I just spoke with her. Did she tell you the dog may be pregnant? I did post for transport for her, but I do not want to step in on anything you have already set up. I am assuming this is the dog in TN, posted for free?

free 5yo female airedale dog. House broke and runs in a fenced yard. She gets along well with other dogs and people. We rescued her only to give her time to find a home. She will make a wonderful family pet. Contact us if interested. Must move her ASAP.

Confirming his address as 1522Eagle neck dr, Townsend, ga 31331
Ranger had a stick stuck in the roof of his mouth-horizontal, had to be removed by vet. I think it had been there since adoption
Ranger has gotten car sick every time he rides in my car.
While boarding over weekend of 3/5/14″. Rangers neuter incision became irritated. Dr Lapham said the incision is usually done on the inside front of the scrotum for a dog his age. Only puppies have incision where Rangers is. It makes for difficult healing. Dr l put him on a week of cephalexan. Also tramadol. 1 pill per 50 lb every 8 hrs.
Expenses
I pd 51 on my credit card for Rangers appt (initial dr l appt after shelter release)
I pd $75 via check to groomer
USPS for calendars $16.38
Collar for R (requires a smaller martingale due to his squirrlynes)=8
Boarding and fecal=62.40
Medicine 16.25
Total owes $229
Hi Christina,
Yes, I heard from Lisa earlier today (see below) and we are all set for the pick up tomorrow. Thank you for helping to make the connection! We are so excited to meet Winnie and bring her home with us tomorrow. We will honk and wave as we drive through Raleigh tomorrow night!

Joslyn:
I am glad ARG has been able to find a good home for Winnie. We love her so much that it is breaking all of our hearts to let her go. We have worked very hard over the past year to keep her safe, and I thought we had been making progress. She is a bolter and if there is another dog, especially a small dog outside, she will want to get to it. I know you have been told she has a strong prey drive, but you need to know that she will attack a small dog. That is what has happened twice now with us, unfortunately. We have two very active teenagers, and while we work hard to keep all doors shut, it is very hard to be sure that will be the case with their friends coming in and out of the house. We do not think that we can continue to keep her safe. I wish we had a home situation where this was so. We have a wonderful fenced in backyard, but the attacks have happened when she somehow slips out the front. We live in a neighborhood that has many small dogs that walk by every day, and it is very tempting for her.
Aside from what I said above, Winnie is an amazing dog. She is incredibly sweet and very generous with her kisses. She will probably become a velcro dog for you. She likes my male dog and does play with him, but usually at his initiation. She has no problem living with another dog. We will miss Winnie wiggling her behind when we come in the door. She is truly a pleaser and can be trained. She runs sometimes with my husband and has gone as far as 4 miles at good pace. She loves it. She will run as if she hasn’t a care in the world.
She has never had an accident nor destroyed anything in the house. She does not counter surf. She will beg for food, and will eat anything, including vegetables(!) but is not obnoxious about begging. She is very afraid of thunder and fireworks. I am sending along a thunder shirt and some medication that can be given if she is agitated by it. She will just stand and shake otherwise. She is ok with baths (although we do it in a shower) … perhaps “tolerate” is a better word, and learning to be good with grooming. She eats 1.25 cups of Solid Gold Wolf King 2 times per day. I will send some along for you to mix if you are transitioning food.
I will also send along her heart guard and comfortis for fleas. We got her a nice bed, which I will send unless you say otherwise, as I think my other airedale will keep wondering why she is not in it. She loves hoofs and especially knuckle bones. She really likes any bone. I will send a leash and collar with her, as well as a prong collar which we found necessary to use for walking (prey drive).
When we brought Winnie home, we introduced her to Paddington at a neutral sight a mile away. Winnie was very aggressive to him at first, and we just walked in very large circles around the yard with Winnie following Pad, closing the gap over time. By the time we walked home, Winnie and Pad were side by side and they’ve not had a bad moment since.
We believe she may have been raised by an Hispanic family at one time and may have been called “Rhea (Ray-uh)”… she has sometimes responded to “aqui” more readily than “come”.
If there is any way that your friend could come closer to 2:30 or 2:45, that would be great. My 14 year old daughter, who is especially broken up by this parting, will be home shortly after 3:30 and I do not want her to see Winnie leaving. My address is:
1375 Mayfield Manor Drive
Alpharetta, GA 30009
I checked Facebook on the chance you might have pictures of your other Airedale and see wonderful pictures of your cute dog, and also that you and your husband are avid hikers. While you’ll need a leash for Winnie, I think you’ll find her to absolutely LOVE the outdoors and the woods and trails. Your energy for it will many times wane long before hers. Would you be willing to let us friend request you, so we can continue to see pictures of Winnie in her new home?
Thank you for taking Winnie and giving her a new home where she can be safe. I keep telling my kids that we are doing this because we love her and want her to be safe.
Please feel free to call me any time: 770-772-0436.
Thanks,
Lisa Gould

Hello Lisa,
I am so honored to be inheriting Winnie from your family. She will be well cared for and will live with a male ‘dale who is also a rescue from ARG. I grew up in Marietta, GA – so even though Winnie is moving to VA, she will always be a Georgia girl to us!
My friend Meredith (included in this email) will be working in Alpharetta on Tuesday and can come by your house around 3pm to pick up Winnie. All she will need is your address. Meredith is a true dog lover and will be a perfect transport buddy for Winnie.
Will Winnie be moving with any items? Collar? Leash? Special toys/bones? What is her food routine?
Thank you all for making this happen. We will welcome Winnie into our family with open arms.

Tuesday still works. We’ve broken it to the kids and they are upset that it is happening so fast, but every day I look at her sweet face, my heart breaks, so as think it is good that it is happening this week. I know she will be loved and well cared for.
Please let me know the details of the person picking up Winnie. Yes, Tuesday between 2 and 3 is good. I want it to happen before Sarah gets home at 4:00, so she does not see her leave.
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Joanne, I thought of you all today and wanted to check in. Great update and yes it sounds like a who is in charge thing between you and Lucy. She wants to be in charge, be your protector, handle the situation. My trainer would say……Lucy has to know that Joanne is in charge and not Lucy, Lucy does not need to protect Joanne, Lucy needs to know she does not need to protect you because you are in charge. Sounds like you are on right path to recognize this early and engage with a trainer. I have a guy in Raleigh who has been in my life since I had my first dale named Rosie and I probably have a lesson with him once a year. Definitely more when i have had a situation that required repeated help. He has helped me through some foster dogs, my own dogs. In fact I am going to a new class with him in March called Urban Agility. I think you should engage in one to help you 1:1 with her issue then maybe there is a group setting where you can work with Lucy in a controlled setting and the trainer can correct you in situations. Of course, 1:1 is best at first and probably is a 1 or 2 session plan.
Please let me know how it goes.

hopefully this picture comes through-I’m a little stupid with that stuff. Lucy has been doing great. Loves doggy day care-gets along with all the dogs. One thing we have noticed is that when I take her on walks and we come across other dogs on leases, she barks and starts to go after the dog. Karl thinks she is protecting me. I am a little concerned about that and am looking into a trainer to hopefully give me help on how to stop her from doing that. She loves her walks on the beach but again when coming up to other dogs she wants to go at them. Any suggestions along with going to a good trainer? She responds great to commands but is definetly my dog. I keep up to date on the website to see how all the other dogs are doing in regards to getting adopted. Joanne
