Hey, I can’t decide that quickly. I’m so sorry! I’m trying to finish a kitchen renovation this week before our home is descended on by family for thanksgiving. Abby would probably pack her own bags and leave if she came now!!! Good luck with her.

Hello, Nikki and Bob. I hope you all have had a chance to talk about Abby. She is just a wonderful girl and will steal your hearts. If you would like to talk to her foster mom who had her for 3 months before she went to the family with children, I am sure she would love to speak to you. She offered to take Abby back, but I don’t want to do that to Abby: send her back to the foster home then turn around and send her to yet another new home. So, we’d like to get her placed as soon as possible. I am sure you understand.
Please let me know by this evening if you wish to pursue Abby. We have other approved homes that might work for her but you were our first choice.
Thank you,
Jackie

Hi, Lora. I work with Christina Prange in Airedale Rescue Group and am contacting you to see if you might be able to help us with an Airedale near you. We have a 5-year-old female Airedale coming into rescue from Robertsdale and we are looking for a foster home for her. She is good with people and other dogs but has had little training. We are having her seen by a vet to bring her up to date on all her shots, etc. As far as we know, she has no health or behavioral issues.
We have no volunteers in south Alabama and the Florida rescue group has no one close to Alabama either.
Please let me know if you might be willing to help us or know another Airedale-experienced person who might. BTW, we do know Muriel Donald and I’m reaching out to her as well, but with her health issues, I don’t think she will be able to foster.
Thank you for your consideration.

From Lora 11/03/15:
Hi Jackie. Thanks for contacting me! If you can, tell me more about the situation(as in when the this girl needs to be picked up) and I’ll see what I can do. We have moved from Mobile last year this time(three hours southwest) but I might be able to help you with this rescue. We go fairly often and we’re planning another trip fairly soon maybe even this weekend to Mobile and I might have a foster home if we can’t keep her long. Of course that is after I spend some time with her or whatever is best. I just returned from Mobile yesterday! I’m not sure if you’re aware but Robertsdale is about 40 minutes west of Mobile. We now live about an hour southwest of New Orleans down on the Bayou in Houma, LA
Lora
Hi, Lora. Thank you so much for responding so quickly. We’ve got an appointment tomorrow with Central Baldwin Animal Clinic in Robertsdale (actually Foley address) for her to get all her vaccinations, spayed, tested for everything, groomed, etc. She has not seen a vet since 2010!!! Let’s just hope she isn’t heartworm positive. She was born in April 2010 and I would wager she never finished her puppy shots. Her surrendering mom has said she doesn’t have to move immediately, so I hope we can find a home for her soon. Your offer to foster her is very generous, but because you have moved southwest, that would take her further out of our coverage area and make transportation to her eventual forever home logistically more difficult.
She is said to be a good dog, a sweet dog, who gets along with people and other dogs, but she jumps on people, she chews things, she’s had no training although the woman’s son (who originally had her) did teach her sit and down. The mom has had her now 1-1/2 years and done nothing with her. I suspect she’s mostly outside, though the mom says she comes in and stays in the house. (But, she chews everything??!) So, she will need to be fostered so that we can really learn her personality and her wonderful Airedale traits.
May I keep your offer in my pocket in case we are unable to find anyone in our area who can foster her? You know beggars can’t be choosy. But, if we can get her to the Atlanta area, I think we can find a great home for her.
Jackie
From Lora 11/03/15:
Absolutely! I understand, but yes, please know that I could be available to continue to cover that area if need be or for an emergency because we have family/friends in that area and travel to Mobile at least once/month. Christine has know me for years, so I want her to know I’m always available to help out in any way if I can. I could easily pick up a dog and meet for a transfer from Mobile to Atlanta, does that make sense? My parents live north of Pensacola which is only about 40 minutes from Robertsdale as well. That area will always be “home” I was born there and we lived there 25 years until we moved here last Nov. We still use our same doctors in Mobile, etc! I also have good friends Birmingham, Al who I feel would be willing to help out with transport, etc.
So glad to hear this girl is a good and sweet dog…also that she has a safe place to live. She sounds like she would make a wonderful pet! I hope she is not heart worm positive. G
Hope everything goes smoothly.
Lora
Lora, you are so very generous. I will absolutely consider you a resource for us. We do want to get this girl into a foster situation so we know her real personality.
Tell me about your home situation: who else lives in your home, how many animals you have, what your week-day routine is, what your weekend routine is (when you’re not driving to Mobile!), your physical house/yard situation, etc.
With ARG assuming the cost of this Airedale, we have taken the burden off the owner, so Lily is safe to stay with her until we find the right place. Bear with us as we sort that out.
And, thank you, again, Lora, for your willingness to help us with this Airedale.
Jackie
10/16/15: Nikki PM’d Christina recently and said they’re looking for a ‘dale.
