I left Princesse a voice mail asking whassup.
Also sent follow up email.
5-19-14 Texted Charles at 3:00 and told him I was out of the house but should be back in half an hour or so and could call him when I had his application in front of me. He texted back that was fine. At 3:438, he texted me that he has agreed to a Schnauzer in Maryland. Guess we just take too long. I congratulated him and told him if he decided the Schnauzer needed an Airedale pal to let us know.
5/19-14 Had a great conversation with Princesse. She is retired from the military, 50 years old, and is on disability with a back injury from an IED in Iraq. I asked how that affected her and she said sometimes she gets back pain but she exercises it out. As long as she stays active, she is good. She decided to settle in Phenix City, AL after retiring from Fort Bragg in Columbus. She has a 14-y-o son who is not crazy about small animals, but loves horses. She said he seems afraid of Story, the Russian Blue CAT (I thought it was a terrier – was confusing Black Russian Terrier and Kerry Blue Terrier and came up with Russian Blue – duh!!) and of Ginger, the 5-mo-old dale. But Princesse said she knows that he is bonding with both. He’s just being contrary. I asked about the dale mix she had to give up. She adopted her from a shelter and was only able to keep her 3 months because she was re-assigned to New York. She returned her to the shelter. That was in 1993. She got Ginger ‘Ale from a breeder in Alabama named Tillery. At 5 months old, she’s already 40 lbs.
I liked her and want to proceed with a home visit. I’ll ask Michelle O’Neal.
5-14-14: Pam Culvern is going to do the home visit. I introduced them all via email.
5-19-14: Followed up with email asking if they had connected yet.
Vanessa responded that HV is scheduled for 5-22.
5-16-14 I spoke to Peggy Broadway and she is going to talk to Barb Saylor about Clyde. Fingers crossed.l
05-16-14: Offered Clyde and sent her photos and most of Clyde’s description from his BB page and notes from Barb. She is going to talk to Barb.
05-12-15 Finally connected with Vanessa Lowe. We talked about no fence and she is willing to commit to leash walking her Airedale even in the middle of the night, if necessary. She asked about e-fences and I told her they don’t work well for Airedales and that we still would require a commitment to never leave the Airedale outside unattended. We talked about her daughter who will be 4 in July. I cautioned that her daughter would probably be about eye level with the dog and that some dogs can be threatened by that proximity and she would have to be very cautious with a new dog and her daughter. Her daughter loves dogs and they have a friend who has an Airedale and that’s why they’ve made the decision for an Airedale. She is a stay-at-home mom and they live near a lake and walk and hike and are very active. They want to proceed with the adoption process.
