Hi, Sandy. Thanks for your patience. We have 6 male Airedales right now, and looking at them and thinking of your home, in particular your 8-year-old daughters, I do not think any of them would be a good match. Aside from Asher, Zeus, and Zeke, none of whom are good with children, we have 3 other males that are not on our site because they are not ready for adoption. One of those is absolutely not good with children. The other 2 are being assessed.

I regret that we don’t have a ‘dale for you right now, but we never know when the next one is going to come to us.

You are approved so we will consider you for every Airedale we get that would be a good fit for your home and family.

We appreciate your patience and we especially appreciate your desire to adopt a rescued Airedale. Please keep in touch and know that we will not forget about you.

Hi Jackie, I hope you are having a nice weekend. I wanted to check in with you. I know on Thursday you mentioned you may have an Airedale that might be a good fit.
I keep telling the girls “we have to be patient” and it turns out I’m the one who is having the most trouble exercising patience. šŸ˜‰

I hope I’m not being too bothersome. I know you have a lot going on currently.

      Thank you for your time,

Good morning, Sandy. I am so sorry that I have not gotten in touch with you. Mary called me right after your home visit and I know she thought yours would be a wonderful home for an Airedale.

I frankly can’t remember if we spoke or if she left me a message, because shortly afterward I learned of the death of 2 of my best friends in a car wreck, and I forgot all about following up with Mary.

Suffice it to say, Sandy, that you are approved and we may have an Airedale for you. I will take a look and get back to you soon.

      Thank you,

09-26-2020 From Sue Mioduser to Miaka Palmieri:
          Hi Miaka, Richie and Spike,

I am so excited to be joining your family. I know I will be so happy living with you and I am really looking forward to being a great brother to Spike. My foster mom says I am a wonderful fun boy. I love to run, play and most of all cuddle. If you pat the sofa, bed or on your chest while you are laying in bed I will crawl on my stomach to reach you. That is how you tell me you are ready to cuddle with me. I am a perfect housemate as I do not chew anything, go in the garbage or drink out of the toilet. I can be loud at times but I am working on being quiet when I hear the word “stop.” I’m not great at this yet because I love to talk but am working on it. Sometimes I burp alot, my whole body moves. When I do this my foster mom gives me a pepcid AC and I just perk up after that. It really helps my heartburn. I am a great eater. I love eggs (either raw or scrambled), peanut butter, cheese and watermelon. I am great in the car and bath time although I dont love the drying process. LOL

I will come up to you and rub my face on your leg when I have to go out. I have never ever had an accident in the house. I am a little chubby right now but I hope that running with Spike in the yard will get some of my pounds off. Sometimes I get schmutz in my eyes that look like a clear gel thing. Doctor says not an infection but allergies maybe. As long as it is clear and not white, green or yellow Im good. My skin is flaky. Doc says this is not to be concerned with and a good medicated bath will help. I am currently taking a drug called apoquel which does not clear the flaking up but does stop me from itching. Sometimes the flaking seems bad in spots and my foster mom will put a foam/mousse on it called Miconahex + Triz which she got from the doctor. It really clears up the area right away.

I am up to date on my vaccines and bloodwork. My foster mom will be forwarding all my medical records as soon as she gets them from the dr. I just had a fecal exam and they are waiting for the results for that and will forward all the records together.

Thank you so much for taking a chance with me. I know we will all be so happy together.
          Love,
          Banjo
P.S. below is a list of items that are coming with me to your house and notes from my foster mom.

Fluoxetine (prozac) 20 mg. He takes 2 a day. At dinner. He is doing really well on this drug and per doc should not be taken off or stopped abruptly. I have been buying cheap from Chewy.com or PetVm.com. I am sending about 50 days worth
Apoquel 16 mg. He takes 1 a day at dinner. Im sending about 24 days worth. This is a little pricey but works really well. I have been buying from PetVm.com. If you go to http://www.zoetispetcare.com and upload your receipts for Apoquel you will get money back.
Triheart plus. Heartworm preventative. I have been giving it to him on the first of every month. Im sending 3 months. Oct 1, Nov 1 and Dec 1
Flea and tick…..I am out of this item but he did just have a treatment on Sept 15. I was giving him K9 Advantix II which is good for 30 days.
A few of his favorite toys. He loves to play tug of war with the ring
A bag of treats that he likes
Food—-i was giving him wet food but he was gaining weight so I switched to a dry kibble that I put water in to make a gravy and it softens the kibble which is good since he has so few teeth. But…..he really does not like the plain kibble so I do put a few spoons of wet food in it or a little shredded cheese etc. Something to get him to eat that kibble. I am sending enough food for about a couple of weeks. The wet food is Blue Buffalo homestyle recipe chicken dinner for seniors. The dry kibble will be in zip lock bags because I no longer have the original bag but it is Blue Buffalo Life Protection Adult Chicken and Brown Rice, healthy weight. The bag is yellow. I can text you a picture of the bag if you need me to do that. I have been giving him 1 cup of the kibble at breakfast and 2 cups at dinner.

            To whom it may concern:

            Ā

I represent Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Sharpe and Mr. & Mrs. Matthews Grubbs, in their legal claims on behalf of their three children who were bitten by an Airedale Terrier named ā€œTeddyā€ in Albany, Georgia on two separate occasions earlier this year.Ā  To be clear, I do not practice law in South Carolina and am simply writing on behalf of my clients as concerned parents.

            Ā

I’m writing because it has come to my attention that the owners of that dog, Mark and Cheryl Cohen, have apparently relinquished the dog to the Airedale Rescue Group in South Carolina.Ā  My clients are deeply concerned that this dog could hurt someone else in the future, and want to make sure that doesn’t happen.

            Ā

Could you please confirm the whereabouts of the dog, or at least confirm whether or not the dog has been re-homed?Ā  I have attached an email from Mrs. Cheryl Cohen to the Airedale Rescue Group for reference.

            Ā

Thank you for your attention to this matter.Ā  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

09-19-2020 Mary McEneaney did the home visit:
Understandable, Jackie. Such a sad time for you, I know.

I had a really great visit with the Baileys. The family was delightful. They had definitely done their research – even knew about Jack the WWI dale! They’d not known about Airedales until they saw an ADT mix they were interested in. The ADT mix was adopted before they could apply but they liked her so much they started researching ‘dales. They even had a bunch of questions prepared for me so they could get more info on the breed. Was very impressive.

The girls at first were a bit unsure with Maddie and her enthusiastic friendliness but they quickly got past that. Their only experience with a dog was Sandy’s elderly miniature poodle so size and enthusiasm were not what they were used to. It wasn’t long before they were petting her and throwing the frisbee for her, calling her over, etc. The parents were great with the kids. Explaining things when needed; very patient. Very nice people

The house with a good layout with a straight shot through the open public space – LR, DR, Kit – from front door to back. The backyard is nice – U-shaped around the house. All grass except for the gravelly drive, which they don’t use since it’s inside the fence. Maddie got some good running in out there – she definitely approved. The house was clean and tidy with wood floors. They are definitely not neat freaks – they had gotten Maddie some nice treats at the local dog bakery in their neighborhood, one of which was a red crab, the red being dog friendly ‘icing.’ That sucker was big so there were pieces of red crab all over the floor and red ‘icing’ – didn’t phase them at all.

The dog will have pretty muc free rein of the house but they think the bed will go in the dining area in front of the south facing windows. A nice sunny spot.

We discussed the stress of early days in a new home and they understood. We also talked about working with a trainer vs. sending the dog off. I gave them the name of a friend who is a trainer – very positive focused – who could come to the house and work with them all as a family and individually. They definitely agreed that the training was important for them as well as the dog.

They told me that if they get a female, they will call her Ruth, in honor of RBG. Awesome! After Sandy told me that, I told her about sending you the photo of their yard sign, saying they’d passed the first test. They told me they’d wondered if I was going to be some crazy trumper, but then they figured I live in town so would probably be okay. We had a good laugh over that.

Their vet, Dearborn, is one of the top recommended vets on the neighborhood social media pages – my vet and Dearborn usually get the most positive comments with a 3rd getting almost as many. They’ve already checked out the Oakhurst Dog Yard, which is just a few blocks from their home and a dog yard I’ve heard pretty good things about. I also invited them to come to our dog yard.

Super nice family, respectful to each other, me and Maddie, and they’ve really done their homework. The dog who gets to join their family will be a very lucky dog indeed!

                Mary

oh, they did say they are hoping for a younger dog – 1-2 years old – they could walk a lot with and the girls could grow with.

                    Hi Jackie,

We are both mainly at home right now. I work part time by appointment and zoom so I am around alot. Kim Austin is working from home
right now and that will not change much for the foreseeable future. We are getting ready for a 4-5 week kitchen remodel but other than that nothing
has changed in our home environment.
We would prefer a female somewhere between 3-5 or so years old. We are looking for a mellow temperament dog and that is important. So having said that
we might consider a bit older than 5. Beckett turned 3 last April and we think he is well suited for a friend. He loves other dogs and has been socialized here
locally at the Canine Social Club, a place for day care and play.

Keep us in mind. The kitchen is to start on 9/28 so we are looking at the finish the first week of November. Any time after that we think would be good.

Thanks and if you have any other questions just let us know.

                    Best.

You and Kim Austin are still the only occupants? How long would your Beckett and new Airedale friend be alone each day? Any other changes in your life?

If someone comes along and becomes Zeke’s forever family, we will be so thrilled for him! And if he does still happen to be with his foster dad, we would love to meet him in a couple months.

I hope this is ok with you and your team! We truly feel so lucky to even be considered and can’t wait to bring home a dale soon!

                              Thank you very much,

                              Lauren

He will be mine on Saturday morning! Yay! I’m probably going to take him straight to Walnut Grove rather than bring him here bc Hawkeye is so bad with other dogs.

75 lb good dog, gets along with their small Boston terrier mix. Good with their 5-yo boys and 11 & 12 yo girls. Not good with cats. No prob. He’s just a handful and high-strung and they’ve been keeping him outside a lot. Neighbor has a GSD and they get along, no problem. No aggression with other dogs; he gets excited and hops around. He wants to play. Never any illness or injury. Walks on leash. They have vet records and will send him w/ collar, leash, toys.

$300. (Bay, I’ll pay and you can reimburse me.)
