08/15/19: Erin is not ready to adopt. They love Nigel and he’s all they need right now.
08/15/19: Interviewed George (58) who goes by Geordy and his dad, George (80). They both are talkers and talk over you and each other.
HE owns a couple of businesses and sold a business. His mom got very sick and he took off a couple of years. He’s gone back to school to become a radiology tech (at 58!) and has 2 more semesters and he’ll be out.
His entire family loves dogs.
They’re very active and have about an acre and live on 18th hole of golf course. His dad in excellent health and walks in the woods with him and Bandit and has no problems walking. Bandit is very high energy and they play football and he brings it back.
Has always had terriers. Lives on a golf course. 2-3 weeks ago, his IT got sick and had severe kidney problems. Got Bandit when the IT was 4. Bandit was a pup and got him from breeders. Looking for a slightly older, rescue dog. Would consider a puppy.
How have your other dogs been trained? When he talks to him as a command, he’ll stop. In the woods, he does come back. Responds to his name and whistle.I didn’t get to ask all the questions I had for them because they talk too much. I explained that Airedales can’t be trusted off leash (they let Bandit off leash when they go to the woods, but he has a GPS and comes back when they call or whistle). Explained that neither George (Airedale in Florence) nor Oscar would be good for them and the reasons why.
My email to them:
Hello, again, Geordy and George. I appreciate your time today to discuss your application to adopt from ARG. It sounds like you could provide a good home for an Airedale with your yard right on the golf course, the woods near your home, and because of your love of terriers. I’m so sorry you lost your Irish Terrier, Brody, and understand that your Welsh, Bandit, would love a new best friend as much as you both would. Please apply to adopt through Sunshine Airedales of Florida: https://www.airedalerescueflorida.org/
as they may have an Airedale for you. Once they receive your application, they will contact you and then will follow that with a home visit. That is required for them and for us before an adoption. We also talked about Irish Terrier Rescue. http://www.irishterrierrescuenetwork.org/
They typically have more ITs than we have Airedales.Again, thank you for your time today and I look forward to hearing from you once you’ve had your home visit in FL.
Jackie
08/15/19: Alan & Catherine love Curley (they changed his name) and he is settling in nicely.
08/15/19: Jessie Gates is interested and will get him if her home visit is good!
August 15, 2019 at 12:33 pm in reply to: Private: Mackenzie Franklin, Durham, NC moving to CLT NC 27701 Needs father on board to adopt he is living in house they intend to occupy #2342108/14/19: Per Barbara Yager in response to JMC’s question as to whether they might be good for Oscar.
First you have to know if she and hubby have moved in and father brother have moved out. That will tell you what dog to offer.
* Oscar doesn’t like male dogs and the Newfoundland is male
Their airedale is female and seemed quiet.* I don’t see the father as active. Big and tall but not fit. He did not seem to want a new dog with the Newfoundland .
* If Mac and hubby have moved in, they are young enough to be what we call active on a regular basis, and may be able to afford day care
* AND they need to fix their fence and not at all working gate. They are on a very busy road so a dog that will run would not work.
07/28/19: Izzy adopted by Marcela Hincapie-Martinez.
08/14/19: Sent contract & med records.
08/11/19: Bay can take Bella 08/25/19 and Bella will be spayed on 08-26-19.

August 13, 2019 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Private: Jane Griffin, Dry Ridge, KY (former adopter) #23413Background: Jane turned down George because she goes to so many events every year she thinks he would become too excited at each new thing. He would have to be crated a lot at these events and she doesn’t think this would work.
08/06/19: I spoke to Jane again about George and told her how well he has been doing with Cindy – specifically about the child running up to him to pet him and Cindy having him sit and wait. She said she would think about it some more and when she goes to VA soon she’ll try to go see him in Florence.

Hi, Erin. THIS IS NOT FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE! We have 2-3 male puppies 4 to 4-1/2 months old. Are you interested? They’ll be in Charlotte next week. Not on FB and not on our web page. Just letting people who we consider “golden” know about it. Let me know.Sadly, we need to pass. Our schedules are pretty rough and that would mean too much crate time for a little guy.
Their dog will be alone 8 hrs a day. Nigel is no longer crated and does well alone. How old is George?

Subject: Terry StameyHi, Pat. We got this on messenger from the Stamey’s:
Hi, I filled out an application just a few days ago. Our ‘dale male of 13 years passed a year ago. I was leaning towards a female. However, Dash is a close match in that my husband is 62, and semi retired, in and out of the house daily. I am a school librarian so I am home in summers with 2 years left until retirement. I have 2 cats and a yorkie mix (neutered). I do have grandchildren under 3. Anyway, just thinking aloud, I know we’re in the beginning stage of the process. Thanks!
Terry and Dennis StameyThose grandchildren under 3 years old give me pause.

08/12/19: Jackie will interview.
08/12/19: Anne is wearing me out. I have an email every day about Dash. I will be glad when Labor Day gets here so she can visit him and make a decision.
We are getting Dash seen and updated on all that Anne has asked for. Working through Julie to have Mary, the kennel owner, do all this.
I wish I could find someone who would take him NOW!!!
08/12/19: The Dahlgrens will take Bella in on Thursday, Aug. 15.
08/10/19: Kim & Kim want to foster Bella after she has been spayed and has recuperated from that.
She will be seen at Barnwell Vet. I spoke to:
Annie at Barnwell: 1-803-259-2650

Wellness check
Testing for parasites, including heart worms $75 & visit $30 for HW test fecal $13Begin on HW & flea/tick preventative $12 hg and $20 simparica
