06-09-2020: I’ve sent messages to Melisa Thompson, Kelly Bryant, and Sandy Sutton to see if they can do the HV.
We have no heard from the Edwards since 2011. I would not call on them to do a HV or transport. Gladys was very ill at the end of 2011.

Jackie, some very sad news. We had to say goodbye to our dear sweet Bowser today. He had been doing great after his surgery and in fact had an excellent follow up visit on Monday for his last melanoma shot. This morning, he was frisky and feeling fine, but suddenly during his morning meal, he refused food and had a very depressed attitude. We took him immediately to the vet. Diagnostics showed he had gone into shock from bleeding in the abdomen; vet thought it was likely a ruptured tumor. It was either emergency surgery, which would’ve bought him 1-2 months more, or euthanasia. We think we made the right choice for him, but we are still devastated. I know that our previous Airedales Hector and Sadie are welcoming him. Thanks for the gift of Bowser; he gave us so much joy while he was with us.05/15/2020: Via Messenger:

I’ve got all your info still but haven’t looked it up. Yes, Cyn was a very early member, along with her mom Anne Woods, now deceased, of ARG. Cyn has always had greyhounds and her mom had ‘dales. She has helped us tremendously over the years. I’m glad you’re keeping up with us. Let us know when you’re ready to adopt an Airedale.
Carin: Cyn was why I got involved with ARG to begin with. My first transport. No it’s not my beagle but our old mix. She’s around 15. She does well for a while then not so good. Just trying to make her comfortable & loved!

06-05-2020: Jaye has decided not to adopt at this time, as her nephew’s girlfriend and her 5-yo daughter are in the home a lot and bringing a dog in at this point is not a good idea.
Jaye has decided that now is just not the right time. Her neohew’s girlfriend and her 5 yo daughter are at her home a lot, and she doesn’t think bringing a dog in right now is the best idea. She told me to take her off the list for right now, but she’ll be back when she’s ready
06-04-2020 Offered Ziggy to Jaye Green. She’s almost positive she wants him, but will call me back tomorrow.
06/03/2020: Kathleen called me yesterday and believes she is approved to adopt after being “interviewed” by both me and Christina, plus she talked to Barbara. She has not been interviewed, she has not had a home visit, but she doesn’t listen to what you say and instead interrupts and tells you how much she knows about Airedales, that she’s talked to some breeders, that she doesn’t want one that’s too big – not over 60 lbs – and it should be well-behaved and not have any issues with anxiety or aggression.
Sigh.

Reason for giving up Airedale Remy is a wonderful dog who has learned so much since coming to live with us in early April. He does have some jealousy and food aggression, however. Yesterday Remy went after our 13lb pug and caused a cut and bleeding on the pug’s face. He’s been growling and trying to bite me when I’ve been reaching for his leash to move him back to his “spot” or off the couch, etc. There is clearly some aggression there. However, he doesn’t show that towards males (in our experience).

Dog’s best qualities are: He’s as sweet as can be and very quickly came to love my two boys and me. He’s a great dog – except when he’s feeling jealous. He has lots of energy, loves going for walks, loves to be around people and is very friendly.
Dog’s worst qualities are: He has some aggression issues to work on. He can attempt to bite at hands when he doesn’t want to do something his owner wants him to do. He gets very possessive of food/bones. He has severe separation anxiety, so sleeping in a crate at night doesn’t work unless he is very close to his people.
Has Airedale received any obedience training? If yes, please describe. Yes. Remy went to advanced dog training for 4 weeks May 2-May 29, 2020. I have videos and instructions for anyone who adopts him so they can continue with the commands he knows (sit, stay, come, down, spot, heel, etc). He learned to walk on leash and was also trained off leash.
