      12/03/19 Email to web site:
Hi, I can’t believe Banjo is still waiting for his home. I’m sure he is a sweet loyal loving companion and he could possibly be a good fit for Andreas and me. I am following up on a application a had sent a few weeks ago. Please let me know if you didn’t receive it. I will gladly resend.

      JMC response:
Morning, Carol. Thank you for your follow up to your application. Yes, we did receive it on November 25. One of our volunteers is assigned to contact you. Banjo is still looking, yes, but the foster parents have vacillated between keeping him and letting him be adopted. Looking at your application, I don’t think your home would be the best for him. He is high-energy, despite his age, and very strong-willed. He is a handful on leash and doesn’t like other dogs. He has some separation anxiety and being alone up to 6 hours would not work for him. Currently, the foster mom works from home and they have a nice fenced yard for him. Once you’ve been interviewed, we’ll then schedule a home visit, and then when you are approved, we will consider you for any Airedale that would fit with your home and lifestyle. Thank you for considering a rescued Airedale and thank you for your patience. Jackie

            Subject: Jazzy Survivor Instructions

Joan and I recently adopted Jazzy from the Airedale Rescue Group (ARG) represented by Jackie Cash and Barbara Yager. The agreement requires Jazzy’s return to ARG should Joan and i become unable to care for her.
Until I can make formal Will & Property Disposition changes to include Jazzy and if the situation arises, I would like to instruct our son Doug Tarkington to cover any outstanding or future costs associated with Jazzy from our estate funds and work with Jackie logistically to secure Jazzy’s safe return to ARG custody.

11/25/19: Rec’d text from Samantha that Holly has to have “emergency” cataract surgery that will cost about $1200. Can ARG set up a go-fund-me page to raise money for this? Anything would help.

I will contact her and her vet and see what we can do.

Hello, Mitchell & Beverly. I wanted to touch base again regarding your application to adopt an Airedale. We received your application in the first week of October and I called you on November 13th for an interview. We normally do not take that long; however, we have been short-handed on volunteers.

If you are still interested in proceeding with us, we will need to have a phone interview. After that we would arrange for a nearby volunteer to contact you to arrange a home visit. Only then would we try to match you to an available Airedale. We currently have none for adoption, but we never know when that will change.

If you are not interested in proceeding right now, we will hold your application in our inactive file.

Thank you and have a happy Thanksgiving.

11/22/19: Emailed Andrea and introduced her to Christina and left it to Andrea if we go ahead with home visit or wait till after first of the year.

11/23/19: Andrea is open to HV during the holidays. Informed Christina.

11/19/19: I had a great conversation with Angela Higgins. She and her husband and 2 adult children live in the home. The daughter is 25 and is in college majoring in special needs. The son is 20 and has Down Syndrome and is autistic. He will be with them forever. The Daughter is devoted to caring for her brother. Andrea began a Disability Resource group at her bank, which she loves. She is founder and director of this group. She works primarily from home but goes in a day a week.

They have a 17-year-old Black Lab (!), Gracie, who is still very healthy and a 6-y-o terrier mix (maybe Cairn) that was returned to the shelter/rescue 4 times. He’s a sweetheart and both love other dogs. She thinks the little terrier has kept Gracie going all these years. They play all the time.

They have a great fenced yard but understand that Airedales are very prey driven and would not let it off leash unattended. They love to walk the neighborhood and their son does too.

They are planning a trip to Paris Dec. 7 for a week, so would prefer to wait till after the holidays to adopt. We can go ahead with a home visit if we have time.

Just have to check vet reference.

Good morning, again, Claudia. Email is much easier for me because I can use more than one finger!

You are so thoughtful to take care of Rusty for Candice until our adopter can pick him up. I’ve already told Candice about the adopter, LuAnn. She is a lovely woman who lives alone and just recently lost her Airedale Twig that she adopted from us. She had another Airedale before him, so Rusty will be her third. She’s active and involved and will provide a wonderful home for this boy.

LuAnn lives in Vanceboro, NC, 6 hours away from Greenville, so we would normally set up a transport utilizing several volunteers to get Rusty to her. However, LuAnn is thinking about just driving over to Greenville because she has friends there and would spend the night then pick up Rusty and drive home, eliminating the need for transferring him from one person to another. She would not be able to do this before Dec. 19 because she will be out of town from Dec. 16-18.

As we get closer to the date, I will be back in touch and will connect you and LuAnn. We will, of course, coordinate with your schedule, so please let us know about any commitments you have that week/weekend.

Thank you for your help. Candice is indeed fortunate to have you as a friend.

                                Happy Thanksgiving.

11/20/19: LuAnn Bryan will adopt Rusty. She cannot get him until after the 18th of Dec. I spoke to Candice and she said her neighbor, Claudia, will take care of him for the few days until we can move him. There’s no rush. He will come with all of his belongings, food, elevated feeder/food storage, toys, beds, crate, leash, collars, etc.

Will need to arrange transport 6 hours from Greenville, SC to Vanceboro, NC.
