You are very welcome ! Anytime you need me, please don’t hesitate. I am so glad it is going to work out. I think Rex will be very happy.
I am glad to be doing another pet therapy, unfortunately, it will not be with Jackson. I will be using puppies from the Humane Society.
Jackson is great at home with my family, but does not like Children at all. I don’t know if Barbara had told you, but last year Jackson
bit my 2 year old grandson on the head. We were right there, and it happened so fast. He punctured the skin on his forehead and one
puncture on top. It was a situation where we had told the boys not to run around the dogs, Jackson was sitting in front of me and we were all
visiting. My grandson ran up to me ,,,,, it was horrible. He went to the hospital, and got stitches. Jackson is a super dog, don’t get me wrong,
everyone that comes over loves him (not as much as I do) , and he plays great with my other 2, and my dads 2 dogs, ~ he just does not like children.
But with adults, he is a teddy bear.
We don’t know what he went through before we got him. He used to growl through the fence at the children in my neighbors
yard. We would go out and pet him, get him to relax and reassure him it was ok. He is getting better with time, and that’s what it takes;
time, patience, love and guidance.

Hey Kelsia,
I am so sorry that you are having to give up Rex. He sounds like we will fit right in with our family. It is just my husband, Richard, and me and of course out 7 month old airedale, Kenzie. She too is very very active and will greatly benefit from having playmate. We walk her twice a day and play outside a lot but she never tires

Hi, tried to document chronologies of placing teddy who is on ARG site.
Based in how it’s gone with Larysa, I do not think ARG will ever satisfy her. I also don’t want to turn back on a dale in need.
August 2013
Teddy’s owner writes to say “teddy is ready to be picked up now” so we identify Julie Slenker as foster family for Teddy. Julie and Larysa talk and Julie wants to be separated from this as Larysa is crazy and has unreasonable demands. Julie asked to be removed from the Teddy adoption
Larysa writes to me and says this Airedale Rescue appears to be something I don’t take sensuously when she calls me back and she receives Cisco voicemail. She said it appears to be a hobby. She later apologizes.
She gave me the following criteria for Teddy’s new owner
Must be an alpha.
Must be committed. If Teddy is a 2nd dog and something happens, he will be given up on first
Must be big dog experience. Teddy is a big dog and will pull you to your knees if he needs to. Also teddy comes from hunting do stock and he has killed many small things rabbits, squirrels in the garden
Must be experienced dog owner
Must have fenced yard
I mentioned the ARG contract that if for any reason that an ARG dog needs to be returned, it comes back to ARG and she said no, teddy must come back to her.
Would it be reasonable to list Teddy on our site (either available dales of mixed dales) as a courtesy and direct all questions to Larysa? The adoption is not an ARG adoption but an adoption through Larysa. Thoughts?

Hello Emily,
I am thrilled to read of your interest in Rex. He will be one year old on Monday and has been with us since November of last year. My husband, Jeff and I have three sons Jacob who is ten, Graham is seven and Wyatt is three. After researching dales we purchased Rex from the New Point Kennels in Plains, GA from the amazing Freeman family. He is a great dog with a very gentle nature but is very, very active. He loves walking and his absolute favorite activity is playing with other dogs. He knows sit but has not mastered any other training. He is mostly outside as he loves to dig and sunbathe. He sleeps in his big kennel in our room at night and is housetrained. He is a very good dog.
Why we are having to part with him is due to chronic allergies of my husband and oldest son, Jacob. We had a miniature poodle when Jacob was a toddler and never had any issues so we were heartbroken when he and my husband were found to be allergic to dogs. We have tried different medicines and cleaning routines but nothing has helped. So we reached out to ARG to find him the best home that wasn’t us. I am happy to read about your other dog and large yard and hope that Rex will make a great addition to your family.
We live in Daphne, Al which is a suburb of Mobile. I am five hours from Atlanta and I could easily drive Rex to the Georgia line and meet whomever.
Thank you for all your help Christina. I will look to hear from you soon.

Hi – I had already filled out an adoption application the last time I talked with Airedale Rescue Group (November 27 – Debbie Butler). Debbie was supposed to call me for a short interview, but never did since there were no available girls. I am now interested in learning about Rex (even though he is a boy), since he seems pretty well matched with my 13 month old 52 pound spayed Airedale Daphne who really needs a playmate. Please call. Thanks.

Julie Slenker feedback
He is good but definitely old. He is such a sweet boy but requires lots of TLC. He seems to have trouble w his hips after laying down and i did notice two lumps on his back near where his hip sockets are located. Not sure what that means for him though…He won’t go up or down the stairs so we are having to get creative on how to get him to the backyard. He is also terrified of the Hardwood floors so Shawn has been carrying him into our room at night. He can’t make it through the night without a leash-walked potty break which has been an adjustment for us.
Dudley doesn’t mind him but they don’t engage quite like I thought they would. Not sure if that isbc of the age difference or Dudley not knowing how to play w other dogs. This has shown us that Dudley definitely needs moresocialization and has become way too accustomed to being an only child. And FAT!!! ; )
Sherlockhas plenty of food- of course, he and Dudley take turns nibbling at each other’s bowls….
It has been a great learning experience and confirms that we definitely need a younger dog to keep up with Dudley. Dudley wants Sherlock to play chase in the yard and instead, Sherlock just hides in the bushes. He is so funny!

September 5, 2013 at 2:07 am in reply to: Private: Kay and David Clark – Mountain Brook AL 35223 #13928I spoke with Kay and I really liked her. They are interested in Rex. They lean toward younger dog and need one who is I the 50-60 lb range. I think some of our larger dogs were too much for them. Their last dog lived to age 13 and she got teary talking about him and not having him. She laughed that he never outgrew his puppy stage of fun playing. She understands that they must be secure. She has a fenced yard and said that Buddy would take the opportunity to run out the door if given the chance. Husband works at home. She does not work. Volunteers and cares for elderly parent.

Hey! It went really well! He is a very lovable boy! He will make someone very happy for sure. He was groomed and looked clean and had his cute little bandana on 🙂 I saw flea medicine had just recently been applied to his back so that was good too! He had a good sized yard to play in and she also had a little dog that was playing with him that she was keeping since he was small. He seemed so happy and good natured. He was playing with us before getting into the car and happy to meet us and he layed quietly on his bed looking out the window during the car ride. I sat in the back with him so he wouldnt be as nervous and he would rub his nose on my lap and arm to get more attention 🙂 When we stopped in dalton I got him out to potty and he went right away and walked calmly on the leash. He seemed like he was used to being well taken care of. Clara was very sweet. She had a nice home and was very loving towards him. I could tell she seemed devastated to be giving him up. She cried and took last pictures of him. It was very sad. I hugged her and told her that I knew you would get him placed into a loving home where he would be well taken care of and she said that was the only reason she was feeling ok about it. I felt so sorry for her as well. She just kept saying thank you all and God bless you all for taking him in. It was very emotional leaving but she said she was ready and finished her goodbyes. Their situation defiantly saddened my heart… I hope he gets a good home! I know I would want him if I didn’t have a brand new baby 😉

Grady became unpredictable with an on/off switch and he but foster. Mrs morin called very upset this week and Gale went to pick him up. He turned on Gale too in the short time that he was with her. Sadly Grady was PTS.
