Hello to Odie’s transport team!<< Please read carefully for IMPORTANT INFO about Odie and his transport. And please REPLY to this message so I'll know you received our schedule! >>
I will monitor our transport and will be available on Saturday in case of questions, unexpected delays, or problems. You can reach me on my cell phone, 919.605.4563 (call/text). Calls, texts, pics, and updates are most welcome!
Because of your kindness Odie will travel this weekend. We appreciate you so much for donating your time and travel expense to make Odie’s trip possible. You are all very special friends to our ARG rescue dogs and we are most grateful!
Odie was surrendered by his owner to ARG. He lived outside and the family did not have time for him. We are so thankful to save him and take him into our rescue program.
Odie is approximately 1.5 years old and fully vetted. He is a handsome, wonderful boy, healthy, heart worm negative, and travels well. He will be traveling with his own martingale collar, leash and vet records. He will not be crated but can travel securely tethered on a back seat or SUV cargo area.
Below is our transport schedule which includes all the information you’ll need to complete your part of Odie’s trip. But first, here’s some important info for our transport:
Checking In – Please REPLY to me so I’ll know you got this message!
Safety and Security – These are always big concerns during a transport. Please check that Odies’s collar is fastened securely and that his leash is attached and intact before exiting your vehicle. Be sure that you have a good hold on his leash when you open your car door, use care when walking him, and hold on tight! Also, try to choose the quietest possible spot at your hand off location, away from traffic. Do not let him off leash at any time!!
Loading and Handoffs – Odie should load up easily. If he hesitates please show him what you’d like for him to do by putting his front paws into the vehicle and giving him a boost up. Please give him a few minutes to meet and get to know his new driver before loading him into the next vehicle.
Traveling – Odie travels great, and once you’re underway he should ride quietly and will likely snooze most of the way. Since he won’t be traveling with a crate it is essential that you tether him securely by his harness inside your vehicle for his safety and yours. We want to be sure that he doesn’t try to help with the driving. Though this will be a confusing time for Odie we know that your care will make his trip the best it can possibly be.
Odie’s gear – And last but not least, be sure to transfer Odie’s paperwork and any additional gear to the next volunteer. We hope that you’ll remind one another so that nothing gets left behind.
Please be sure that your contact info below is correct and check in with the people you’re meeting on either end of your leg to confirm meeting times and locations. Call me if you need any additional info while on the road!
Meeting locations are suggestions ..feel free to change to a more convenient, mutually agreed upon spot if you’d like, and please let me know if you do. I’ve allowed a 15 minute potty/walking break between each leg.

919.605.4563 (call/text)08/23/19: I called Mia and asked if she could help with an Airedale transport for 08/24/19.
08/22/19: Anne said that her vet (A) talked to the vet (B) who tested Dash. B did not do a SNAP 4xd heart worm test, only an occult blood test. Dash did not have hookworms, he had whip worms and should have been given 2 doses of the meds. Mary (boarding kennel owner, whose worker took him to the vet) said he had hookworms. Perhaps they just misunderstood. But Mary said B said the worms would be gone in 1-3 days. Vet A said the low platelets could be an artifact that was counted incorrectly, but recommends a repeat CBC with differential to confirm. If his platelets are that low, there could be a serious cause.
NOTE: I suspect (and hope) the low platelets are an artifact. None of his other red blood cell counts are low or suspicious.
Still need to find a home for this boy.
Mary Walker, kennel owner, is going to Ireland for a month-long vacation in mid-September. He can stay at the kennel and be cared for by one of her trusted workers, but it would be better for him to be in a HOME.

08/22/19:Anne Benenson is not going to adopt DASH this weekend (or maybe not at all) because his platelets are so low. Normal is 165-500 and his is -29. However, all other results are normal. Normal hgb, hct, wbc, rbc. She is having her vet try to talk to Dash’s vet whose assistant is a jerk. Regardless, Anne will not drive to GA this weekend and probably will not adopt him.
Anne will get back to me after her vet talks to the GA vet.

Hi Jackie,
I need to update you on our situation. Beckett had a damaged growth plate in his leg as a puppy. His foot was turning on an angle and he had surgery to stop it. There is a possibility that he will need a second surgery. We noticed that he started limping a little this week. We are setting up a visit with the vet to see if it is arthritis or if he needs the second surgery. We don’t want to put him through another, if at all possible.
We need to find out what is required before we can take on a foster. I’m not sure how that will affect Bella. Did you get her to the vet last week? If so, what did you find out?Grateful,

Morning, Kim. We did get Bella to the vet last week and she checked out fine; she got all her shots and tested for parasites and is heart worm negative. She is going to Barbara Yager’s on the 25th to be spayed on the 26th. We do have two other approved adopters who are interested in her. I think we must go ahead with one of them rather than wait for a diagnosis on Beckett. We’ll have another one for you & Kim when you’re ready to go ahead.
Good luck and let us know how Beckett does.

Subject: Vet care for DashHi, Julie. Hope you’re having a relaxing Saturday. Anne and I have communicated and she told me about your conversation.
ARG will pledge to cover the veterinary costs for Dash for the following:
General wellness exam (check for heart murmurs).
Bring him up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella & leptospirosis.
Senior blood panel including white- & red-blood cell counts with differential.
Fecal parasites test & worming if necessary.
Heart worm test (SNAP 4dx test).
Dental exam and cleaning, if indicated.
If you are unable to take Dash to your vet, please give me the name of the woman who is fostering him, and I will contact her. We want him to see the vet he has seen in the past so they have the advantage of his medical history. Before he goes to his vet, I want to talk to the vet’s office to see if they will grant us a rescue discount.Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Jackie

Mary had previously spent $78 for bringing him up to date on shots and she will forward that statement to Bay for reimbursement.- This reply was modified 5 years, 4 months ago by Jackie Cash.

Subject: Re: Airedale Rescue GroupHi there.
I met with Connie on Saturday. We had a very nice visit. I brought my Karlee and she had such a calm demeanor interaction with her. I really believe she is ready for a new companion as she misses having a fur baby In her home. She mentioned she would want an older dog and preferred to foster 1st just to make sure all would work out.
.
She is very knowledgeable about dogs and the fact that she use to show her beddington terriers is a plus. She lives alone in a condo and has a back porch area that can be used for quick walks. She also has a short distance from her drive way that is perfect for dog walks which has a fenced in area. She’s accustomed to having pets share her bedroom which is upstairs carpeted and separated by a landing. Also sharing couches is not an issue. She also mentioned that there was a lady in her subdivision that is a pet sitter and she would utilize her to help with walking her dog during each day. She was adamant of the necessity of having the dog be crate trained. She was very intrigued with an Airedale since her son has one that lives in Charlotte that she’s been around quite abit.
I truly believe she would give allot of love to any Airedale, however her preference is an older one which I can certainly understand. She’s had females and a male dog in the past but prefers a female. She is accustomed to frequent groomings, wet beards and muddy paws. She is also aware of the raised feeding bowls. Her pets have been house dogs in the past and this would not be any different. She likes to go on walks and hiking. She also used Banfield vetinarians and would continue because of their wellness plan offerings. She has not used a boarder in the past for her dogs. She always took them with her or had a family member take care of them or someone stay in her home if needed.
I definitely recommend her as I know she’ll fall in love immediately.
Hope this helps and I was glad to have helped. Hope y’all find her a good one. She is just a few miles from me and I’d like to Share My Karlee on some play dates.
Regards
