Subject: Jazzy Survivor InstructionsJoan and I recently adopted Jazzy from the Airedale Rescue Group (ARG) represented by Jackie Cash and Barbara Yager. The agreement requires Jazzy’s return to ARG should Joan and i become unable to care for her.
Until I can make formal Will & Property Disposition changes to include Jazzy and if the situation arises, I would like to instruct our son Doug Tarkington to cover any outstanding or future costs associated with Jazzy from our estate funds and work with Jackie logistically to secure Jazzy’s safe return to ARG custody.
Thank you,

Can ARG set up a go-fund-me page to raise money for this? Anything would help.
I will contact her and her vet and see what we can do.
11/23/19: Sent another email to Alyson Elder to ask if they’re still interested in pursuing adoption. We’ll see.
11/23/19: Mitchell Logan responded that they bought a puppy after they didn’t hear from us. Move to Neutral.

Subject: Airedale RescueHello, Mitchell & Beverly. I wanted to touch base again regarding your application to adopt an Airedale. We received your application in the first week of October and I called you on November 13th for an interview. We normally do not take that long; however, we have been short-handed on volunteers.
If you are still interested in proceeding with us, we will need to have a phone interview. After that we would arrange for a nearby volunteer to contact you to arrange a home visit. Only then would we try to match you to an available Airedale. We currently have none for adoption, but we never know when that will change.
If you are not interested in proceeding right now, we will hold your application in our inactive file.
Thank you and have a happy Thanksgiving.
Jackie

November 22, 2019 at 4:12 pm in reply to: Andrea & Gerald Higgins, Raleigh 27616 no ADT exp, terrier mix & Lab, 0 hrs alone #2403211/19/19: I had a great conversation with Angela Higgins. She and her husband and 2 adult children live in the home. The daughter is 25 and is in college majoring in special needs. The son is 20 and has Down Syndrome and is autistic. He will be with them forever. The Daughter is devoted to caring for her brother. Andrea began a Disability Resource group at her bank, which she loves. She is founder and director of this group. She works primarily from home but goes in a day a week.
They have a 17-year-old Black Lab (!), Gracie, who is still very healthy and a 6-y-o terrier mix (maybe Cairn) that was returned to the shelter/rescue 4 times. He’s a sweetheart and both love other dogs. She thinks the little terrier has kept Gracie going all these years. They play all the time.
They have a great fenced yard but understand that Airedales are very prey driven and would not let it off leash unattended. They love to walk the neighborhood and their son does too.
They are planning a trip to Paris Dec. 7 for a week, so would prefer to wait till after the holidays to adopt. We can go ahead with a home visit if we have time.
Just have to check vet reference.

Subject: RustyGood morning, again, Claudia. Email is much easier for me because I can use more than one finger!
You are so thoughtful to take care of Rusty for Candice until our adopter can pick him up. I’ve already told Candice about the adopter, LuAnn. She is a lovely woman who lives alone and just recently lost her Airedale Twig that she adopted from us. She had another Airedale before him, so Rusty will be her third. She’s active and involved and will provide a wonderful home for this boy.
LuAnn lives in Vanceboro, NC, 6 hours away from Greenville, so we would normally set up a transport utilizing several volunteers to get Rusty to her. However, LuAnn is thinking about just driving over to Greenville because she has friends there and would spend the night then pick up Rusty and drive home, eliminating the need for transferring him from one person to another. She would not be able to do this before Dec. 19 because she will be out of town from Dec. 16-18.
As we get closer to the date, I will be back in touch and will connect you and LuAnn. We will, of course, coordinate with your schedule, so please let us know about any commitments you have that week/weekend.
Thank you for your help. Candice is indeed fortunate to have you as a friend.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Jackie

November 21, 2019 at 5:48 pm in reply to: Rusty ~ 5 yo, via Candice Herring, Avail. Dec 17 2019 #2402911/20/19: LuAnn Bryan will adopt Rusty. She cannot get him until after the 18th of Dec. I spoke to Candice and she said her neighbor, Claudia, will take care of him for the few days until we can move him. There’s no rush. He will come with all of his belongings, food, elevated feeder/food storage, toys, beds, crate, leash, collars, etc.
Will need to arrange transport 6 hours from Greenville, SC to Vanceboro, NC.

Subject: Re: Airedale Rescue GroupThanks for the response, Dawn. Sandra has graciously agreed to do your home visit for us, ARG, though she is the director of Southern Crescent Canine Rescue. But if you decide not to adopt an Airedale, you might just find a companion from her group.

November 17, 2019 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Karen Lounsbury & son Patrick Lounsbury, Spartanburg, SC 2-3 hrs alone, no children, no pets ADT exp #2399711/17/19: Karen got an 8-wk-old Airedale pup from Foothills Airedales, their first litter. Named him Bernie and he’s a love. He’s great with her daughter’s Doberman and is very smart. Knows sit and come. Plays well. She & daughter visited the breeder in Gastonia and the male & female were on site, the pups were gated in the kitchen and had a pen outside to play in. They were well-socialized to people.
She said keep her on our list; she may want another in the future and would be willing to help us by fostering or whatever.
