Christina, Zeke has been favoring his right side and today I decided to find out why. The vet thinks Zeke is suffering from arthritis, and suggests rest for two weeks, rimadyl twice a day for a week and no Airedale playdate until after the inflammation is lessened. I hated to hold the playdate and have Zeke looking out the window…
I think any adoption of a younger dog should be put on hold until we find out what we’re dealing with, because if a younger dog invited Zeke to play, knowing Airedales, he would and pain be damned! Let’s keep in touch, however.
Thanks,
Karen

July 2, 2015 at 10:27 pm in reply to: Private: Karen & Walter Wiebe’s Willing to Foster Spring 2017 #13262Visited with Karen, Walter & Zeke. The property is completely fenced and you can only get into the driveway by a doorbell access that is opened from the house, when Karen knows the dogs are secure. Had a previous ‘dale, Sally who had bad hip displaisa – was treated at NCSU vet.
Not sure if they are interested in Nick due to his house training problem. Nick ran around their house and was submissive to Zeke. Zeke kept jumping on Nick. Walter asked if his hips were certified and I told him no, our group would not have the funds to do that. Walter also thought that Nick looked nice and sturdy. Looked at his teeth, felt all over his body. He found this bump on Nick which I have felt before, it is a wart.
I will follow up with them after the weekend.

Hi MP I completely understand about respecting Churchill with his illness. I would do the same. THank you for thinking of it. I wanted you all to have the opportunity and of course, when you are ready, let us know and we’ll be on the lookout for a match for you all. Take care, enjoy your time with the kids – especially churchill.

Christina,
Sally is a doll! she looks like a real sweetie.
Thank you for giving us the option to adopt her (foster/adopt). We do want very much to have another Dale. Knowing that the Scotties are 10 and that they only have a very few years left we had planned to wait but knew that if there was someone like Sally available that we would go ahead and adopt sooner. However, considering our situation with Churchill’s cancer we just don’t feel that it is appropriate right now. We don’t know how much longer we will have him and fear that the trauma of introducing a new person would be too much for him to handle. I know that Victoria would not have a problem at all —- she loves everybody! She and Tucker are best buddies. Tucker would certainly complain but I don’t think it would be anything he would not adjust to.
We do thank you again and hope that you will be able to find a wonderful family for this sweet little girl. Please know that if it is a temporary emergency for her to be placed somewhere we will certainly consider that for right now.
I will keep you updated on Churchill. After that we can begin to look seriously again.
Thank you and the best in finding Sally a home.
p.s. odd bit of data, my grandmother’s name was Sally and when I was born my mother named me Sally. After I got home from the hospital my father had my name changed!!!!!

Hi MP and Brett You all had indicated an interest in adding a ‘dale to your family. We have a new girl who is coming into ARG care and she is in Salisbury. Her name is Sally and she is not even 1 yr old – her birthday is in August. Her owner had always adopted older golden retrievers but had wanted an Airedale. Shortly after bringing Annie into their family, the owner fell down her steps and became injured – broken shin, ankle (?) – various injuries. She is still recovering from her injuries and she has a potential surgery ahead of her. She has decided to find a new home for Sally. Would you all be interested in adopting her. We would call it a foster to adopt situation as she still needs to be spayed. ARG would cover the spay and we would want to do this as soon as possible in your care. The owner is wanting to do this as soon as possible. If interested, would this weekend work for you? Please consider and let me know! Thanks.

Hello again, Deborah.
Thank you for your continued interest in adopting a rescued Airedale.
We do have your adoption application on file. However, we cannot move you to our approved list, as we have not been able to schedule a home visit for you. Apparently there were some lapses in communication with a volunteer attempting to arrange that essential step in our process.
Pixie is spoken for at this time.
Let me know if you have any other questions about our process.

I have been waiting to see a female Airedale. Martin, our 9 yr old Airedale was also shy when we ‘adopted’ him @ age 10 months from our daughter who decided to go to grad school. Martin is a gentle dale- somewhat standoffish when with us in pet friendly shops. However, to his family- especially my husband who is Martin’s pack leader, Martin is a true Airedale. He is the best security system we could have. He loves to have canine company- our grand pups include two Bichons- Molly and Ranger, and Buzz a Belgian Malinois. Our neighbor’s dogs include a rescued mixed breed- part pit/lab and a Yorkie. We are also blessed to have 2 senior Golden Retrievers.
We would love to meet Pixie- I am sure that you have had many requests for her. You have my application-please let me know if you have already found a home for Pixie- but I think she would be a happy ‘dale with the Jones’.
We would really like to adopt/rescue and would consider an older female. Thank you for all you do for this very special breed.
Martin sends a big WOOF- Deborah Jones

i was a much longer work day than i anticipated…..
i think this falls under the category of everything happens for a reason. My husband and i just found out that we will be grandparents for the first time in the fall. So excited!(thought this might never happen….)
Our daughter still lives in Nashville and we will be traveling back and forth frequently to support so think expanding our family to two dogs right now is probably not a good move. Kelly has really adapted to the travel. <undefined>
So for right now can you put us on hold. If you need help to transport Duke or something else let me know.
let me know how i can help….

Hi Christina-Lucy is doing great. Loves daycare and all the dogs. Still working on issues with dogs on leashes but getting better with that. She loves snuggling with me. She is now a whopping 75 lbs-all muscles so she gives me a workout on our walks. I keep up with the rescue center website and love that the dogs get adopted relatively quick. Been meaning to send pics to you so will get on with that. How is Tuna doing? Trying to stay warm but at least not getting the snow like up north. Take care- Joanne
