit easier.
Which sex are you interested in? No Preference
Are you interested in a puppy, young adult, or older animal? Select as many as apply. Young adult, Older adult, Special needs (diet or medication needs)
Questions or Comments
If you have any questions or comments for us please tell us here. I make sure that my dogs are comfortable with being in a dog crate (I keep a large wire crate for each of my dogs) but use them when I’m out, only for the first 30 days or if I’m introducing a new pack member or doggie guest. Otherwise they always have the run of the house. I walk them twice a day (6 am and 6 pm) for about 45 minutes. I drive a boxy Scion made for tall Airedales and made a custom cushion for the back area (back seats always down).
Terms & Conditions
Do you consent to home visits before and after the adoption? Yes, I consent to home visits.
Return
Are you aware that if you CANNOT keep the Airedale you adopt, you agree that it MUST be returned to the Airedale Rescue Group? Yes, I agree to return the Airedale.
Adoption Fee
Do you agree to the $300 Airedale Rescue Group adoption fee? The adoption fee is due on the day of transfer of the dog to you. Failure to pay the fee will result in ARG submitting claim through the legal system to obtain the adoption, veterinary, grooming and transport fees. Yes, I agree to pay the $300 adoption fee.
Consent
By submitting this form, I certify that the information provided on this form is true and accurate. I am physically, emotionally and financially able to care for an Airedale. I understand that proper food and veterinarian care can be costly and I am able to meet these requirements. Home visits will be conducted prior to and following an adoption to ensure the safe keeping of the dog. ARG reserves the right to decline adoption or reclaim any dog who in our judgment appears abused, unkempt or unsafe or for non-payment of the adoption fee, at any time. Thanks for your help and interest in placing a homeless Airedale.

This is an application from the Airedale Rescue Group website.
7/31 Phone conversation w/ Nancy.
They are both retired now, will not be going back to Africa or anywhere overseas.
Two sons, their spouses, and one grandson live 3-5 hours away so visits are regular but mostly major holidays,
Husband does volunteer work with local relief agency, and she helps out, It sounded like a therapeutic group, like Wendy is involved in. I asked her if she by any chance knows Gale Ford. No.
She says her husband is busier than when he was employed.
Not adamant M/F but probably she leans toward F, less than 5 years old, not a puppy.
I will ask Gale Ford to contact for home visit.
We talked about no fence. She said she would/could partially fence part of the back yard, but that no dog would ever be outside alone or off leash. There are a lot of dogs in the area who run free. Including a group of four labs down the street who roam around w/ no control by owner.
Gale Ford will HV Tues 8/6
I do, somewhat, Barbara. It’s right in the heart of Midtown where they have been putting up a lot of condos/apartments. There’s an old estate directly across the street that once took up the whole block and was once a restaurant. Developers took about a 1/3 of the space to build condos and they left some nice grassy area but I don’t think they would have access to that area – if they did, I’d feel much better about it. They’re about 8 blocks from the big Piedmont Park. I zoomed in and there are grassy areas along the sidewalks, so unlike a lot of cities there is some grass but it’s certainly not ideal. I guess a lot would be determined on whether they are good-enough walkers or if they would just walk out the door for the dog to do his/her buisness.

Hi Christina!
Addie is doing good, she’s already established dominance with RJ so he is a bit pouty right now, lol, I’m sure he will get over it though. She is such a sweet girl and LOVES to cuddle whenever she can. She seems to be very happy here with us, now we just have to convince RJ sharing is caring 😀

Hi Nicole! You’re ears should be burning because I just spoke to Nancy’s daughter Krista and she is so happy that you are able to take Addie! She was driving from Shelbyville to Augusta this morning and she hopes to get to Augusta in time to meet Addie. I don’t know what timing that you have planned to pick up from Nancy Walsh? Anyway – I think it will be fine either way. Luckily Krista is on her way to try to get things logistically and REALISTICALLY worked out for Nancy and Jim and the next steps as he comes home from the hospital and rehab (where there are only old people).
I’ve asked Krista to help Nancy to complete the ARG surrender form. Nothing for you to worry about. We’ll collect Addie’s vet records – I think she has been to a vet in Augusta/Evans area b/c Nancy said that she recently had a bordatella vaccination.
Take her home and see how she does with your pack. She was not known to fight and she lived with many other dogs at the home with Daphne. Daphne insisted that she was an only dog though because of jealousy. Perhaps jealousy will not be an issue with only one dog besides herself. Daphne accumulated more than a comfortable number in her pack due to children’s dogs coming to live with them; stray dogs arriving on the property etc. If she is a good fit – then we have found the perfect home for her. If you think she is not a good fit – we will find an ARG home for her. Either way, Addie will be fine.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for coming to the rescue of the Evans, Addie and ARG!
