03/03/2020: Will Smith will do HV March 9-11. Sent him info and introduced them via email.
03/03/2020: I have offered Clover to Ian & Lauren Schneider. They wonder if she would work with their female Petra – a mastiff or mastiff mix – who is pretty dominant. I’ve sent them her photos and summary of what the owners have told me about her.
03/03/2020: Krissie Axon turned down Zoey because she’s afraid Zoey would not get along with her pug and she is concerned about Zoey’s reactivity to other dogs as her neighborhood has lots of dogs and people walking them.
03/03/2020: Robin West had also expressed interest and I offered Zoey to her and she declined.

March 3, 2020 at 6:24 pm in reply to: Private: Robert “Morry” Payne, Pelham, AL ADT exp., health issues, easy ‘dale #2446303/03/2020: Last week I enlisted Will Smith to do the home visit for Morry, but Morry couldn’t schedule until he knew whether he would have to have sinus surgery. He was to find out yesterday. Will was available only March 9, 10, or 11; otherwise it would have to wait till much later.
I emailed Morry today to see if he knows about the sinus surgery yet.

03/02/2020 Sent to Kelly:
Hi, Kelly. I wanted to touch base with you about Zoey. We exhausted our list of approved adopters, so I put Zoey on our FB page yesterday and she has generated a lot of interest. One of those interested is a woman named Krissy who has adopted from us before and who lost her female Airedale Lilah recently after 10 years. She has a small pug who was Lilah’s best friend. She is approved to adopt, having adopted from us before. She is interested in meeting Zoey with her pug. She lives in Charleston and has suggested this weekend.First, do you think Zoey would be okay with a little pug. I don’t know what it weighs, but it wouldn’t be a threat to Zoey, I don’t believe. Second, would you be willing to meet Krissy and her pug in a neutral location, maybe a park (not a dog park!) and just walk them together to see how she does. Or does she lunge and bark at even small dogs?
I’ve enlisted the aid of one of our sister Airedale groups in the Virginias to see if they have anyone who would provide a good home for Zoey, so we’re not giving up on her.
Let me know what you think, Kelly.
03/02/2020: The Kunkle’s said no and per Kelly Imbody that’s good. They have “too much baggage” to have a dog that is not perfect.
I put Zoey on FB yesterday and she has generated a lot of interest; specifically, Robin West and Krissy Axon are interested in her.

Thank you for letting us know that you’re no longer looking for an Airedale. I think Zoey will be a real challenge for even an Airedale-experienced family. We are still looking for a good home for her.
Congratulations on getting your new rescue dog. What kind is s/he? We know s/he is a lucky dog to land with you and Andreas.
We wish you lots of laughter and great times with your new pup!

We wish Zoey well and hope that she will find the dream home she deserves, and we thank you for all your efforts on making that happen for her.

I like to take someone with me to HV so I need to wait on Jeff who is away this week.
I can usually ‘lure’ Jeff to Wake Forest with me because they have breweries and I always time it around a ‘happy hour’ hour so he can have a beer afterward.Christina Prange

Subject: Re: Airedale Rescue Home VisitI kind of figured and even hoped you wouldn’t go into a complete strangers home all by yourself for the very same reasons why I wouldn’t want a complete stranger or strangers entering my house without me there.. So we understand why you want to bring your husband.
As far as the visit, lets move it to the following weekend then. Let me check with the “At home Boss” and maybe we can schedule something around dinner and hope you both will join us.

I like to bring my husband along with me and he is not available until Sunday so that is why i’m ‘time specific’ about this Sunday 3/1. If you wanted to do it the next weekend, we an come either Saturday or Sunday but that would be 3/7 or 3/8.Christina Prange

No worries at all. We had a lot going on since mid week as well.
I’m pretty confident that this Sunday won’t work due to Family coming for dinner which is around that time frame. We’re both at work right now, so let me get back to you later on to give you a definite answer.—–Original Message—–

Subject: Airedale Rescue Home VisitGood afternoon, James & Maureen. Meet Christina Prange, one of our longest-serving and best volunteers. She has agreed to do your home visit. I’ve provided her with your application and my interview notes, including the good reference I got from both your vet and Shelby Burton.
Christina will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time to come to your home to meet you both and Ms. Wilson. She’ll keep me in the loop as to the schedule and then get back to me once the home visit is complete. I will then contact you and we’ll go from there.
Thank you, again, for your love of Airedales.
02/29/2020: I just got off the phone with Elaine & Michael. Clover is one of Ben O’Conner’s dogs. She’s always been timid and prefers being outside and/or being with other dogs. It’s like she doesn’t like them. She doesn’t want to be around them much. They started her on Prozac bc of the Airedale “trembling back legs,” and that she’s afraid of so much. She loves going to day care and doesn’t want to come home. She loves to be outside and sometimes they have trouble getting her inside, but she will come in at dinnertime. They both are semi-retired and home most of the time, and when they’re home, she will come in the house, but still prefers outside on the deck or in the yard. When other dogs come over to visit, they’ll play in the backyard, then the other dog will want to come in the house and be petted. When she sees other dogs getting pets, she wants to be petted, but once those dogs are gone, she goes off by herself.
She’s had no real training, but will sit and wait for food, will go to her crate, and walks great on leash — Martingale collar & leash. When she sees other dogs, she wants to play with them – never aggressive. If they want to play, sometimes she’ll get over-excited, but she loves other dogs.
Best home, they think, will be with at least one other dog and people who don’t mind her aloofness. She’s a digger.
The people have tried and this breaks their hearts. Elaine says she has cried over this and talked to her vet about it on more than one occasion, and the vet told her recently if you are not happy with Clover, you should contact rescue. They’re in their mid-60s and she doesn’t want to spend the next 10 years *wishing* she had an affectionate dog.
I think we probably have some good applicants. But they’ve got to understand she’s not going to be a snuggler or velcro dog.
02/27/2020: Emailed Will to see if he can home visit Morry Payne.
02/26/2020: Freddie will be adopted by Shawna Wilson & Curtis Wharry. They want to meet someone in Dalton, GA on Saturday the 29th. Trying to find someone for the trip from Maynardsville, TN.
02/25/2020: I got a voice mail from Lynda Walker asking if I knew of anyone with an intact male because she wants to breed her 2-year-old female and just have one litter because she wants a puppy! She said she had tried to find a male but breeders want $1200 to let them breed and want her to have all kinds of testing done on her female before they will let their male breed, and that’s just too expensive and she can’t afford that.
I did not call her back, but sent this message today 02/27/2020
No, I don’t know anyone with a male Airedale that you could breed your female to. As you know, We in ARG rescue Airedales and we do NOT promote nor enable the indiscriminate breeding of them. My recommendation would be to have your female spayed to prevent her from developing mammary tumors in the future and to purchase a puppy from a reputable breeder.
