Jackie –
Thank you for touching base. In a year or two I will be looking to adopt one more once my pup is a year old. I decided it would be better to get a pup while I’m still in 2500 sq ft condo. In a year I will either buy or build a house with more yard to run dogs & fence a special area in & upgrade to a Jeep Laredo or something. Right now we walk 2 hours a day & on the road a lot. Getting me into shape though. Thanks for asking. Will contact you guys when I’m ready.

Hi-
My husband and I share our empty nest in Conover, NC with Martin, a soon to be nine year old AKC Airedale. Martin is a true gentleman- has had professional training and loves to play with other dogs. (Our grand pups include 2 Bichons- 1male and 1 female. Molly is a Alpha girl and rolls all over Martin- 1 male Belgian Malanois and 1 Rescue male, that seems to be part Shepherd and part Hound.)
We would love to have another Airedale in our home. Our vet and our trainer feel that a female would be a must-even though Martin is neutered. Martin weighs 77 pounds, sees our wonderful group of vets regularly, and gets groomed about every 6 weeks. We live in a small ‘city’- Conover, near Hickory, NC. Our neighborhood is quiet-most of us are in our 50’s- 60’s- and most of us have dogs. We have a fenced in back yard- 6 feet privacy at the back of our yard and aluminum- 54” that attaches to our home. There are two doors that exit directly from our home to the backyard. We have a small in-ground pool in the back so our trainer would be on hand to assess any new canines. I have learned over the years that not all dogs can “paddle” and even those who do must know the way out of a pool. Martin has never even tried to join us in the pool. He loves to get a bath- hates going out in the rain but seem to enjoy the snow.
I am pretty sure that I have completed an adoption application for your group. My husband and I have met Donna (don’t remember her last name) but I think she has adopted from your agency. She has a Black Russian Terrier and about 6 Airedale Terriers. I can only imagine what it is like at her house. There does not seem to be many Airedales to rescue in our area but we would like to
help if possible. I will complete any forms that are required- but if I have already provided the information and you still have it- that would be great. Our phone number is 828-464-4683. Our dogs always stay inside and even when in the fenced in yard are still stuck with one of us supervising.
Please let me know if there is a need for a foster- we will wait to hear from you.
Thanks for all you do to help these beautiful canines-

12/11/14: Hi, Andrea. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to call; work has been crazy this week, but I’m off today and tomorrow. I’ve gone back over Sophie’s history and conferred with our core group. We believe Sophie would not be suitable for your situation because of your daughter’s malti-poo. Sophie has not only killed a cat, she was given up by her original owners for killing a goat and a sheep. She came to us from them several years ago and was adopted by another family. When the husband died a few months ago, the wife decided she could no longer keep Sophie after she killed a neighbor’s cat. That’s when she came back to us. At her foster home, she did not kill a cat (I had the facts wrong with them) but had escaped and decided she didn’t like her crate and had an accident in the house.
We have to be very cautious with her placement. We will only place her with someone Airedale-experienced with no small animals living or visiting the home, and with a very secure fence.
We will certainly keep you in mind for another Airedale. Thank you for again considering a rescued Airedale.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a happy and prosperous new year!

12/08/14: Jazzy is nonaggressive. She’s 5 in June. She’s a couch potato. Gets along with all other dogs.Interested in Sophie. She and husband both retired and at home. Sadie would bolt out the door. Jasmine got out a few days after they got her. Chain link and locked gates; no space for a dog to get out. Use prong collar just for going out. Microchipped. Sadie likes to play with her daughter’s dogs – one about 50 lbs, 12 years old, part dalmatian. The other is a malti-poo and about 10 lbs and he loves to play with Jazzy.
I need to find out about the malti-poo and whether he would be in danger. Jazzy doesn’t like him being all over her.
Has she been around water?
October 31, 2014 at 3:27 pm in reply to: Private: M-P, Bret Broadwater – Tarboro NC former adopter #1241710/31/14: Spoke to M-P and Bret (on speaker phone) and they are really interested in a youngster like Tucker (f/k/a Rowdy) was when they got him. They were disappointed that Whiskey is promised already. After having had Scotties and great Danes, they would have nothing but an Airedale now. I told them they are approved as former adopters and that they will be considered for any that we get in.

September 21, 2014 at 11:29 pm in reply to: Private: Shane and Ellen Paxton – Sevierville TN 37862 #1451309/21/14: Ellen & Shane were set to meet Mathayus and Kodiak today or tomorrow, but they emailed the following:
Dear Monty and Donna,
While on vacation this past week we have talked a lot about having 2 dogs and have decided that it’s not for us at the moment. We don’t want to split the dogs up, and at the same time the financial burden of 2 will be too much for us currently.
Part of the concern we have is that the last Airedale we had ended up with a long cancer battle and the medical bills were so expensive. Having two large dogs concerns us, as we would want to give any animal we own top care.
We hope you understand and we will be praying that Kodiak and Mathayus find a very loving home together.
As it turns out, this is good. Donna and Monty have decided to keep their boys (see their individual posts). I will offer one of the breeder girls to Ellen.
September 11, 2014 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Private: Shane and Ellen Paxton – Sevierville TN 37862 #14512Ellen 865 446 4050 & Shane are Going to Colorado on the 14th – 21st. They Fly in Sunday evening and if flight gets in on time at 6 pm, they could possibly visit Mathayus and Kodiak on Monday, 22nd. This weekend is Rod Run in this part of TN and the traffic would be impossible and she works Friday and Sat. night.
Yard entirely fenced – 5 ft, 2 gates. Dog door to outside area.
She works as Park Ranger and husband Woodland Firefighter. She works day shift and then switches every 1 month and works night shift. Days: 8 – 4; night 4 – 12; husband 10-hr days. He’s off every Fri Sat & Sun. Every 4 weeks she goes to night shift. When she’s on night shift, Shane travels minimally, the dogs would be alone only 2 hours. Both on day shift, 8 hours home alone.
I will talk to Donna Burress about them and introduce them to each other via email so they can talk and work out details of a meet-n-greet.
Called Donna but got voice mail (she’s at work), so sent an email about this. Awaiting word with fingers crossed!

I emailed her as recently as 5/29/14!
I think there may be some flakiness in this family. But I’ve connected Donna Yoemans to them again for a home visit.

Hi, Princesse. Michele O’Neill emailed me to say she has not been able to connect with you. If you would like to hold off on your home visit, just let me know and we’ll wait till you’re ready. We do have some great dogs in rescue right now though. I think you’ve commented on some of them on FB. Just let me know what you’d like to do.

I’d prefer not to place Nemo with Peggy because of her age. Even though she’s very active, she’s 78 years old.
Maybe Rosie/Stella?
05-30-14 Emailed Susan & Elisha yesterday and Susan replied that Elisha has not returned her calls. I called Elisha and got voice mail and told her we have lots of applications pending and lots of Airedales needing homes so to let me know if she wants to proceed.
