I think I saw that dog on pet finder. She was in nc. Cannot remember where but she had a really cool cast! That sounds like a great connection.

I do remember Sherry from the past, as noted on prior mb. I believe she reached out as a volunteer – transport, foster, etc. I know her Airedale had that knee surgery – TPL? I remember they took him to some type of aqua therapy during recovery as I had asked her to transport an she was taking him daily to the aqua therapy.
Potential for Lucy? I could take Lucy down at thanksgiving.
Home visit idea – the girl who adopted Lilly/Lily. Kristie axon on MB.
Another HV idea is valarie perry who has Winnie.

Day 1 was a little unnerving, as she had panic-eaten (normal for her) too much food. I thought she was starving so gave a little extra. Seems she just has a pretty good eating disorder. She eats as fast as she can, and appears to be bottomless. So instead of sleep, she paced most of the night until I couldn’t take it any more and brought her into my bed, where she panted literally all noght. I thought it was torsion or ?? and almost took her to emer vet. But appears to be she simply ate too much, too fast. We’ve switched to the pitching in the yard method and she can go forage for the food. in attempt to maybe not cure her but at least cure the problem of eating to fast. . . .
but yes, not fights so far and they are both very happy when I get home. and that dammed cat is still alive. She’s funny around him- – she’s nipped at him a couple times, then last night when I put treats out in a dish on the floor, the cat was near me (and the dish) and she wouldn’t come near it. . . because the cat was there. so not sure what to make of that. ?

Lucy proves to be a counter surfer. She will even take a dish rag out of the sink that has wiped up food. Ugh! I caught her in time and she appears to like to suck on it.

Christina,
My wife, Contessa, and I are interested in adopting an Airedale. We recently lost Zeb, our Airedale of the past 8 years, to cancer in early September 2013. We noticed Hudson and Zelda on the rescue website and would like to discuss further information about them. We filled out the online application yesterday, and would like to know what to do next. Contessa is a Veterinarian in Marion, NC, and serves as adjunct instructor for the Veterinary Technology program at AB Tech in Asheville. We have children ages 3, 5, and 6, and we all truly miss having an Airedale as part of our family. We can be contacted through our email, home phone at 828-738-4813, Contessa’s cell at 828-442-8644, or my cell at 828-442-0405. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Will and Contessa Thomas

Joyce gave me a bowl that will slow down Lucy’s eating. She is afraid she will go into torsion since she eats so fast. I. Have observed that she does inhale her food and sometimes will choke when eating bc she goes so fast.
Lucy a very affectionate and needy. She will sit next to you on couch and she is nearly hugging you. She is very touchy.
Does well on walks.

Notes from Joyce Chandler
more information than you ever needed to know about Lucy…………Her rabies is good until September 2014, she is due for her DHLP2 and bordetella. She is also due for her heartworm med. I use either Interceptor or Sentinel. She was supposed to have it this past weekend, but I was in the hospital and didn’t remember it till last night on the way home from Wilson. As you can see, she needs groomed badly. She is a freak about getting her nails clipped. I gave them permission to sedate her the last time she had a bath (only two weeks ago) so they could get her nails. When I picked her up they said “oh, she was no trouble at all!”. They either lie or Lucy is a Jekyll/Hyde dog. I have never been able to clip her nails. I will tell McMillan to release her records when asked.

Oh poor sweetie. Imagine how much even more charming he will be when his health is better. He and Dudley will really give you a run for your money then!
If you paid up front at the vet today, I will reimburse you as soon as I get the invoices.
If you haven’t yet paid, have them call me and I will provide our credit card information.
Either way, we will cover his expenses.
I did have to chuckle at the gas report. Our Jack has that pungent aire about him also, unlike any other dog we’ve ever had.
This lovely habit is fairly recent and may be due to a medication he is on, as that is the only recent change. Fortunately it is only for another two weeks.
Send any paperwork to me:

I don’t know if I will tell the Lincolns. They were so charmed by him, and would feel badly if something was missed by their vet.
I did forward to them the photos you posted on FB.

Christina/Barbara,
Ok, so our boy Hudson is definitely under the weather…. He is without a doubt infested w Heartworms as the Vet, Dr. Best, did another test for free. He looked at it under the microscope and confirmed them. Hudson also tested positive for Ehrlickia, or Rocky MountainSpotted Fever caused by tick bites. This would explain his hip pain/joint tenderness. Thiscan be effectively treated w antibiotics and is notcontagious. Hudson also has swollen lymph nodes and Tonsilitis (who knew dogscould get that??)That is where thecough is stemming from. Otherwise, his heart and lungs “sound good” to Dr. Best.
Hudson was given a large dose of penicillin today and also prescribed Doxycillin (14 day dose) for a few reasons: tonsilitis, RMSF and in combination w Heartguard for post-mortem worm bacterial release. Apparently this drug will help w all 3 issues. He told me to wait and give him the Heartguard he gave me on Nov 15. Then call him in a month to start HW treatment. He seemed tothinkHudson would respond well to treatment and once treated, any abnormalities would go back to normal. He does not have any kind of heart murmur at this time. Apparently when the HWs die, the bacteria released by the dying worms is what makes dogs so sick so you have to treat in combination w Dixycycline and ideally with a healthier status than where he is now. Hudson also has very terrible gas so Dr. Best said to watch him for loose stools. It may be causedby all the changes in food he has been receiving or by another type of dormant, non-egg laying worms. I inspected a fresh poopie and it appeared “normal”, just stinky. To be continued…
His stitches came out today. Said the incision looked fine but it was a very large incision w archaic looking stitches that he wouldnot use on a dog. (Ok…?? ) Dr. Best is a great vet but a little onthe “Snooty” side when it comes to animals… ; )
Otherwise, Dr. Best said he was anice looking Airedale w a great demeanor w all he has been through. Hudson is up to 61 lbs today from the 55 lbs he was on 10/28. Dr. Best thought 5-10 more lbs would be his regular weight.
I will keep you posted on his progress. He is such a sweet boy and loves Dudley! He did escape from the crate today though while i was at work but did not mess in the house or tear anything up. ; )
Adventures w Hudson! <3

I spoke to both Lil Reynolds, surrendering owner, and Nancy this evening.
They are going to speak, arrange to meet, and both know if it seems good to all, Nancy can take the boy home.
Lil said several times he is a handful. At one point I heard his big bad bark in the background. She confirmed he is up to date on immunizations and she’d put together a folder with current records. I neglected to ask if he had been chipped.
She said he lives up to his name, and they should have named him Serenity.

Hi,
Zelda is micro chipped! She was always eaten quickly, and drinks a lot, but never shown signs of food aggression. I always felt she was younger, she never acted like an old dog! I’m so glad she’s doing so well!

oh, forgot to ask—did she drink a lot of water at one time? more than your other dog?
She has been drinking LOTS of water, not sure if its nerves or something we need to check out

Hello again, forgot to ask a question when we went for her heart worm check ( she passed with flying colors —so now on heart worm and flew meds)
Is Zelda micro chipped?
Has she always eaten real fast like she would never have another meal?
She is now being fostered down by you in midway with another Airedale for evaluating.
So far she is doing fine with the other Airedale and we are one the second day.
My vet feels she is around 6 to 8 yrs old and that is what I had thought ( just lost my 9 yr old and Zelda is a pup compaired to Miss Emmie)
She was great at the vet for me and was on her best behavior
Hope we can find her a forever home soon
Pat
