Moving to new category, moved on still likes us

Sherry husband was not on board to have another dog

I still think that sherry could be approached if a dog came up in her area that she could meet

        Hi Laura and Dana

I want to introduce you two. Laura has been foster mom to Lucy. Dana is an approved ARG applicant who is interested in adopting Lucy. Dana and her husband live in Ashboro NC. Dana had a few question about Lucy which I was able to respond to but she may have some day to day questions about Lucy that Laura could respond to. Then, Dana would like to come this weekend to Marietta and meet Lucy and take her home. I know Laura’s schedule is busy with kids and activities so please work around the schedule. Dana is a school teacher and has a 3 day weekend…..still not out of school until mid June!

Please chat among your selves. If there is anything ARG can answer, let us know. We are very excited about the match for mIss Lucy.

I have informed Dana about the incident with Daisy this week šŸ™

        hi Dana,

I’m a volunteer with ARG. I work closely with Barbara Lawson and Jackie Cash. We have an AIredale, Lucy who is ready for adoption. Lucy is 5 years old and 100 lb. We have a few pictures of her on the website. She came to ARG because her owner died. She has always been a #1. Her owner loved her very very much. Lucy could lose some lbs! She’s a little heavy – she enjoys being a couch potato. Currently she is in foster in Atlanta with an Airebrother. Let me know if you’re interested – seems like perfect timing since school will be getting out soon!

Hi, Peggy. I am sorry that you have decided against Clyde. I hope that I didn’t scare you off by his early lack of house training, because he is NOW house-trained. But, you should not adopt a dog that you do not feel will work for you.

We have 3 males coming into rescue this week: a 15-mo-old whose family’s situation has changed such that they have no time for him. Two males, 1-1/2 years old, brothers. They’ve lived outside apparently all their lives.

We still have Lucy, but she’s right at 100 lbs, and that’s too big for you. Then we also have a new girl, Stella, who will need to undergo HW treatment before she’s ready. I think I’m forgetting one or two. It’s been a very busy week with dogs coming in.

You are approved for adoption, Peggy, so we’ll keep you on file. Watch our web site or FB page and if you see one that you think would work, please just let me know.

Best to you and your son.

Dear Jackie, My major concern is for Clyde and his needs and after much consideration I feel that I cannot give him the care he deserves. Of great concern is the “house broken” issue as I do not have a fenced in back yard which would be a necessity.. I am concerned also that Clyde may not have the independent nature that I am so admired in my Airedale, Paddy. When one considers what Clyde may have experienced in his young life, his behavior is understandable and he is not really responsible. However, he deserves someone that can accept him as he is with no questions or concerns. My Son reminds me that when the right one comes along it will feel right and not be accompanied by any feelings of indecision. I know that I am being unfair to compare one dog to another, but Paddington was such an intuitive, demanding, smart beautiful fellow and I am most likely still grieving his loss. But do not give up on me. Thank you so much for your consideration. Peggy

            Subject: Clyde from ARG

Hi, Peggy. Again, thank you for your time today. I am enclosing photos of Clyde. I’m sorry some need to be rotated; I tried to save them in the right aspect, but it didn’t work.

Here is everything that we know about Clyde so far:

Compilation of comments about Clyde from Barb Saylor:

Well Clyde is indeed a sweetie. Still not able to get what I would consider a good photo because Clyde wants to be right up in your face being petted or delivering kisses. This is his “why did you stop rubbing me?” look. He’s very friendly toward his furry family here, and our group has calmed down quite a bit.

He really is so sweet and the only difficulty is that he is not at all housebroken so he can’t sleep inside at night. However, the other guys are so glad to see him when they go out during the night that they’re not wild about coming back in.

Clyde is a perfect gentleman—by observing him strolling the perimeter of ā€œhis estateā€ one would think all that’s missing is a comfy smoking jacket and favorite Cuban cigar.

Clyde is that he walks very nicely on his leash

He’s a tad bit on the thin side – although you could never tell looking at all that rich fur, and his teeth look pretty good.

Clyde will be quite a delightful dog for his new forever family. He gets along great w other dogs-male and female. He’s affectionate but not obnoxious–ie not a roundly jumper, etc. He likes his ‘major hug outs’ like his Uncle Z, but does not appear to be overly needy. Fully vaccinated now, all checked out by vet with no noticeable problems, and vet says he appears to be between 2 and 4. And when he wags that little tale you just want to take him into your arms! Impossible to tell how he’d do around children as none have been with us since his arrival. We have no indication that he possesses talents for vacuuming, dusting, or cleaning bathrooms. I’m tempted to put the boy to the test though. I would venture to guess he would work nicely as an only dog or w kids because he is calm and independent.

He really is a sweetie, gets along quite well with the other crowd, and will make a great pet for a lucky family

After Clyde was attacked by one of Barb’s dogs and came home from the vet’s, Barb commented:

The positive spin on Clyde’s unfortunate circumstances is that there’s a good chance he may be housebroken by the time he moves on to his forever home. He is continuing to rest and recover in the comfort and peace/quite of the kitchen and foyer while Truman, Tilly, and Ziggy stay out doors except when they come in to the bedroom at night through another door at the other end of the house. He’s eating, drinking, and the wounds are slowly showing improvement. I slept in the living room where I could keep an eye on him during the night, and this morning when I got up, he was standing at the living room door just wagging that little stub of his. I still don’t think he’s quite ready for a long ride, but I will continue to give you progress reports.

We tried fixing him some nice fresh beef liver for dinner last night. Not interested — but he’s eating other good stuff including dog food, chicken, and eggs.

And when he stands there and looks up at you with that little stump of a bunny rabbit tale just wagging away, you just want to squeeze him.

And on the housebreaking front – it’s funny because now he just gets to be in the kitchen/foyer/AND den during the day. When he sees that I’m getting ready to leave he crawls up into the nice leather couch and settles in for a nice time of listening to the soft music. NO ACCIDENTS and NO DESTRUCTION. I can only imagine what would happen if we left Tilly and Truman alone all day in the den. Ziggy’s not destructive, but oh those (2 year old) puppies!!!

            I want his life..

Peggy, I am going to let Barb Saylor know that you are going to call and tell her a bit about you. She will want to know what kind of home he’s going to, of course. But, here is her cell number: 803.308.2147.

Finally, I am sorry for the confusion with the NCAR group and Lori Nelson.

I hope that you and Clyde are a match, but if not, we will do our best to help you find just the right Airedale.

              Vetted on 5/20. 56#.

Determined to be approx 6-8. Front teeth are bad but back teeth are not bad. She is HW pos. requires a month of doxy bc she tested pos for tick born illness. Tape worms but she was dewormed. She had over three dozen ticks on her. Ann and I had felt loose skin (we thought) behind her arm pits but they were ticks! Dr Carin could not tell if she had been spayed.

Note from Angel, the lady who pulled the newest ARG dog for me. Needs name. Ann Monte will help me name her. I owe $30 pull fee and some gas money.

She was brought in by someone who found her and couldn’t find an owner. She needs a bath and grooming. She is very sweet, she was in kennel along, but she is a tall dog, but stunning. She walks so dainty and the AC officer said she is such a sweetheart, She kissed her on the head when leaving. She was letting us pet her and she licked my sister’s face. She was definitely taken care of by someone, but she must have been lost or something. She walks so nice. I think she is 10. She takes her time to get in and out of car. That was the first time I have seen an Airedale in person, they are beautiful. Please keep us updated how she is and thank you again for replying so fast and taking her in your rescue. If there are any other dogs here at the shelter that you or someone are interested in the volunteers are working so hard to get them out and are always willing to help transport. TY again. Oh and Colleen game me a check so you can just give her husband the money for her.

Airedale Terriers Pure Bred x 2 (Kennesaw)

I have two Airedale Terriers – Oorang line, two brothers from same litter – 1.5 years old. They cannot be separated – as they have known nothing other than being together. They are already neutered. I hate to part with them but unfortunately my allergies are now ten times worse than before. Additionally, they have had some training when they were puppies. They need some additional training, as they do like to jump on new people – they get excited. Additionally, they are not accustom to being around other dogs and I have seen them get excited. They should not be around other dogs until properly trained. These are absolutely gorgeous dogs – Peyton – approx 90lbs and Lincoln 110 lbs. I did not have them registered with the AKC, as this was not important to me. I have all the breeder information if you would like to see it. They are good around children – I have a 16 year old, 11 year old and 7 year old who love to play with them. They are sad to see them go but they understand Mommy is getting sick.

Additionally, I have two high quality harnesses, leather leashes, and thick collars – purchased from police dog equipment provider. I will be selling those as well – $200.00 for all – paid >$300.00.

Hello, Kierssis. Thank you for talking to me just now. I am so sorry that your family’s situation has changed so that Nemo is not getting the attention you know that he needs. It is very unselfish for you to think of what he needs rather than what you and your family are feeling about letting him go.

As we talked about, I am a volunteer with Airedale Rescue Group (www.airedalerescuegroup.com) and we have been rescuing and placing Airedales in the southeast for over 12 years. I myself have been involved since 2000 or 2001. You can go to our web site and to FB and see the care we take with placing our Airedales. You can read the application and see the kind of information we require before we let someone adopt. We interview the people by phone and in person with a home visit. We check their references and their vet references. We follow up with them on how their Airedale is adjusting to their family.

I will contact one of our Airedale friends in your area and let you know their name and then they can come over and meet Nemo and your family. If you are not comfortable with our Airedale friend, you are certainly free to refuse our help. As we discussed, we are also willing to help you in your own search for a suitable family for Nemo.

I look forward to talking to you again, Kierssis, and thank you for your love of your sweet boy, Nemo.

                          Sincerely,

I just got off the phone with her and didn’t tell her until into the conversation that we were a rescue group. She wants to make sure that Nemo stays close so her daughter can continue to see him. They just moved to this area and their jobs have changed and her husband is now traveling a lot; she is teaching at a school that is further from home than when they lived in Florida and they just dont have the time for him. She is reluctant bout rescue but I told her that we are very careful about who we adopt to and they must show that they know about Airedales and that he shouldn;t go to someone who doesn’;t know Airedales. She softened a bit but said she has to talk to her husband about it. I told her that we had friends in the Atlanta area and I could probably have someone come over soon to meet him and talk to her. Who is new Kennesaw? I think if we act quickly, we’ll get him. In the meantime, I told her I would email her and give her info about us and get back to her with the name of our friend who could come visit.

Should I let Bobbi and Sidney know we’re on top of it?

Dear Jackie, So enjoyed the visit from Susan and her Airedale, June. Having visited kennels with Linda (LynAire) and Horatio her handler and a breeder of Airedales, followed by Susan and June, I can truly say in spite of the multiple awards for the two professional breeders, Susan’s Airedale at 65 lbs was more of what I consider an Airedale. I had a really tough time seeing all those beautiful dogs, mostly females caged for the greater part of their lives and appearing to be set aside when no longer useful for breeding. I know they care for their animals, but love, sorry did not see it. I have rescued a neighbor’s cat this week and have her housed in Paddington’s travel kennel as she required stitches and must be confined for 10 days. I know God does this to me, knowing I have no particular affinity for cats, He keeps throwing them at me. Guess I have a lesson to learn. Fortunately, she is a wonderful, loving cat, more of a neighborhood cat. Looking forward to hearing from Rescue. Take care, Peggy

Hi, Peggy. I am happy to tell you that you have been approved to adopt an Airedale from ARG. Susanne gave you a glowing recommendation and agreed with my impression that you will provide a wonderful home for a rescued Airedale.

Now, it’s just a matter of us finding the right one for you, Peggy, and one that will be compatible with your 9-year-old Chihuahua and not as large as Paddy was. I don’t think we have just the right one for you at this moment, but that could change quickly.

I will keep you in mind and if you notice one on our site that you are interested in, please let me know.

Just left you a voice mail message, checking to see if you have someone coming to the shelter to pick up the dog or does Collen need to transport. We need to let her know the location to make sure it is near her. Thank you Angel Terribile 910-892-6078
