12/29/19: I have tried to contact these folks via email and via phone with no response. I believe they may have adopted an Airedale Mix that was in SC; at least, she posted on FB that they were going to adopt that dog. I’ve not been able to get a confirmation, but I’m moving them to Neutral.
12/20/19: Hi, Ali. Lynn O’Shaughnessy with SOAR sent me an email that you had reached out about the Airedale in Glynn County. I am intake coordinator for Airedale Rescue Group and we operate in the Southeast: NC, SC, GA, TN, and AL. I contacted the shelter – Tiffani Hill – earlier this week when we found out about the Airedale and she responded that a woman she knows who runs the Farm Sanctuary is going to help them find a home for the Airedale. Maybe between you and me, we can get this Airedale into rescue and placed with an approved, Airedale-experienced home. I welcome your help. Jackie Cash airedalemail@comcast.net or to our group: into@airedalerescuegroup.com. Thank you.
Hello Jackie-Yeeaaaaah!!
So glad to make contact. I am that person from The Farm and happen to also be owned by an Airedale….
I am willing to help however.
As a local contact to get him out of the shelter- I am able to foster him and transport to an approved forever home or to meet and greets in the southeast. We do not intend to acquire another dog at this time but we are able to commit to fostering till a suitable home is found. My first concern is getting him out of animal control before someone inexperienced gets him just because he is cute and furry!! I understand he may have some behavioral issues since no one came looking to claim him. So sad. Same as you, I’d hate to see him get returned or into the wrong hands.
{{ I only assume it is a male because of the size and expression on his face }}Anyway, Tiffany said he was in quarantine till early next week due to a possible exposure to a respiratory illness going on at the shelter. So far no signs of illness-just a precaution.
Our personal vet is Dr. Blount with Seaside in St. Simons and he also works with us at the Farm Sanctuary…so I’m sure he will help us get his health straightened out if needed
Our home is dog friendly with large fenced yard. Our girl Stella is 3 years old and we also have a 9yr old jack Russell and a chichi-terrier mix (foster-flop) who actually rules the roost and holds her own with the big ones. Depending on how long we’d have him, we can help with assessment, socializing and begin training if needed and whatever else helpful to prep him for a proper home. My husband is experienced in basic good-dog training and I provide the fun TLC. Through the Farm, I can also see how he does with cats, goats and horses, birds etc. if that is of concern to an applicant.Would your rescue group handle the applicant & approval process? How does that work? I’m hoping you’d be in charge of placement and I can be your feet on the ground and keep him safe.
It seems like there were also a few people interested in surrounding counties on the Airedale Owners group on fb that I belong to…
If you’d like to chat my number is 912-230-2842.
Call anytime.
Ali & Chris Paolini12/19/19: Mark has also applied to ATRA and they sent the app to Becky Preston, who sent it to Bay. I called and left voice mail and sent email asking why the person cannot make application herself?

12/10/19: Spoke to Tanjy. She knows the man at the Shelter in Tyrrell Co., and knows the woman who contacted ARG, Kristin Bradley. Small town. She will gladly get the Airedale out of the shelter once we can confirm it is an Airedale and it will come to us. Then, Tanjy may just have her own Airedale!

December 3, 2019 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Private: Banjo, 7-y-o M/N, Adopted by Miaka Palmieri 11-2020 #2408212/03/19: I’ve been lax in keeping Banjo’s post updated, considering that I talk to Sue Mioduser at least every 2 weeks. He has progressed a lot since he came to them. Jeff absolutely loves him and wants to keep him. Sue vacillates between wanting us to find a home for him and saying he’s better off with them because they understand him.
She has had problems walking him because he lunges and barks at other dogs and other people. Recently – maybe in September – she bought a collar that emits a very loud signal that she uses if other dogs start to approach them or if he starts lunging at other dogs and she says it works great! She can walk him now without him nearly pulling her down! I do not like that she is using an aversive device for him, but I could not get her to think about training.
Recently, she told me that he had bitten both her and her husband when they were just sitting together on the couch. He is very protective of her. I have contacted Joey Corns of OverwatchK9 404-610-5804 and he will make an appointment to meet/evaluate Banjo. Sue seemed resistant but we’re doing it. I’ll connect them via text so they can make the arrangements and I’ll be in the loop.

Hi, I can’t believe Banjo is still waiting for his home. I’m sure he is a sweet loyal loving companion and he could possibly be a good fit for Andreas and me. I am following up on a application a had sent a few weeks ago. Please let me know if you didn’t receive it. I will gladly resend.JMC response:
Morning, Carol. Thank you for your follow up to your application. Yes, we did receive it on November 25. One of our volunteers is assigned to contact you. Banjo is still looking, yes, but the foster parents have vacillated between keeping him and letting him be adopted. Looking at your application, I don’t think your home would be the best for him. He is high-energy, despite his age, and very strong-willed. He is a handful on leash and doesn’t like other dogs. He has some separation anxiety and being alone up to 6 hours would not work for him. Currently, the foster mom works from home and they have a nice fenced yard for him. Once you’ve been interviewed, we’ll then schedule a home visit, and then when you are approved, we will consider you for any Airedale that would fit with your home and lifestyle. Thank you for considering a rescued Airedale and thank you for your patience.
