June 26, 2020 at 8:15 pm in reply to: Dan & Alex Schnitzer, Durham, NC, Current ADT, 2 kids, Adopted thru TART #25031Hi, Dan. I enjoyed speaking to you just now and hearing a little more about Oban, Talisker, and Laddie. It sounds like you, Alex, and your two boys are real Airedale lovers and would be a perfect family for another rescued Airedale.
I’ve enclosed photos of Bobbie. We know her DOB is Oct. 27, 2018; she’s 47 lbs, and heartworm positive. I can’t tell you yet much about her personality. When I went to see her yesterday, she had just been spayed and was still a bit out of it.
My vet tells me that she’s reluctant to walk on leash, but that’s easy to train. I don’t think she knows much of anything else and, unfortunately, she’s not been well-cared-for. But, there’s no denying that she’s beautiful, and will be more so once she’s groomed.
As we discussed because you’ve adopted from TART, we will not need a home visit. If Becky Preston, the President of National Airedale Rescue, approves you, then we do. We would like to see photos of the entrance and exit(s) of your home, inside your home wherever the Airedale will be allowed, and your backyard including fence and gate(s).
We look forward to hearing more from you and Alex and receiving the photos. Let me know if you would like more information on Bobbie. The American Heartworm Society is a good source of information about this parasite and its effects and treatment in dogs. https://www.heartwormsociety.org/
Thank you for considering another rescued Airedale.
June 26, 2020 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Erby Duvall, Watertown, TN; ADT exp., 0 hr alone, 0 kids, CAT #2502906-26-2020 Spoke to Erby Duvall and he is a laugh a minute man. He’s just enthusiastic, garrulous, funny, smart, and loves Airedales, all terriers. He’s a former vet tech, groomer (still does some private grooming for friends), AKC handler, horseman, plays violin, viola, and cello, and plays the organ at church. His roommate has a cat who rules the house, so a dog would have to get along with it. Roommate would help with the Airedale when needed. Erby is retired and lives in a small town, about 1400 people, after having lived in Knoxville and Nashville. He had a pit bull that he took in when a friend of his went to jail (didn’t ask…) and thought he would hate it, but it was a sweetheart, older pb and he fell in love with it and it changed his mind on pitbull. He had a small terrier that he spent thousands on to no avail.
His back yard is not completely fenced but he has underground wire as a backup. He said he NEVER let any of his dogs out on their own in his yard. They are always on leash. He loves to walk several times a day with his dog. When he had horses he learned to split their meals into 4 portions a day so that they wouldn’t bloat, and he has followed that practice with his dogs. He said it gives them something to look forward to and it keeps their weight normal. Erby is an insulin-dependent diabetic. (This could make home visit difficult.)
He would take a special needs dog, but not one with diabetes or heartworms. It’s too hard to keep them stable. I talked to him about Banjo and he was interested. He will be a good Airedale dad.

Subject: Re: Airedale RescueAs I have so often told friend, ‘I have absolutely NOTHING to do, and all day to do it in’ so I am at home most all time, Central Standard Time. No, I have no found a suitable dog yet. I was beyond disappointed when I signed up for several “Airedale Rescue” sites, only to have photos of dogs whose great-great-grandparents had not even been CLOSE to a real Airedale in their entire lives. That being said, I do want a pure-bred Airedale….and so what if I have to buy new carpeting all over again? White was a poor choice for living in the real world to start with. I am not at ALL sure that I ‘know Airedales’ as you e-mail suggested…but I still love them, along with most of the terrier breeds. I would also love to have a Kerry Blue. I just do not see it feasible to place a 2nd mortgage on my home to buy one, however! $2,500 to $4,500?? I think not. My land-line # is 615-697-5025. When I can remember to keep it charged up….and when I can actually find it…and not at the bottom of my washing machine…my cell phone is 615-400-1446. Feel free to give me a call at any time that’s good for you. Erby

She was spayed today. I went to see her and she was still a bit woozy from the spay. There was no light in her eyes. Dr. Breland said she seems fine and non-reactive. She does not like the leash!

The Kleins adopted Ziggy and met Reid Linn on June 18, 2020 to get him.
06-23-2020: Steve & Nan called and said Ziggy is doing great, he acts like he’s been there forever, he and Tova are getting along great. They said he’s a great dog and they love him. He has his crate but he’s not been going in very much. They don’t mind and he’s making himself at home. Great folks.

wrote: I just wanted to touch base with you about a recent development in our move and our need to rehome Jackson. The short story is we would now prefer to not rehome him. In long we had previously only found homes with tiny or no back yards right next to the street that would have driven him crazy. And to be truthful didn’t like any of these houses for our children also. So after not finding a house we expanded our search criteria which opened up several possibilities. And we have settled on a house. That will meet our and Jackson’s needs. So it is more a matter of boarding for a couple of weeks as we go from house to hotel to house. We hope we are not to far into this process to keep him and are willing to make a payment in kind for your time if needed. Thanks feel free to contact me with any questions or steps I would need to take.

Hi, Tish. I know you got a young Airedale from us a year ago in March. I’m sure that it has grown and become a sweetheart. We’d love to hear an update on him/her(?) and see a photo! But I’m emailing to ask a favor. We have a young male Airedale in Memphis who needs to get to Charlotte, NC. I plan to drive him to Nashville this Monday, the 22nd, and am looking for someone to drive him to Knoxville to meet the new adopters from NC. Would you be able to drive from Nashville to Knoxville — or if that is too far — to somewhere in between, maybe Crossville?
We are trying to keep the number of transfers to a minimum not only for the young Airedale’s sake, but for Covid-19 consideration also. Let me know, Tish, if you can help.
Of course, I hope this finds you well and safe.
